The food here is pretty gross, but hot weiners are supposed to be gross, right?
This place is alright, but I’ve had better weiners elsewhere. Maybe I’m just spoiled because I grew up near Rod’s Grille in Warren?
I have to say though that all of the other Olneyville stores are better than this one. This place just doesn’t feel legit without being able to sit on a stool at the counter. That’s supposed to be part of its charm. It also doesn’t help that the food here is sub-​par.
The fried pickles are pretty good, but they could use a little less batter.
One thing they do right is the fountain coffee milk. Can’t get enough of the stuff.

Hubs has been wanting to get hot wieners almost every weekend now, so this weekend we decided to hit up this location because it has a drive-​thru and we were out running errands. This location also has fried pickle chips, which I just had to try, and they are awesome! The batter tasted like a yummy onion ring batter, you didn’t even need any dipping sauce for them. Will probably hit up this location more for those delicious chips!

I tried this location once a while back and I wasn’t overly crazy about them. I’ve had worse but I’ve had better. Skip Olneyville NY system and go to Kips in Pawtucket, so much better.

Our first night in town and we had MANY places to choose from, but I chose a tried and try taste of home… wieners «All The Way», french fries, and Coffee Milk! What type of former Rhode Islanders would be be, otherwise??? It had been several years since we indulged in these tasty eats, but they were just as good as we remembered! My teenage son ordered Fish & Chips and I had a few bites… they were also delicious! The batter was perfectly crunchy, but not too greasy and the fish was moist, bright white, and very fresh! My son was on the fence about trying a wiener, but he took on bite of mine and then ended up eating the whole thing. He loved it! But then again, what’s not to love?!?
The restaurant was small and cozy, the service was good, and the place was very clean.
I would have given 5 stars, but my clothes smelled to high heaven after we left! They need some exhaust fans in there!

How I have never had a NY System wiener?
I remember seeing a shop down the street from my elementary school and wondering «why the heck is ‘NY System’ up here in RI?» 20 years later I sunk my teeth into one of these babies.
Now the wieners are a bit on the smaller side, I easily ate 2 and see how people could eat 4. But wow those things are pretty tasty. There is a different taste to a NY System than a normal hot dog, but in a good way.
This location is pretty laid back and the people behind the counter are very helpful and seem to just love their job. I am so glad this is only a short drive from the house :)

The best thing I can say about this place is the drive-​up window is really convenient. Otherwise, I think the Olneyville location serves better tasting food. Stay away from the turkey wrap, it was tasteless.

The employees at this location were unfriendly and more interested in watching tv than serving customers. The weiners were not hot and everything tasted as if it had been sitting out for a long time. Overall waste of time and money, will not be a return customer.

This location is just as good as all the other NYS! The drive through is unique and I had to try it.
It was fast, efficient, and easy. I was really surprised. Just one problem, how do you eat a hot wiener while driving? Very very messy. I ended up pulling over, but the idea and concept are great. Execution of eating while driving, not as easy. I compare it to trying to eat taco’s.
Glad to see more stores branching out, makes it easier when I don’t want to go Providence to get my fix.

I’ll tell you what… In the midst of Mineral Spring Ave, you’ve got Burger King and McDonalds for fast food burger choices. In comes Olneyville NY System and now you’ve got something a little different.
Now you can get WIENERS at the drive through! Sadly I can’t comment on how good those are, but I can say that the burger and fries I got were delish and fresh (from what I could tell).
I was expecting the food to be on the greasy side, but nope, none of that. My only real complaint is that the fries tasted a little like pickles. But hey, they serve them in a take out box with a side of malt vinegar, true RI-​like!
So would I choose this place over a soggy greasy BK or McD burger? Its cheaper, less greasy and better tasting, so yeah, probably.
