I stop here every time I’m in NOLA. I think of it as more of a museum than a gallery. Here you will see one of the most impressive collections of photography you could ever come across. Absolutely beautiful and amazing pieces. I am particularly enthralled by the older pieces under cloth… it’s a rare gift to get to see these pieces.

I was in New Orleans(first time) a week ago, and while wandering the streets we came across A Gallery. What luck! Taste in photography, is, of course, very personalized. I’m not a big fan of landscapes but I love Annie Leibowitz, for example. Almost all the photos displayed in the store has some striking element that provoked some reaction in me. Typically it was the design, sometimes the significance of the moment being captured. The website has a much larger number of photos, but is ultimately less compelling than visiting the gallery in person.

A Must See when visiting NOLA! An awesome collection of work both worldly and local fine art photographers! And the best selection of photography books ever! Check out the newest Annie Lebowitz Book! It will blow your mind!

A wonderful tourist spot, but buyers beware! I purchased an Edward S. Curtis print in 1997, only to discover years later by an expert that I was grossly overcharged. If you want to actually buy something, take an expert appraiser with you.

A WORLDCLASS Gallery! Great Art in a genuine French Quarter setting, with warm, welcoming, knowledgeable staff. It’s worth a trip to New Orleans just to visit A Gallery For Fine Photography. We never fail to be enthralled, mesmerized and inspired. If you love great art, you must see what’s there. And if you love great photography, this is the BEST of the BEST!

A beautiful space with wonderful, rare images. The man behind the desk(who’s name I disgracefully neglected to get) spoke to us about the photos, about New Orleans, about music, his sunflower colored house on Desire Street and whatever else came to mind. He gave us room and time to view their excellent collection and then even made dinner and music suggestions for our remaining time in town. I suggest you make this a stop.

I tell all my friends who visit New Orleans to go here even if they aren’t interested in photography because after viewing this diverse and historic collection of photos they will probably develop an interest they never knew they had. Josh Pailet has amassed an amazing museum-quality collection of photographs and art books with both historical and artistic significance. He and his colleague, Eddie, treat every visitor with respect regardless if you’re new to the photography world or looking for your next Newton. If you have a question, they will take the time to educate you about the pieces on display regardless of your interest in purchasing a photo. For amateur collectors or enthusiasts, it’s nice to be able to enter such an unpretentious space and really be able to appreciate the art before committing to whether you want to become a collector. For more expert collectors, this place is internationally known for its taste and professionalism. In addition, if you’re new to NOLA or just passing through, Josh and Eddie are lifelong New Orleanians who would be happy to share tips about their favorite local spots to check out. If you’re lucky enough to be in town for an opening, the artists and the crowds they draw always make for an interesting evening with good conversation. This place is not to be missed!

This has some of the best photographs in the world for sale. It’s like a museum. They change out shows and stock the greats. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Plenty of photographer books for the enthusiast at all price ranges too.

This place is a NOLA gem. I mean holy moly. This place is packed with great photography by the legends and pioneers of photography. I walked into this gallery thinking nothing of it and was stuck for an hour. This place is like a museum. Man oh man, the walls a filled with originals by artists I have come to love and admire. This is a must stop for anyone interested in Photography and not some cheesy photography of beautiful places. I mean really hard core classics and some new contemporary pieces too. The staff are great too. They took the time to talk about New Orleans even though it was apparent we were not buying anything. Great place.

This gallery is the type of awesome that I wish the Quarter had more of. The building is well worn, the inventory encyclopedic, the staff quite helpful. A long time ago I bought a Jock Sturges from them — I was still in the database and updated my info for them whilst shopping. Nice to see I made a good buy then. I walked to the second floor and was presented with the latest amazing Sandy Skoglund(would that I could afford her) and saw that a Joyce Tennyson Polaroid that I still lust for is still there. Perhaps when I graduate next year, if its still around that will be my gift to myself… They clearly get a LOT of looky-loos in there. Start a real conversation about photography, and you are quickly helped by very knowledgeable people.

This place is wonderful, a two-story photography museum that fronts as a gallery. This is a must stop in the Quarter. A Gallery features originals by such luminaries as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Ansel Adams, Walker Evans and Yousuf Karsh. They also have some of the earliest photographs — ambrotypes — ever taken, of Civil War soldiers and frontier Indians. These early photos will blow you away, as will most of the gallery.
