I’m not gonna rate this establishment bad because I LOVE Tommy’s & I’ve been going to this place for years until I moved. Today I stopped by since I had crazy munchies & I was near this restaurant, I looked it up on Unilocal to see their hours & saw that it was 24⁄7. I pull up, & see that their drive thru is closed(which was annoying because I really did not want to get off the car) so I parked & went up to the door only to see a sign written by one of their employees which read«we will be closed from 10 p. m to 2 a. m due to maintenance…» While their employees were all just standing around doing nothing! Why the hell does it say 24⁄7 then, if it’s closed for 4 hours just to «clean». It’s so frustrating. I don’t know who their manager is, but whoever runs the night shift is off.

I love chili cheese fries — sadly I only eat them once every 15 years.

Tried out this place because it’s one of the few places open at 1:30AM on a Sunday night. I got a burger and fries. They were okay. I’ve had better and for cheaper. But at 1:30AM on a Sunday night, they’re better than nothing.

I went to try this place for the first today and my brother in law told me what to order and I got a double chilli cheese burger with grilled onions and an other of fries on the side. When I pulled up to the window I paid they gave me the wrong order and I told them that the order wasn’t mine they took my order back and they gave me my original order. When I got the order I didn’t mind checking it because I think they got my order right but it was wrong they gave me a single instead of a double and I had no grilled onions! First and last time I’ll try it again.

I have been coming to this location for many many years. Very solid chili-burger and chili-dogs. Drive though is always good, could sometimes be a long line, but service is always quick. In terms of the food, it aTommy’s burger. The chili overpowers everything else but that is what makes it a Tommy’s burger! I would say if you want something different in taste other than McDonalds, Carl’s Jr., or Burger King than stop by here…

Excellent service! It’s a bit busy during lunch time, but I will assume they are used to the crowd since they are located right off the freeway exit. The service was super fast. Definitely a must have if you want to enjoy some good chili, but get ready to put on about a pound after your meal :) Enjoy!

I can overlook a lot of little things at restaurants — iffy service, forgetting orders, mixing things up, etc. People have bad days, mistakes happen. What I definitely cannot forgive, though, is finding a long, black hair in my chili cup. Absolutely disgusting. I really don’t need someone’s nasty DNA mixed in with my food, and if a long, black hair can get into the chili here, I can’t help but wonder what other unhygienic things are going around in the kitchen. No hairnets, really? And someone is leaning over THAT far into the chili that their hair can fall into it? What else fell in with their greasy hair, all of their dandruff and lice? A few snots from their nose? Maybe they coughed and sneezed too? Ooph. Think about it next time when you think, «Oh, it’s only a hair.» The hair is probably just the tip of the iceberg as to what’s getting into that food. By the way, read the other reviews… others have had the exact same problem at this location.

Dude… I had late night munchies and ordered a CALIENTEBURGER and CHILIFRIES in the drive thru. Guy(In blue shirt with glasses… probably Manager) asks, «would you like some ketchup or peppers?» Me: Yeah, can I get SOME chili peppers? I then check my bag and see a disposable mini tray folded neatly in a yellow paper with about maybe 15 – 20 chili peppers!!! Those yellow bad boys are to die for!!! When you ask IN-N-OUT for chili peppers, they give you maybe 3 – 6MAX in some sissy plastic containers with lids on the top. When you ask Tommy’s chili peppers, THEYHOOKYOUTHE F* Up!!! THAT’S ALLYOUNEEDTOKNOWBABY!!! ***Shout out to the boss/manager and ALL the hard working people that work at Tommy’s which is makin’ BANK24 hours days…7 days a week! ONEOFSFV’S FINEST…

We stopped in here today while waiting to get loaded… Service was fast friendly and knowledgable It’s like a fast food burger joint … Guess it’s been here for years You walk up to the window to order then they call your number We placed our order to go Place appeared to be clean and we must have just beat the mad lunch rush because when we were leaving the line was out the door After getting back to our truck and eating we now see why the place was busy The food was great. Served fast. Order was correct chili on everything if you order it that why. Which we did lol Their milkshakes I must say are one of the best we have ever had We travel all over the US and eat at a lot of restaurants so we feel we know the good from the bad If your a local and haven’t tried this place your missing out !! However I don’t see any local not knowing about it If your an out of towner. Do yourself a big favor and try it. I promise you won’t be disappointed !!

