I never thought I’d find myself writing a review for a corner market/taquiera called«Tijuana Meats No. 2», but here goes! On the surface, I normally wouldn’t give this place a seconds glance. However, since it’s within kicking distance, I’ve made it a normal habit to visit this cramped and perfectly crowded hole-in-the-wall meat/produce shop. The prices are fair, with the usual convenience store mark up compared to the bigger latin counterparts — like Vallarta and Superior Groceries. The staff is friendly and regular as well. They also have regular sales of certain choice essentials, like sugar and flour and such. However, the real fun for it’s money is the brand new taco lunch truck they’ve made a regular fixture on the parking lot late nights and weekends. I’ve uploaded a couple shots to this review. Best part is, it’s in a constant state of flux. Like a beautiful, tasty sculpture. Every time I go down there there’s something new. Tables and chairs. Tents and table cloths. Portable space heaters. A flat screen TV playing the basketball game. Etc, etc, etc. Frankly, it’s starting to look better than my own living room! And with tastier, cheap street eats. One dollar tacos with fresh ingredients from their store make it worth the trip, along with the free side dishes they provide with every meal(All-you-can-eat beans and potatoes, depending on the day). However, for your burrito needs… Just walk one half block away to Tacos Manzano. Sorry, Tijuana Meats. Their Burrito Mojado is unstoppable. If they were only a LITTLE cheaper, I would never even bother going to Superior Groceries up the road. Alas, they’re not and I have to mark them down an additional star for that out of regret for the extra gas spent instead of calories from walking.
