I don’t know if this is the same place or not. Inside all of the workers were wearing uni’s that said HMart. Anyway I think this is a Korean Supermarket. I say this because I think I was the only non-Korean in the building. The place looks like a supermarket on the outside and when you enter it is like a supermarket in the middle and right with stalls on the left side of the room. The stalls include a bakery, a jewelry shop, one of those weird ginger/herb shops, a video store and a korean restaurant. I ate at the Korean place and let me say it was interesting. First, the lady was upset at me for either for not speaking Korean. She was dismayed when I ordered the kimchee stew and started telling me «15 days» over and over again. She kept on directing me to the terriyaki beef bowl(silly anglo) and I kept on insisting on the stew. She gave in and I took a seat. Turns out I think she meant 15 minutes ’cause thats how long I sat. Finally I got my stone cauldron of boiling soup accompanied by pickled daikon, rice and kimchee. Why is it that the soup must be boiling, then kept in a container that makes it hotter? Anyway, when it cooled sufficiently I found this to be one of THEBESTPLATESOFKOREANFOOD I have ever had. It rocked! Not too much meat in the stew, but plenty of tofu and wow was it spicy. $ 8.

Buy brittle at the counter near the entrance. Go to the noodle shop for kimbap or udon. Kimchi fried rice is good too. We used to go here for packaged sashimi and sushi. You have to bag your own groceries because if you let the cashier do it, an item will be left behind.

No one’s reviewed this market? How odd! Well here I go! :D I love coming here! I get my banchan here along with my other korean groceries. They even have already marinated kalbi(which I have bought for a BBQ at home) and it was actually good!!! It’s nice to just be able to pick stuff up when you’re in a hurry and still have the flavor of authentic, korean BBQ. :) They have renovated the inside of the market as well. Now they have more little shops, restaurants, and stuff inside. I like their little bakery where I get the white bean and red bean pastries like my mommy used to buy. Seaweed salad, soy sauce eggs(which people keep forbidding me to eat!), saam jang, tofu, yams, korean cucumbers, asian pears, some weird veggies that I can’t find @ the«American» market, and of course some beverages… All good at this market! AND it’s close to home! Can’t beat that.
