We came here to watch a Packer game while we were in town. This place was nice. We were there at the same time as the Saints game and the bar was not overcrowed and we could sit and watch our own tv in the corner with the Pack on. They have a deal for $ 5, pizza slice and a pint. Would definitely stop by here again if we were in the area for a drink and maybe a game.

This is a favorite late night eatery for me. How can you go wrong with $ 5 pint and slice? It available every day all day. You get slice with one topping, and choice of pints: PBR, Miller Lite, Southern Pecan, Abita Amber and one other choice(mostly all those on tap). Sadly you can go wrong. Last night’s visit while sober was eye opening. The cheese on the pizza was chewy, and super oily. My amber tasted weird. When the beer first touches your tongue, it was watery tasting, and then it had a funky after taste. Maybe it was an off night. I’ve been here other times and enjoyed the pizza and pints a lot. Despite last nights ok experience, I still enjoy coming here because the people are nice, and the staff is nice and the drinks are well priced. They have drink specials every day in addition to the $ 5 pint and slice. Just check the chalk board.

We visited NOLA during the Capitals’ playoffs and this upset my boyfriend deeply. He called around and found that Bronx Bar was more than willing to put the hockey game on for us, thereby guaranteeing our patronage for at least 3 hours. Upon arriving I correctly surmised that we may end up extending that time. The first thing I noticed was a sign out front that promised a pint and a slice for $ 5. This is an awesome deal for two reasons: the pizza is pretty good and they don’t limit your choice of beer for your pint. Score! The bartender that was working that night was friendly and talkative and we felt right at home very quickly. The bar was clean, as were the restrooms which is always a bonus. The bar is smoke-free which was nice for our group since several of our party doesn’t smoke. There are a couple of video gaming machines in the corner, but if really want fun for your money play the«Shake-Shake» at the bar. Works similar to Yahtzee, but with monetary reward! When we were there the pot was up to $ 121.

I am glad that I gave Bronx Bar another chance after my first poor experience. After this visit I see why people like the place. After a weekday Unilocal Elite event there are only a few hardcore Unilocalers willing to go out for an afterparty. After the red light event, I was surprised that four others were willing to head to B3. Once we wore out our welcome there, Holly suggested Bronx Bar. The bar had a very relaxed vibe. Unlike Joel, I found the bartender to be very friendly and attentive. A few people in our party ordered slices, but I was just happy with my rolling rock. If I am in the mood for a late night slice and a beer, I will definitely be back.

From what I understand… the Bronx Bar doesn’t really open until the adjacent New York Pizza closes… or maybe there is some overlap. The important thing is that you can buy a slice late night. And scarf it down while drunkypants and give yourself a wicked pizza burn that sends you down the WtH memory trail the next morning. On the particular night that I went, I was grateful to Lindsay A for buying me a slice and amused by Holly G when she stole it. And even more grateful for my 2nd non-molested slice. Basic pizza slices came out quick. Selection of beverages is good, but as Joel M said… the bartender wasn’t really interested in us.

To be honest I don’t really know if I was in Bronx Bar or NY Pizza on my stop in… this was post Unilocal Elite Red Light event… I was traveling in the wake of John L.H. being pulled along in the undertow after many o’ strong cocktails and much jukebox Classic Country at Brothers III… I remember the bartendress acting as if she could take us or leave us… mainly because we seemed to be diverting her attention from 3 guys in her age range that were sitting around the corner of the bar from us… They musta been catnip to her… The drinks(S&W) were strong(wasn’t really paying attention to the prices at this point) BUT by damn that pizza was freaking great!!! I ordered 2 big slices of pepperoni and ground beef, Oh my, those triangles of dough with its cheesy and meaty goodness were right on the money!!! The crust was a little crisp but you could still fold it over and chow the freak down!!! That’s exactly what I did!!! All in all I don’t really remember much about this place BUT I definitely remember the pizza and it gets a 5, the bartendress gets a 2… that averages to a 3.5 and I rounded down to a 3… I’ll be back count on it cause like my Tip said«Even a good ol’ boy likes a NY slice!!»

This is the bar of New York Pizza. I like this place for the fact they offer a $ 5 pint and a slice special which is a pretty awesome deal. There isn’t a limit on this special and you can just keep eating and drinking as many $ 5 slice/pints as you want. They also offer the full menu of New York Pizza usually so you can get some good options here if you don’t feel like pizza. Some nights they stay open late and other nights they just close when they want to close. The inconsistent hours is the main thing that irks me about this place but generally its a good place to grab a quick slice of pizza and a pint of beer.

Well, I would tell you how this place is, but I have no idea. We stopped in hoping to get a drink and a bite to eat(it’s attached to New York pizza). There was no bartender and when someone came in from the connected restaurant to make a drink, he explained that he wasn’t the bartender and couldn’t serve us. Uh… ok. We waited and waited and nothing happened, so we left. Swing and a miss. Maybe next time, but I doubt there will be a next time.

Since I no longer live in New Orleans, I suppose I can review this place and share with you the best kept secret in the city. Yes, I’m a terrible person for not reviewing an awesome business because I didn’t want people to find out about it and ruin it for me. One of the awesome things about Bronx Bar is that no one knows it exists and therefore it’s never crowded. Once word gets out, this may be subject to change. Upon discovering this place, Bronx Bar quickly became my favorite place to watch a Saints game, for several reasons: 1) The abovementioned lack of a crowd. It was always possible to find seats at the bar, even though it’s a teeny tiny place. How often can you find seats at any bar, no matter the size, when the Saints are playing an away game? It’s rare. 2) It’s smoke free. Yay! I can watch football AND not have to sit in a cloud of cigarette smoke. 3) Every day, they have a $ 5 pint and a slice special. That’s right, get a pint of beer(i.e. Blue Moon), and a slice of pizza(which is excellent) for just $ 5. This, in itself, is more than enough reason to stop in at Bronx Bar. It’s such a great deal that it’s almost too good to be true. Fortunately there’s no such thing(as too good to be true), and this serves as additional proof of that fact. So there you have it. No need to thank me, just go have a pint and a slice at Bronx Bar and remember: you heard it here first.
