Wonderful food and atmosphere. I’ve patronized Beijing House for 20 years. It’s never disappointed.

This place is great. don’t be put off by the lady that runs the place she might have been tortured. but I love the food here. I think its one of the two best Chinese food places in all of the south shore. It had awesome Kung Pow Chicken the sauce isn’t watery its real thick unlike other places. everything they make is pretty good and the oil they cook it in isn’t heavy so its easy to eat.

This used to be good American Chinese. Then it used to be decent American Chinese, especially for the South Shore. Now it’s inedible. It’s so disgusting that it’ll take amnesia for me to return. Carry out order on a Monday night. A working dinner, all the boxes on the table. Everyone is hungry, gonna dig in. I go for the pan fried noodles, which I’ve eaten before at Beijing House and elsewhere, including Chinatown. My first warning is that these noodles aren’t the usual. Instead of a thin noodle, almost like vermicelli, these are thick, like udon. Uh, okay. I take a bite. STALE. The topping is grey, with a flavorless mixture of unevenly sized meats and shrimp. The shrimp are the size of a nickel. Never seen that before, either. I can’t eat it even though I’m very hungry. I open the boneless spare ribs. They are visibly burnt. Not charmingly charred, the way they do at that place in Dorchester where the chef sears them under a fire right in front of you, but burned so badly that they are inedible. And very tough, as though — it scares me to think of it – they’ve been sitting there for weeks. I go for the hot and sour soup, always a comfort food. The first spoonful is off. It’s almost sweet. Maybe it’s that green herb they’ve included. What is it? Cilantro? I take a second bite and get mystery meat. Is it possible that they’ve added turkey neck to the soup? It looks odd, too, as though they’ve swirled the egg drop soup into it. The taste, look, and texture are so off that I can’t eat it, either. There is other stuff in the order but three strikes and I’m done. Everyone is polite. But pretty soon someone else says, «These noodles are stale…» There’s a lot of food left on the table. And then someone says, «Beijing House used to be good.» This wasn’t a mistake in an order. This wasn’t an off note in a flavor profile. This is wholesale fraud. This is betting that you’re not gonna ask for a refund because you’re already at home toasting a bagel because you just spent $ 60 on a bag of inedible«Chinese» food.

This was THEBEST American Chinese Food on the South Shore by far…(you see the«But» coming right?)…BUT the past 2 visits for Take-Out were wrong. One is an anomaly, Two means you aren’t paying attention. I don’t care that it’s Saturday night and the line is out the door. I only want MY order to be right and good. Why is it such a big bummer? Because we live 10 miles away and we don’t know it’s wrong until we get home. I read back the order to the woman who took the order(hurriedly I might add) on the phone because it was wrong the previous time. If it wasn’t for the Orange Chicken, I might not go back. It’s the greatest around. Really ! Their Sesame Chicken is also fantastic. On the other hand, Do not try the boiled wontons. They are exactly how they sound. Boiled Wontons. Limp Dumplings. I thought the Spicy Ginger Sauce would liven them up but their consistency was like a Wet Noodle. I guess because it was a Wet Noodle? Next time I’ll stick with the Deep Fried heart attack Wonton that you can dip in Duck Sauce. Why do they call it Duck Sauce anyway? Another Quandary! So, in the future I’ll be sticking to a flavored Chicken and Pork Fried Rice(they also make a fabulous fried rice!) when I want to drive out of the way and pay big $$ for Chinese a Food.

It pains me to write this 2-star review, considering our many years as frequent patrons of Beijing House and our friendship with the owners. However, when I say«Meh, I’ve experienced better» I’m referring entirely to the Beijing House of years past, the one we used to love, not what the restaurant is providing today in quality of food or service. Sad to say that our recent experiences, both at the lunch buffet and at dinner, have been going downhill in both aspects, and the fact that Beijing House is never crowded may be the result of that. Despite the lovely and expensive remodeling of the restaurant, the staff — other than long-timers at the front end — lack the professionalism and friendliness of service that we were used to. Many new young servers are simply perfunctory and give the impression they have something better to do; no attention whatsoever to keeping the items in the lunch buffet freshened unless we call it to their attention. I’m sorry — if you’re serving a buffet from 12−2pm, those who arrive at 1pm should not be met with shriveled scraps of the remains and compelled to request that the dishes be replenished. I have written rave reviews and updates in the past, but am so disappointed in our last several meals here that I won’t be back until these issues are addressed.

Excellent American Chinese food. I read some reviews saying that this place has«gone downhill» in recent years, but this was my first time dining there so I had nothing to compare it to. If it was better in previous years, I wish I’d been. The crab rangoon were some of the best I’ve had, lots of filling with big chunks of krab(yes, krab with a «k,» but that’s standard). The orange beef was crispy, but tender, and the sauce was intensely orange-flavored. The dumplings — oh, excuse me, the«beijing ravioli» — were juicy and fresh and the ginger sauce was delicious. Everything came out quickly, our server was polite, and it was a great meal. Only minor complaint, if you would even call it that, was that the«suffering bastard» drink I ordered tasted like a frat party. .. I think it was supposed to be lemon, grapefruit, and rum, but mostly just tasted like fruit and liquor. I actually imagine that all of their tiki drinks are poured from the same jug of 80 proof juice mix. But that’s fine, I wasn’t expecting a divine experience, and it was strong for the price. Will definitely be back.

