It is pricey but the flavors are good. The banana was sweet but I found the other flavors just right. I especially like the fruit flavors. I’m definitely going back! Eddie and Gwen are a welcomed addition to the area!

I had to stop by the Ice Cream Barrel recently and couldn’t be happier to see this addition to the neighborhood. I got a chance to chat with Eddie who is the owner and got to hear the story of how he decided to open the ice cream shop and use family recipes. It was very unfortunate to hear that permit and construction issue prevented him from opening earlier in the year. Eddie is very gracious in allowing you to sample as many flavors as you would like. Of the few I tried I found them all to be delicious. To those complaining about the price, this is small batch ice cream, hand made on the premise. Enjoy supporting a local establishment!

You can’t find no better tasting Ice Cream in the Chicago Land area, Eddie and Gwen are the best and their very nice and lovable people. Please don’t forget to get a piece of that delicious cake. Congrads and welcome to the neighborhood .

Took my children here for a treat and they loved it. My children had the pumpkin spice and vanilla oreo ice cream, creamy and delicious. I tried a sample of the chocolate cake and regret not buying a slice, very rich and moist. The employees, who I am assuming are the owners, were very friendly and delightful. We will definitely be back for more.

I’m sorry to say, but I was just not a fan of their ice cream. As other reviewers mentioned, it is very sweet and we couldn’t really taste much else. Both of the flavors we tried were vanilla-based, maybe something chocolate-based would have had more flavor. Additionally, as other people have mentioned, it’s quite expensive. We paid $ 4.89(+tax) for each shorty scoop, which is smaller than a single scoop. I might not mind paying this for ice cream that was really awesome, but to us, this was just not worth the price. The owners seem really nice, and I wish them luck and hope they find the proper customers who will appreciate this style of ice cream, but I’m afraid it’s just not me.

I’ve gone to the Ice Cream Barrel when they first opened and I have been hooked ever sense! This is gourmet and hand made ice cream so the prices reflect quality. I frequent the establishment about once or twice a week, as mentioned I’m hooked! The staff is very friendly and eager for you to try various flavors and give your honest opinion. In my opinion the other ice cream box stores you can taste the oil. The Ice Cream Barrel is very flavorful and the ingredients are FRESH… Want More…

I scream, you scream, we all wanted to scream for our money back! And I’m talking a bunch of money — $ 5.40 for ONE scoop of crappy, too soft ice cream! So I grabbed my coworkers this afternoon and we decided to have an ice cream treat because this place is up the street from where we work and we’ve been talking about trying it. I ordered a scoop of black walnut on a sugar cone. The man behind the counter put it on a regular cone. I said I wanted a sugar cone so he grabs one, puts it on top of the $ 5.40 scoop of crappy ice cream, turns it upside down but the regular cone is still attached to the ice cream. He hands it to me. Seriously? He then watches as I try and get the regular cone off my ice cream. What the hell? Two of my coworkers couldn’t even tell what flavor ice cream they had. They ordered Heath bar but they thingk it might have been black walnut. My one coworker ordered a dreamscicle scoop and he said it wasn’t very dreamy. Needless to say, we won’t be back. The lady behind the counter who took our order was nice but super slow. At these outrageous prices, they should be nice. The four of us could have each had a soft serve from the golden arches for the price of one of these nasty, ridiculously priced cones. Good luck, Ice Cream Barrel. I give you 6 months before you will be shuttered.

First off, this ice cream place is in NORTHRIVERSIDE, NOTBERWYN. Now, on to the review. The ice cream tasted like straight sugar and no flavor. Also, my wife ordered a sundae and they did not even have hot fudge, the chocolate sauce on the sundae was poured from a bottle of Hershey’s chocolate syrup that you can buy in the grocery store! LAME!!! This establishment will be out of business in less than 6 months if they don’t make better ice cream and make sundaes with Hershey’ s syrup from a bottle instead of actually having hot fudge. For Pete’s sake, you are an ice cream shop, you should have hot fudge!

We’ve been eagerly awaiting the grand opening of this new business in town and finally gave their sweet homemade confections a try tonight. The ice cream is amazing — so creamy with authentic flavor and some selections we’ve never seen elsewhere. Vanilla pecan, double strawberry, Butterfinger, banana chocolate walnut… and true-to-taste standbys Reese’s PB cup, vanilla and chocolate. We recommend this new, family-owned-and-run business, and we’ll be back to try more creative flavors!
