Finally CLOSED for good. Never had even a decent experience here — we only kept giving it chances because we live a couple of houses down the street. Hopefully a place with decent food/staff will move in.

I love uncle Ed’s. While, yes it does take You on a time warp back to old school 50s diner(but that’s what I like about the non-corporate restaurants) You feel at home here and not rushed around. The food is great too. I have never had a bad meal here and I have two picky kids. Plus I can always afford to get all of us ice cream(which by the way is the best in town for ice cream). I give 5 stars for the ice cream, food and service! Keep coming year after year!

I really liked this place! I also love the old style diner retro décor. The food was excellent. I got the tuna melt with bacon and tomatoe and was HUGE was awesome! Not like your friendly’s restaurant style either. Love love love the perogies and the sweet potatoe fries were totally awesome! I am definitely going back to this place. =)

Great diner style comfort foods, and ice cream. The sandwiches are humongo and prepared perfectly. Got the perogie app which was delicious. Followed by the rueben with sweet potato fries, again delicious. The portions are quite generous and very reasonable. The menu has many comfort food options that look great. Like meatloaf, stuffed cabbage, shepards pie and a lot more. Full on breakfast in the morning as well. Cool old school diner seating inside. This was a Very pleasant surprise.

classic diner fare… Stopped in for lunch on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend… surprisingly empty at 12:30ish. waitress tells us they’re out of about 4 different things… ok. so it’s a holiday weekend, and you guys are completely unprepared. Nothing I was really interested in, so whatever… Wife & I order the Cuban Rubens… kids get the«big hot dog» and the chicken pot pie… pot pie looks really yummy… «big» hot dog wasn’t so «big». just a regular sized dog in a regular bun. homemade chips were a nice touch though. Our sandwiches came out, but they were the pulled pork, and not what we ordered, so we sent them back… when the Cuban Rubens finally got to our table, they were good sandwiches. but I wasn’t quite sure what made them«Cuban»… looked and tasted like your regular Ruben… I don’t recall exactly what the menu said, but there was no «Cuban» influence to my sandwich. I also got the homemade onion rings which were very good. so. overall, you’re typical diner. Waitress could’ve been«on her game» a bit more, but the food was pretty good…

When we saw this place getting ready to open, I didn’t realize it was the second location of Uncle Ed’s Front Porch Ice Cream in Rehoboth. I had never been there(still haven’t) but had read many good things about it here on Unilocal and elsewhere. It is in a recently renovated 50’s-60’s style diner(think Newport Creamery or Friendly’s with counters that go right out into the booth area so that the servers don’t have to come out from behind the counters) that is still pretty plain and smells of new paint and cleaner. The ice cream has the usual options, along with a few flavor twists. We tried a total of four ice creams — two scoops on two cones each. Had we known that the scoops were going to be the size of a baby’s head, we may not have gone with two scoops, so be forewarned! You get a LOT of ice cream for the money! The ice creams that had mix-ins(«inclusions» in ice cream parlance) were plentiful and chunky — my coffee oreo had pieces of cookie that were at least a quarter of a cookie, if not almost half. The«moose droppings» ice cream is a chocolate mousse ice cream with malted milk balls, and it was impossible to take a bite without getting some of each. And the«cherry garcia» had whole large cherries floating around in it. But in the end, ice cream is only partly about what is mixed in with it, so I always like to try the straight up chocolate or vanilla, since there is nothing to hide behind… and Uncle Ed passes with flying colors! The ice cream has almost a dark chocolate flavor it is so intense, and is perfectly smooth and creamy. Good flavors, good value, lots of parking, and easy to get to location — I think they have a bright future ahead, and encourage you to try them if you get a chance!