Customer service sucks!!! I placed my order and waited for 10mins. Keep in mind I was the only customer. I finally got tired and asked about my order. They had no clue. Instead of the workers gossiping they should focus on there customers. They tired to make things right, but who wants food once they pissed you off? I’m cool, took a short drive to In-n-Out. Add Tommy’s to my BANLIST for life. #NeverAgain

First off, what is with the security? Okay, we’re in Los Angeles at a burger place that’s open 24/7, I get that you want to keep out riff raff from disturbing customers. But there were no less than 6 security guards here, 2 out in the parking lot and 4 inside. That’s a ton of security. We had been meaning to go to Tommy’s for a long time, and finally had he opportunity. It’s…alright. I mean it’s good, but not the greatest thing ever. It’s sort of like The Hat I guess. The food is very greasy and messy and heavy and not terribly expensive. You have to go in knowing that’s what you’re going to get or else it’s very upsetting. Didn’t realize that all burgers automatically come with chili. Didn’t mind it at all, but unless you really pay attention to the pictures on the menu you don’t get told that going in. Chili seemed under seasoned. Could use a bit more kick to it. I thought the fries themselves were good, but the chili for the chili cheese fries sort of killed it a tiny bit. Really, it was just alright with a side of «What the hell?» Because of the security.

It’s not Rampart but it’s my hometown Tommys! Been coming here since my friends and I were teenagers. Not gonna say how long it’s been but it’s long enough to appreciate the fond memories that we created here.

Tastefully upsetting. 2 stars because I definitely received my veggies for the day and because Brian at the window made me smile. You can tell he’s a happy guy… But 1 star, for how thin the burger patty was… What a shame

I really don’t like this place. Both times that I’ve gone the security guy gives me a territorial gangster up and down look, and is rude. I’m a girl so this is very uncomfortable, especially because I’m walking in alone! I gave them a second chance, but the experience just got worse. I felt very uncomfortable and not welcomed, so I walked out without ordering.

My go-to choice for food late at night since they’re open 24 hours. I like how their burgers have chopped raw onions. The chili is really good on top of the fries but i feel they don’t have enough flavor with burgers. Never have had to wait long during drive thru and food comes out fast.

Came here after band practice last night and after dropping off our drummer I noticed Tommy’s and thought I would give it a try since everyone is always raving about it. Parking lot is a decent size and well lit which is great if you’re stopping by late at night. After walking in I noticed the place was kept pretty clean even though it was 12:30 at night. I looked at the menu and decided on a regular cheeseburger with chili and the chili cheese fries. The guy working the register was really friendly which is not that common at almost any place that late. I sat down and waited for my number to be called. After about 6 minutes my order was ready. The first thing I noticed was that the portions are pretty big. For $ 9 I was pretty impressed. But then I started eating. Talk about disappointment. The burger patty itself was tasteless and so was the chili. The only thing that had any amount of flavor was the pickles. What made it even more unpleasant was the texture and consistency of the chili. Pasty and flavorless as if it had come out of a can. No chunks of beef to be found. Same issue with the fries. Bland pasty chili on top of bland, albeit, hot and crispy fries. I’ve been at a few places where they serve chili cheese fries like Champs in Canoga Park, Fat Burger and even Dog Haus. All three places had much more flavorful chili and burgers, not to mention Dog Haus makes their chili fresh every day or other day from fresh ground beef. I probably won’t come back unless some friends insist on it, in which case, I’ll skip the chili and try a hot dog instead.

