I have a driving job, so I’ve been to a lot of the mom-and-pop Mexican places around the Valley. This place has the best nachos, burritos, and quesadillas(I haven’t had anything else) around. The quality is what you expect at a formal sit-down restaurant, but the prices are very reasonable; about the $ 4−5ish range, though they had chicken burritos on special for $ 3.79. I add the cheese, avocado, and sour cream for 50 cents each for a huge, tasty burrito… The chips are in house made, and stay crispy under the weight of all the nacho ingredients(they’re very generous — nachos can feed 2). I add the avocados to my nachos(cheese and sour cream already included) and comes out to just under $ 6 including tax. The staff is bilingual and very helpful and professional. The only con here is that they don’t have a West Valley location near where I live. Don’t bother with Taco Bell next door. Passing this place to go to Taco Bell is sacrilegious. They have another location in Van Nuys, but I haven’t been there.

This place is great!!! Forget your over priced Vallartas this place is cheaper and BETTER!!! The staff is extremely nice and welcome you as you come in. They just added a food court in the back of the store and their food is to die for!!! Their tacos are really good, you have to try their home made tamales!!! Oh, get their early for their Birria, it is to die for!!! Oh wow, almost forgot I had a torta last time I was their and I was speechless!!! If your in the neighborhood I recommend you do your grocery and meat shopping here!

Don Juan’s is a personal favorite of mine, me being the only gringo that I know of in this particular neighborhood. This small locally owned market consistently features prices on meat and produce that rival the much larger Vallarta chain down the street. The best feature might be the grill, where you can order all the standard tacos, carnitas, quesadillas and breakfast that you want and have it prepared right on the spot by an always friendly cocinero. Smiles from all of the staff here are a regular thing, an especially welcoming trait for me as I speak little spanish. It’s one of the only places I know of where I can call up(Juan, his actual name) and order meats to be marinated for carne asada for me ahead of time. peace, B
