This is for ADT in general. This company is crap! We were happy with Brinks, then they send us a letter stating now we are with ADT. Not only did our bill go up by about 12:00 a month, they told us we need to update our system, and even though we paid extra for the repairs, etc… the upgrade isn’t covered. (We were with Brinks since 1997)
Not only would it cost us over $ 500.00 to update, our monthly bill would almost double. As soon as I switched to Xfinity, I cancelled our ADT service, literally four days after our automatic payment went through, and
They will only return one third of our payment (we paid three months in advance).
That was in September, I had to call again today to see where my refund was, and I was told they never processed it. I know they never would have returned my money if I didn’t keep calling.
My opinion; this company is shady.
Go with another security company, but check them out thoroughly before you decide. So far, we are very happy with xfinity, and the payment is a fraction of what we were paying for much better service.

ADT is really expensive compared to the alternatives out there. And in my experience, they take advantage of senior citizens who don’t know any better. I’m an ADT customer and I pay about $ 400 a year for service plus $ 45 a month to AT&T to have the stupid land line required by the ADT system. So it’s expensive.
But then I found out these guys sold my grandfather a service plan. Now, my grandfather is old and senile, so he didn’t know what he was signing up for. The local Sacramento sales person sold my senile grandfather a THREE-​YEAR contract with direct withdrawal from his checking account and charges of $ 45 A MONTH.
So $ 540 a year… and if he wants to cancel there’s a $ 540 early-​cancellation charge! My advice: Don’t even talk to ADT. Go on Amazon and look at all the cheaper alternatives that don’t even require a land line.

If I could give Zero Stars I would. The Tech Service from the ADT #800 dialed was horrible. Not certain if it fed into the Sac office however this info could help anyone who is an ADT subscriber. I upgraded my alarm system with a company I’ve used for years, when it came time to procure the existing receiver code from ADT to continue the same monitoring service that I’ve been paying for the last 10+ years they gave us the total run around. After over an hour of being bounced around I got a supervisor who insisted on some ADT verified Tech or Dealer code. My alarm dealer has no such code, he’s not an authorized dealer. So the conversation went round and round how they’re holding out on the code that’s in MY SYSTEM not theirs! No code means no monitoring I was forced to switch monitoring services (which I did) or my new system was worthless. That said I’m with holding a rating for my alarm installer to see how this plays out simply because they are part of the equation also.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! The system has never worked properly and has only caused us stress and frustration since we signed up. They are really good at taking your money but in terms of home security you are better off getting a dog. This is my first time having a security system in my home and I would recommend to avoid ADT at all costs.

This company is the worst. You discontinue service and next you are billed again for several months. Don’t talk to service, go straight to manager. Even if discontinued they can still charge you. Keep all records and note phone calls. Never never again

I have been a satisfied ADT customer over 14 years. On June 15^th I received a letter from ADT telling me that my heat detector needs to be upgraded. I scheduled a service call to replace the heat detector on July 6^th between 12 and 5 pm. I scheduled my day to be available. After noon the serviceman called to tell me that the needed parts were not available and that he would call back in a few days to reschedule. No one has called to date. I called today (August 4^th) to ascertain the status. I reached a representative who said that she would forward me to the service department to schedule the replacement. I was on hold about an hour before giving up. I tried the ADT online chat capability, and was told that the representative that I was chatting with could not help me and that I would have to call the service department — this after I had explained my difficulties in reaching them. With service like this, I question whether ADT can provide the level of security that I need.

ADT Sacramento– POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE BY TECH SUPERVISOR
Had a problem with the system installed by an Authorized ADT Dealer. Many false alarms. ADT Tech came out to check it out but couldn’t diagnose due to the fact that the dealer hacked together the old system to fit the new ADT hardware instead installing a new system. Put 18 sensors on one zone with no indication as to were they might be spliced together. Tech told me his supervisor would call me shortly to discuss what to do. He did not call me. IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS I HAVE LEFT 2 MESSAGES ON THE SUPERVISOR’S DIRECT LINE … ZERO CALLS FROM SAID SUPERVISOR. I am dissatisfied with his idea of customer service.