This is a reliably good restaurant. The food is tasty and consistent. I had one of the dinner specials. It is on a separate menu page and you choose the items listed and there is plenty to choose from. For $ 14.95, you get soup, an appetizer, main dish and fresh fruit for dessert. Hot and sour soup is my go to. BH’s is still good but it doesn’t taste quite the same. It needs a tad bit of fine-tuning, a bit more sour. There is enough food in the dinner special because of the soup and appetizer. My main dish, crispy shrimp, was crispy. I was hoping for jumbo shrimp but these were large. The appetizer of boneless spareribs was good enough, which is an odd thing to write and hard to describe. Some pieces were deliciously moist and flavorful but others were a little dry and chewy. I would order them again to give them another try. The sushi bar is relatively new and only because I was writing this review, did I order anything. The Alaskan Maki was excellent. The eel sushi was fine but I prefer a slightly firmer texture. My one criticism is that sashimi incurs a $ 3.75 additional charge per order, which is three pieces. That is awfully steep and the price would definitely prevent me from ordering sashimi. Beijing House is a very good Chinese restaurant. There aren’t many good ones on the South Shore and this is worth the trip. The staff is friendly and they remember you.

In the past we would always go to here but then the quality of the food really slipped. Everything was greasy and old tasting. not freshly prepared, I was so disappointed. We stopped going here and found a better and fresher restaurant to order from. The attitude of the staff could use a redo also, when the food was good who cared if they barked at you but when the food is bad, I say Bye BYE.

Been going to, and ordering take out from Beijing since I was a kid. Never had a bad meal, never had a bad customer service experience. Not to mention the food is lightning fast. You could order $ 100 dollars worth of food and have it on your table in 15 minutes max. The sushi is great too! Will continue to be a patron as long as it’s open.

Sesame chicken to go Nice and hot, good portion size. Not crispy like I hoped it would be. However, not being crispy, the chunks of chicken were tender and meaty. Plentiful with sesame seeds. I hate being critical but Ive had a more flavorful sesame sauce before. Their sauce was a tad too vinegary for my palate. Sweet, but like I mentioned a vinegar sweet, not a honey sweet. Not bad. But not the best. Worth trying once.

Deciding to try someplace different and hearing good things from this place my wife, mother-in-law and I decided to try it. Upon arrival observed a barrel overflowing with trash Robert Irvine would not be happy. Once seated, ordered drinks and waiter took our order shortly thereafter. Food arrived in a timely fashion and we «dug in.» Pretty much all the food was bland without any flavor. To say the least we were disappointed! This will be our last time visiting.

Horrible experience. The waitress arrived to take our order and was angry. She was actually angry that we were there. I ordered a Wonton soup and the wontons were cold, I told our waitress and she took the soup but never came back with another. The Beef and Broccoli entrée was also cold and the meat was the cheapest cut I have ever tried to eat. There was no tenderization of the meat. You could chew the meat all night and still not be able to swallow it. I ordered the spicy salmon sushi which was sweet, tasteless and not of sushi quality. I went to this restaurant because the Unilocal reviews were favorable. I will never go back or recommend the establishment, strictly third rate.

Dinner started out great. Until we found something crawling in our moo shi. Unreal they tried to tell us it was a bug thats very common in our meal. It was an insect. I will never go back. They paid for our meal and asked us if we wanted to take it home. Are YOUKIDDINGME.

My wife and I decided to heed the multitudes of other excellent Unilocal reviews and give the place a shot. Low and behold, the Beijing House did not disappoint. Tonight the restaurant was quiet, only 4 or 5 other tables sitting to eat. We arrived with our 13 month old and were promptly greeted by a friendly lady who gave me the impression that she was the manager. After being sat immediately and a highchair being brought over for our little one, our server was right off the bat helpful in getting the little one ready for dinner(of course we were not expecting or demanding of that), but it was definitely welcome. We had a scorpion bowl for two, Beijing raviolis, mango and basil chicken and meeshee beef. Everything was phenomenal and fresh. I wouldn’t hesitate to return here again, outside of Brooklyn or Manhattan, best chinese experience I’ve had on the South Shore. Period.

I have to say — normally I love this place and agree BEST Sesame Chicken around! I go about every 2 months to get my Chinese food fix. I agree with other posts, it is Americanized, but good(not like Chinatown), but for the South Shore my «go to» place. That said, last night was different. It was so below standard. The boneless spareribs were overcooked and dry, the sesame chicken was dry, the beef with broccoli was chewy, the crab rangoons were greasy — nothing was up to their usual standards. The vegetable delight, fried rice and white rice were fine, but can you really mess that up? We all agreed it was not their best and was actually bad, but we were celebrating a birthday(ate the take out within 30 minutes of picking it up) and since that was what we had we ate it. After thinking about and sleeping on it we decided the restaurant should know, so I went in today to speak with them. I believed I was polite, complimented the previous times I was there, explained how much we love the place, but that last night it was just not good. The manager Ching Ching, said«we served 200 orders last night and no one complained.» She looked at the list of what we ordered and her only comment was«what was wrong with the rice?» I told her even the cookie was stale. She got up, opened a cookie and broke it, then said see, fresh. At that point, I realized I was getting nowhere and asked for a refund. Ching Ching asked where the food was, I said at the House or Dump(my father was going that morning). She then was a little rude and said«On Sunday?» As if I was lying… Yes the Hingham Dump is open on Sundays! Ching Ching offered me a gift card as compensation, for the orders I did not think were cooked up to the usual standards and I said fine. Like I said I like the restaurant and this seemed like a fluke. Then she added up the items and said, only for half. At that point, this place was no longer for me. I then asked for the refund, because I will not be back. It was apparent, my honestly did not matter, Ching Ching was unwilling to correct the situation. She gave me a portion of the bill back, but unfortunately lost a customer, who knows maybe others. It is a shame too. I wait tables and I guess the restaurant I work for is a little better at customer service. I see them make things right when they have to, Bejing I feel did not. Like I said, the food is normally good Americanized-Chinese(last night excluded). I cannot say the same for the manager.
