Why have I not ever been to this place before today!!! It’s fantastic! I got a small chocolate concrete with M&M’s and my husband got a small chocolate concrete with Oreos. We both feel like the smalls were plenty big enough. Our total was only $ 9 for both desserts. The menu looks quite large so I’m sure we will be going back to try several other things. Their FB page says they are a family owned business which is great. Wish they took debit cards though!

The custard is some of the best I’ve had Coast to Coast. Beware the banana split is enough to feed a(normal) family of four or a 12 year old from Arkansas it’s HUGE! The custard is creamy, rich and has a great vanilla flavor. And as I used the backhoe to explore deeper into the giant cup. I found a layer of amazing chocolate custard that is just as good as the vanilla with a deep chocolate flavor. I had to sadly discard ¾ of this monstrous delight but the next visit I’ll know to have a smaller cone or cup. Well done small roadside stand!

Excellent frozen yogurt & comfort food such as Frito Pies. Scoop Dogs is a wonderful neighborhood establishment. Don’t miss it.

Delicious food and always great service from Joe or one of his family members. They were a Shakie’s at first with the to die for«concrete» ice cream, but no worries– they still serve it! This is a local, family owned business and I’ve never been disappointed. Don’t hesitate to try it, it’s good!

It was good! Loved the hotdogs! I got a Chicago and a New York. It’s a little expensive for a hotdog but I’ll be back next time we plan on trying the sweet treats.

Checked this place out after a lunch date one afternoon. After the drama of realizing it was cash only, we ended up with an old fashioned banana split. The thing was MASSIVE. Between the two of us, we still couldn’t finish it. We will be back to try more of the menu!

My hot dog is always the way I like it and the frozen custard is the best I have ever had. I like that this is a family run business and they are all very polite and they know how to make the customer happy. We go here all the time and wouldn’t go anywhere else for ice cream or hot dogs and their frozen custard cakes are awesome.

Best hot dogs in the NLR area! Wife went for the Chicago & I kept it real with the offering from New York. Happy to say they use an ALLBEEF product, which is great since my wife doesn’t eat pork. The staff was extremely friendly and offered a suggestion for drinks. We decided on the frozen strawberry lemonade brain freeze for both of us. My son just wanted chocolate ice cream(which was very good). Remember CASHONLY or personal checks. I had to make a quick trip the ATM. To my surprise the owner was nice enough to even give my son a hotdog on the house because I had to drive offsite to use an ATM. That’s great customer service. I will definitely make more trips out to Scoop Dog in the near future(with cash next time)!

First off… I’d give them 100 stars if they took credit or debit cards. I understand their reasoning behind it and how the fees eat up a lot of profit. But any locals know to have cash or a check when pulling up to the window. It’s worth it to have to go to the ATM if I’m low on cash. My family and I have tried most of their menu! Starting off with the hot dogs… we’ve had everyone of those. Grab a mix pack if your looking to do the same. All were extremely tasty in their own right. I liked some better than others but it really just depends on what flavors you like. Custards: where do I even start! Plain in a cup: great if you’re looking for something simple Golden Retriever:(my favorite) custard with homemade bread pudding with butterscotch sauce! Heaven on earth! Oreo: my kids favorite… self-explanatory Snickers: my 2nd favorite… self-explanatory Rice Krispy Treat: kids 2nd favorite… ditto They have so many flavors, fruits, cakes, cookies & candy custard to satisfy anyone’s taste!

These guys never disappoint. The dogs and custard are always very good. It can get pricey, especially for a hot dog, but you’re still getting much better dogs than you would at a ballgame for half the price.

Their frozen custard is good, but way expensive. Also, in this day and age, who doesn’t take credit/debit cards? I mean, they will turn your business away instead of paying a merchant service fee. Utter failure to adapt. I probably won’t return now that there’s a B&R in the neighborhood.

Locally owned place that has the best ice cream/custard around. Fairly priced and always delicious!

We love Scoop Dog! Their«Shake and Weiner Wednesday» is, in my humble opinion, the best time to go to this cutesy local eatery. The $ 5 price can’t be beat, yum! Things to note: Not much parking(maybe space for 10 cars max), and outdoor dining only — don’t forget to bring cash(no cards!).

Did someone say frozen custard? How did I not realize every time I passed ScoopDog that they had frozen custard? I would have visited long ago! With that being said… I think the custard was good… not necessarily great. I think it was my choice of add-ins. I had chocolate custard with raspberries. Unfortunately, the raspberries were completely frozen… and not very flavorful. I would have preferred fresh raspberries. We did enjoy sitting outside, which was uniquely decorated. They also seemed to have a lot of business, which is great. I’ll try them again now that I know what they offer.

A welcome throwback transporting you to days of your youth, enjoying cooling ice cream on a hot day. Maybe it’s the retro 60’s timetrack, but this place with the wide(though not all encompassing) range of flavors and great hot dogs just makes me feel like I should be at a sock hop. Great to sit outside with your favorite girl or guy and some young ones to have a good time.

Delicious ice cream!!! no other words to describe it. Amazing staff willing to lend a helping hand. But make sure you have cash. No cards accepted. two toppings is a normal concrete, three or more is a deluxe. Very much worth the cash!!!

The Original Scoop Dog is a great year round ice cream and hotdog stand. It’s definitely one of my favorite small businesses in the NLR area. I try to make it here at least on a bi-weekly basis to handle my Chocolate Malt fix, and the owner makes a mean one. There’s more than chocolate malts, there’s custard, ice cream, banana splits, and of course the main stay that are Hotdogs. He plays on the many styles across the country, and they’re just right. I wish he had a little taste of the Southwest, and by that I mean a Sonoran Dog. That would just be all kinds of awesome!(Maybe I’ll make mention the next time I’m there???) The eats served here are good, but you’re going to pay for some items. The small Malt I like, and thoroughly enjoy is $ 4.97 after local taxes. The thing is, it’s worth every penny…, and I’ll gladly pay. **A big point to take away from this Unilocal is that it’s a cash only establishment.** The first time I went to purchase a meal I was unaware of this. I had no cash on me, but the owner was trusting… He actually told me to catch him the next time around. I was blown away by this. I didn’t know some places still did that, ever!!! Even though he offered I didn’t take him up on this, because I usually carry enough change in my car. Fortunately for him and I had the proper amount sitting in my center console that day. Before I pulled away from the drive-thru, I thought to myself that he gained a loyal customer, and for this I choose to Unilocal-Yelp-Yelp about the year round awesomeness that is The Original Scoop Dog. Oh… and let me not forget about«Shake and Wiener Wednesday»! You can get that phrase for just $ 5. Do et!