***This is not a critique of ADT in general just my experience in Sacramento. By the way watch out for advertisements from «Authorized Dealers» If you are going with ADT then have an actual ADT tech install your system.***

Adt contract is screwing me! I could save $ 10 a month and get 2 cameras an additional key pad a digital thermostat remore control lights and window coverage from comcast!!! I CAN’T WAIT TO LEAVE YOU GUYS!!!

What a disappointment… just plan on whatever they say they are going to do. .they end up doing the exact opposite. Horrible… these people could care less about taking care of you once you sign on the dotted line. Run… don’t walk!

I recently had an ADT system installed at my house in Lincoln. The sales representative was very knowledgable and was able to offer some helpful tips in regards to security, Once we developed a system that would adequately cover my home the way I felt was best, the rep was able to share pricing of the system.
The day of installation went through very smoothly. The installers were very knowledgable and informative. They were professional and courteous and installed my system effeciently. I had follow up questions and they were able to assist me with those accurately.
I would highly recommend ADT to anyone looking for a professional grade security system. I received quotes from a few different dealers and in the end ADT was not the cheapest, but I felt they were the most professional and knowlegeable. The after the sale professionalism was great as well.

This company cannot be recommended. When the system was installed the woman doing the paper work was rushed and flip and took incomplete information. Later when there were problems with possible identity theft and my bank changed my credit card tice no information was communicated to me for several months. Because of the payment problem I was not allowed to reinstate service, which was fine, since they were messed up on billing info, who knows what they might have done in an emergency. I’ve switched to a company that seems more professional. Apparently, at the time of cancellation, the employee did not bill me properly. I only found out recently, which is months later when a bill was sent to collections. I am still not sure I really owed them the extra money but paid it. They did give me a discount for «the inconvenience» and say I will be removed from the collections list. We’ll see. I’m crossing my fingers they won’t be asking for more. I am disappointed with the employee incompetence and I hope I do not receive any more demands for money that an employee «should have charged».

I had the ADT Custom Home «Pulse» system installed with all the bells and whistles. The system was working perfectly for a few months then it started malfunctioning. ADT completely took care of it and gave me a credit on my account for my trouble. It was the classic case of them completely taking care of the problem and making me 100% satisfied and happy that I’m their customer. I really love our Pulse system. Thanks ADT!

ADT what a joke these people are the biggest bunch of liers i have seen in a long
long time, well to start this off right about a year and a half or so ago i made the big mistake of getting ADT alarm system in my residence, what a joke if you ever make the mistake of opening the door or window while the alarm is activated good luck to you the local police will arrive at your front door within
minutes of the alarm going off guns drawn .they will interrogate you for a while
to make sure your not some kind of bad guy or something, then when all the smoke clears, they will send you A $ 75.00 bill for coming to you r house which i thought was suppose to be in their daily duties FREE. nope not free well any way think long and hard about getting this service, its really not worth the money. They gave me a camera for the alarm system it worked so so well anyway when i down sized from one to the other, well there went the pulse camera, they turned it off for Christ sake, don’t let me get started on the hired help secretaries and such what a joke, they put you on hold and pump elevator music into you Head theres nohing more irritating then music i don’t
wanna hear while on hold. I have a lot more to say, nice things about this bunch
but we will save it for another time. Enjoy your new alarm system
for the next 2 year. Oh well only in America Eh.

Horrible customer service! I was a customer for 14 years and needed to get my alarm serviced. Impossible to get a hold of someone local, impossible to deal with. They take your money no problem, but try to get something resolved IMPOSSIBLE!!!
On the phone for 25 minutes, transferred 5 times, had to repeat my story each time and still never got help!
I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY! Try another security company. If I could, I would give this 0 stars also!

If I could give 0 stars I would. In a nutshell poor technicians that do not know how to install or service equipment. Decieptful ways of getting homeowner into long contracts with no way of getting out without paying no matter how bad service is or if service is even being rendered.
DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THESE PEOPLE. 3yr contract if you move you must have a residence to immediately transfer service to & that will cost $ 175.00. If you sell a house & cancel service with no where to move immediately you must pay out the rest of the contract.
I hope all of these people that work for this company loose their jobs & go hungry & homeless. I will never as long as I live sign up for another security company!!!

very quick to sign you up. if there is an issue with the system. they take up to a week to come look at it. that’s for a business account. Stay AWAY!!!

