This is a wonderful no kill shelter for abused, neglected or abandoned birds. My friend Richard Weiner runs this organization and he is my hero. He provides temporary care for exotic birds, while looking for «forever families» and he also has permanent residents, some of which have been «damaged» to the degree that he wouldn’t move them again. Birds are very sensitive and so when they have been abused or traumatized they turn to self destructive behavior, like feather picking and self mutilation. Not unlike some people. The important message here is: Don’t Buy, Don’t Breed, Please Adopt a Bird in Need.
By the way, I have posted pictures of my adopted girl, Lou Lou (previously named Buddy-​when assumed he was a boy-​until he layed an egg) I was going to be a temporary foster parent to her… well, we know how that ended :)
