This might be the worse breakfast I have ever tasted. I thought smoking was illegal indoors in California. Maybe I’m wrong. If you want food, do NOT eat here. If you enjoy vodka and cigarettes for breakfast, this is the place for you!

We found this little gem on one of our trips up to Bass Lake, taking a cruise around the surrounding roads. Drinks are great and well priced, service is friendly and the patrons are super friendly. I can’t say anything about the food because we didn’t eat there. We must’ve looked like outsiders, or maybe my boyfriend just makes friends every where we go, but several patrons approached us and were so friendly. We played pool, drank, played great classic rock on the jukebox and had a wonderful time. We now make it a point to stop by every time we’re in the area.

I’ve been to the Buckhorn Salon a few times. There is not much of a selection of restaurants in North Fork. I think the breakfast is the best meal here but it is really difficult to handle the cigarette smoke which is pretty intense even in the morning. I have opted to get a Buck Muffin to go when leaving town so I only have to deal with the smokey room when I pick up my food and not when I eating it.

This is a lovely, authentic old mountain saloon. Really fun to visit. Reminds of the wild west. Alice makes great food. Smokers in the bar are present adjacent to the restaurant which is the old thing that could be improved upon. This is a great local bar and out of town visitors are encouraged to stop in and give it a try.

I’m not really part of the cowboy hat and pickup truck type of crowd, but I love this place. Whenever I go backpacking out in Ansel Adams wilderness area, I stop by here on my drive out. Service is friendly despite the rough appearance of the place.

My family and I were staying up in this area and decided to stop and have breakfast at the Buckhorn Saloon. A lady working at the local grocery store recommended it so we thought we should give it a try! The breakfast was VERY good. Our food was hot and fresh. I ordered an egg and hash brown burrito and my boyfriend ordered the biscuits and gravy. Everything was delicious and the waitress was very friendly!

Great place for a burger and beer — real friendly small town feel. It’s not a shiny chain store, just a down-home road house Interesting that the negative reviews are all from the L. A. area …

Lots of people including the bartender smoking despite the signs to the contrary. Entire bar/restaraunt filled with smoke. Food was overpriced and tasted like it was from a box. Service was also very slow.

Like stepping into the biker bar in «Pee Wee’s Big Adventure,» my friends and I enjoyed a beer here. The owner, Alice is super friendly and fun to meet. We weren’t really prepared for cigarette smoke(we are spoiled Californians, after all), but we still enjoyed the biker vibe and friendly staff, not to mention the stuffed bears and antlers. Great place to people watch. If I return, I want to dress up like Pee Wee and dance on the bar to «Tequila» and then tip over the bikes on my way out.

Local bar in North Fork with friendly locals and bartender. The Irish coffee is good and the price is great! Great friendly local bar to stop by if you are in the area. Nice juke box and few TV play sport(Oregon won’t think). Overall it’s great local bar!

Been to the Buckhorn many times. Don’t go near closing time or the food is pretty bad and they are usually out of things. They have a good breakfast and lunch. They do allow smoking so it’s not a place for kids or people who can’t stand smoking. It’s very dusty and dirty and has broken taxidermy animals. It’s pretty much all there is to eat in North Fork so that explains the popularity. If they would clean the Buckhorn up and not allow smoking it would a great place.

I love the Buckhorn. I ride my motorcycle through the hills quite often and I always enjoy stopping at the Buckhorn for a beer and fries, and sometimes a hamburger. The burgers are great, and the staff is always super friendly and laid back. This is definitely a locals place though. It’s old and grungy and there’s dead animals mounted everywhere. But that’s what I think makes it kind of charming. Great place.

The definition of small town. The waitress was attractive and nice. Another lady shared her brittle with us. There are hogs, bears, and other animals stuffed on the wall throughout. Guns mounted on the ceiling. This place is probably a fire trap waiting to explode. I bet the health dept hasn’t been here in years. The thing is the food was ok. The service was ok. The place needs a good cleaning but I didn’t feel like I was dirty like I have in some Waffle Houses or Denny’s after leaving. I would come back but then again not much of a choice in this one horse town.

Stopped by Sat afternoon for a beer and cocktails with some friends after antique shopping in Mariposa. After a few pitcher(of good beer) and great cocktails(according to my wife), french fries, onion rings and hot wings it was almost closing time!(not really) Don’t be intimidated by the unshaven locals, they’re really friendly. Don’t be intimidated by the smoky walls and ceiling, this place is one of the last«local» establishments left in our«chain store» world! Good, dependable food but great beer and awesome drinks. I can’t wait till I can try their prime rib Fri night special the next trip up to Bass Lake!

The good always first: on our way in to our campsite in Bass Lake, we stopped for lunch at Buckhorns. Had pleasant service and they let us sit outside on the patio with our dogs.(Too hot to leave in our truck). The food was decent enough for bar food. We noticed the pool tables inside and the laid back atmosphere(a welcome contrast to Orange County CA) and decided we liked it. After several bear raids at our Bass Lake campsite, we decided to forgo cooking anything a bear might want– and headed back out to Buckhorns for dinner. The closest town aside from North Fork –Oakhurst– is your average cookie-cutter chain-restaurant town and we didn’t want to go somewhere we could go in our city. I checked Buckhorns website– and it said they served food until 8pm and the bar is open until 1am. We arrived at 7:40 pm– not a minute later. The waitress(different from our lunch waitress) said they weren’t serving food anymore. I said«that’s odd” — I thought you served until 8pm. She snickered and pointed at their clock«It says 8:03 on the bar clock and we’re on bar time». I very politely pleaded with her and asked if they could just cook a couple of burgers. There is no other restaurant within 10 miles– and she said no again. On my way out she(sarcastically) said«See ya’ll again next year». So apparently Buckhorn’s doesn’t want«out of towner» business. Which makes sense — obviously they were SO busy with all 10 «locals» sitting at the bar.(Sarcasm?) I give it 2 stars since we had a nice enough lunch– but you have a 50⁄50 chance of actually eating. Oh, and you also have a good chance of the North Fork sheriff pulling you over on your way out. We won’t be heading to North Fork ever again– I don’t care how many bears come to our campsite.

Upon walking in you could tell is was a super local crowd in the place, but once we sat down and our $ 2 draft beers we felt a bit more at home. The huge deer head above our table kept our 20 month old daughter in-line. Very funny. When the food came out it was really delicious! I am now a big fan of their wings and will be going back for more. The staff was also wonderful! One of the bartenders had a daughter who had some toys left around the place that they let our daughter play with. Everyone was extremely friendly. The only thing I could do with out would be the smoke, it wasn’t horrible or anything I am just not a fan of smoking. The place is defiantly rough around the edges but worth stopping in. We ended up having a great time in this local joint and would definitely recommend it to my friends!

I came here with my husband and inlaws and its an awesome place. The BBQ smelled AMAZING… but we were about to go BBQ ourselves so we didn’t eat. The drinks were quick and cheap and the service was great. If you are ever driving through its a great watering hole to check out!

Enjoyed a nice lunch with the family here. Freshly made iced tea, good burger, philly cheese steak, and BLT. Rustic décor including unusual nick-nacks and hunting souvenirs.