DO NOT use ADT and Gaylord Security!!! I used them for 2.5 years and I had cancelled my landline about 3 – 4 months ago without knowing that I was supposed to notify them. Apparently, I was paying my monthly bill that whole time and my home was not even monitored. The phone rep said it was my fault and not to blame them and would not give me a refund for the time my home wasn’t being monitored. I told him that I pay for a service and expect them to provide me service, but I guess it was my responsibility to do a system test and do my own damn security. So what was I even paying for??? I cancelled their service that day! IF YOU WANT SECURITY, DO NOT PAY THESE GUYS!!! They just want your money! *****I had to give them a star to post my review, this should be a ZERO star!

I am counting down the weeks my contract is up with ADT, I am so disappointed in customer service, I would recommend people to look ells wear for a good alarm company.

For eight years, I have entrusted the security of my home and business office to ADT and their security system. When we began we were Brinks customers. Brinks spun off their alarm company and changed the name to Broadview, which was then sold to and absorbed by ADT. ADT’s acquisition seems to have been when things have gone wrong in so many ways.
When you get an alarm you have two logical questions: Will it work? If it doesn’t, will they stand behind their product and take care of me?
In July of 2013, our office was burglarized. After the burglary, an ADT technician came out and verified that the motion detector did not go off when the perpetrator came into the office. It was verified that everything was set correctly and he could give no explanation as to why the alarm did not activate.
At ADT’s request, I sent the ADT Litigation Department a letter along with receipts, the Sacramento Police Department Incident Report as well as photographs of the room after the break-​in and theft. In September 2013 (two months later), I received an acknowledgement receipt from Zurich (ADT’s Insurance Company) stating they had in fact received the claim from ADT.
My assistant began contacting Zurich to check on the status of the claim, after numerous unreturned phone calls and answers that they were still working on the claim drug out for over a month. Finally on October 31^st (over three months later), we received word from Zurich that they had denied the claim and ADT was not responsible for the break in/​loss of property at my office.
My extreme frustration stems from several places; first and foremost, the lack of responsibility that ADT took for our claim; it also stems from the amount of time it took ADT and their insurance company to process the claim. I paid for ADT’s security system to protect my office and belongings. It failed to do that. I expected further and speedier communication from ADT in response to the claim; I never heard anything from ADT directly. I certainly expected ADT and their insurance company to do whatever it takes to quickly process this claim so our loss can be recouped, and yet they refuse to take responsibility. They both admit their system did not work as designed from technical and customer service employees (including someone from Corporate), but then deny responsibility vis-​a-​vis their insurance company.
This situation has proven to me that ADT does not care about their customers, not really, and they will take no responsibility if their system fails to work. I am now out almost $ 2000.00 and many hours thanks to ADT’s failed system. In truth, for me it is not a financial situation because I do have liability insurance, and will be reimbursed in full for the loss. My issue is how they responded.
ADT cannot be trusted to protect your property or belongings and they cannot be trusted to follow through with any customer service complaints. It seems this is a trend that continues.
Should you look at my Unilocal reviews, you will find that most of mine are five star reviews. I do research and do business with exceptional companies. Please do your research on ADT prior to opening up yourself to a great deal of pain. If you are a former Brinks (or Broadview) client, consider the many other companies available to you. This is not the one.

Dear ADT and Gaylord Security Systems,
I hope you sleep well at night knowing you are such creative con artists! I especially love your sales department. They promised sidewalks full of gold and unicorns who endlessly shat sparkles and kittens. Except, your team of neanderthals can’t follow work orders. Maybe you need to pull out those Hardy Boy and Nancy Drew books and get your company some glasses to practice their reading skills.
I wish you many nights of diarrhea, perpetual hangovers, a severe allergy to alcohol and awful humidity for the next 500 years.