I was craving the Chili. The burgers are sloppy and most of have a good taste. This is the original, same company as the one on Rampart and Beverly. They have done a lot of changes with their menu and also changed their beverage from Pepsi to now serving coke. Its not a healthy choice to eat this burger, once in a while its OK. I guess. The calories OMG. You can also add a bigger size patty, from a 2 oz to a 4 oz. They now sell their Chili in three different sizes and sell their yellow peppers in their own bottle. Smart move I still like going to the one on Beverly and Rampart. Tommy started this from a shed, that’s still there even to this day. Their Chili is always consist in taste. Good job. 2015 Unilocal Challenge 028⁄100

(Dined 12÷11÷14TH @ 9:30pm): Located directly across the street from a Budweiser brewing plant, a beer(just not theirs!) would totally hit the spot with this filthy meal! My friends and I attended a nearby event that served only appetizers and we craved something more and a place where we could hang out, so Tommy’s Original World Famous Hamburgers instantly came to mind; plus, it was conveniently close to one of my friend’s house. The weather was cold and rainy so this was definitely going to hit the spot aftermath repercussions be damned!: COMBO #3($ 6.30 + $ 1.75 Chili Cheese Fries Substitute = $ 8.05) Chili Burger — I decided against the $ 0.50-cent upgrade to the cheeseburger(hindsight I shouldn’t have), this sucker was slopped with a ton of chili, mustard, sliced onions, but dissapointingly and surprisingly a thinner tomato slice and mystery meat patty. Was this a cost-cutting measure?! Besides the greasy-arse chili, I imagined the near hockey-sized puck of a tomato slice was the most memorable. Regardless, the burger still tasted good but different at the same time. And, did I miss the pepperoncinis?! Chili Cheese Fries with Onions — A dumpage of diced sticking onions — check! A pile of hot steaming chili — check! A slice of probably processed cheese — check! A «king-size» bed of thick fries — check! Spillage out of the basket — check! Future health issues — if you saw the smile on my face after each covered fry I picked out from the carnage, I obviously cared less! Medium Pibb Xtra Soda(refillable) — I usually didn’t drink sodas, but a Pibb Xtra was a sorry substitute for a tall cold brewski I really wanted with my meal. Oh well, I filled-up twice, and they were easy on the ice. Service — You simply walked up to the register counter inside(helped by a friendly young gentleman and later by a nice young woman for my drink refill), placed your order, paid, got your drink immediately, and as you waited for a minute or two before you received your order you gathered Ketchup, napkins, «silverware» and straws directly behind you. No wait service, so please be kind and throw your trash away. Easy peasy. Parking(Free) — They had the most plentiful parking spots of all the Tommy’s I’ve been to which was a huge plus. But just in case, there was free street parking all around. Atmosphere, décor, ambience — A spacious indoor and covered outdoor patio dining restaurant, this historically has been one of the nicer locations I’ve been to. There was a drive-thru for thos in a hurry while inside it was brightly lit by a ton of electric lighting from the ceiling with the possibility of sufficient natural lighting during the daytime through the front windows and various glass doors. Cushy booths and tables with chairs filled the inside while weather-appropriate tables and chairs outside. WARNING: be advised that the stench of the restrooms managed to seep its way out if you sat close to the side entrance/exit. Several promotional items hung on the walls(i.e. t-shirt for sale, advertorial posters, etc.). There were no TVs or background music. Attire — Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops…if it weren’t for the acclimate weather. Overall, the North Hills location of Tommy’s Original World Famous Hamburgers was 24-hours and a wonderful place where you stretched-out and got comfortable. The service and food note above spoke for themselves, so the only concern was the foul smell that emitted from the restrooms(please fix that!). As I’ve said on other Tommy’s reviews, all they needed was some beer! I found exceptionally good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above(total paid experience was around $ 9.00 before voucher discount; no tip required). Although they accepted credit cards, not mine of choice… AMEX! 4.5STARS
