Giovanni’s Roast Beef and Pizza

They stole my money!
This place never delivered, I called them after 2 hours and learned that the driver had lied to the owner and stolen my food and money! I’m pursuing legal action, it may not be much but DON’T GO NEAR THIS PLACE! They used to be great but the new guy there doesn’t want to help and refuses to believe the driver is a thief!

Jackie C, what a psycho. Anyways this place has some great food, especially their steak tips and chicken kabob. Been a long time customer and I also love their salads and house dressing. Owners are very friendly and the prices are fair. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for some great food!
The location is also prime, right on Boston road.

I have given this place a few chances. They take soo long for delivery but the salad i ordered that time was good again. They also gave me the wrong drink i ordered but i could get by that. then i got a turkey club and it tasted like oil. It was clearly fried. To the point my hands were covered in grease. Almost like a grilled cheese. Totally disgusting and just weird. And now! I ordered online an hr and a half ago. No order delivered. So i call them and the guy could not of cared less. Says they don’t have my order but i can place it with him now. No sorry. No discount. Very short with me. It was kind of like he thinks im lying and didn’t place an order online. No idea. But 3 strikes. you’re out. Too bad because they are close and i hate giving bad reviews but this place sucks :/

Ordered food tonight 2 hours before it was delivered. Called at the 1hr 15min mark, man told us it was the next to leave the store. Tried to call again, got put on hold then hung up on. Ordered two subs, one of the subs was over cooked and wrong.
We ordered pizza a few months ago from here and when it was delivered it must have slid off the seat or been dropped in transit. When we called, the lady we spoke to was awful, she wanted to send the driver back and us leave the pizza outside on our porch. Said she’d refund our money and never did.
We’ll never order from here again.

This place has horrible service. Don’t bother wasting your time ordering during busy hours because they do not know how to do their job under pressure.

I was recently in the area and had stopped in to grab something to eat. There was a young lady behind counter who was very polite and suggested the veggie deluxe pizza and the chicken kabob salad. Both were delicious and flavorful!!! The service was great and we didn’t have long to wait. I wish i lived closer so i could enjoy it more often. I will be making trips out there more often just for that pizza!

If I could give them lower than 1 star I would. Been a long time customer of Giovannis and never in my life will I go back. After placing a delivery order my food came after an hour and 15mins — unacceptable in my book. I order two chicken kabob subs with dressing on the side and two pizza rolls. The subs had chicken and feta cheese in them with no dressing, and the pizza rolls were egg rolls. I called back and they said my food would come back out correctly and they would take the old food. Food came back again — and the subs were corrected but the did not bring any dressing which was requested, and the pizza rolls were spinach rolls this time. I call back with extreme frustration — and all I was given was a «um sorry» — not mam we can refund this order. I do admit, I did swear but only after this went on for 3 hours and no courtesy was offered. I called back to speak with the manager on the following day and it was the same kid as the night before… he then explained he tried to offer me my money back but I didn’t give him a chance. Complete and utter lie — after chatting he said mam we will refund your money and get back in touch with you. After 4 days of no word — I call back and the owner tells me I lied and I am looking for a free meal. I explain to her I am not lying and she kept explaining to me she has has the same chef for 7 years he would never make this mistake. Told me she would not offer me a free meal I got what I ordered and was just looking to complain and hung up on me.
DISGUSTING customer service. Be careful they will rob you — cheats and liars!!! I have never in my life been so insulted by such an establishment that clearly does not care about their customers.
I am a professional and work in the customer service business and in all my life i have never encountered such bogus owners of a place.
Watch out before ordering from this place — you are giving money to people who are out for themselves and who clearly don’t believe customers!

This place used to be awesome. They had a young lady who seemed to be the manager. She kept everyone in line and orders were flying out the door. I have not seen her here for months and the service has gone right down the hole. The food still tastes the same but order that they say are ready in 15 minutes take about 30 minutes and your lucky if they get the order correct. I used to love this place but we won’t even consider it for lunch anymore.

Used to work here. Behind the counter and in the kitchen is disgusting. Though we used to clean up every night it never got better will all the grease and grime on the walls. Not to mention the greasy gross grills that NEED to be clean. I advise you all to stay away. I don’t know how they passed inspection.

We heard great things about this place but rate it as average. My bun on my roast beef was burned and the overall flavor of the roast beef was average. Not great– not bad. My two teenagers said the chicken strips were better than anywhere else closeby they’ve had and they loved them. My husband’s chicken parm calzone was good. My son’s mozzarella sticks tasted only like the bread crumbs they were wrapped in. The cheese was flavorless. They look and taste like the brand I get at Costco’s. My other son’s cheeseburger was average to good. They definitely got bonus points for the coupons on the flyer on the counter. I got all of this, fries and drinks for just over $ 40 for 6 people and THAT is awesome. We’ll stick with Mikey’s but would have spent $ 60 for this meal there.

Another crappy sub shop. Place is dirty looking inside the food is average at best and a little overpriced. They have a few good dishes but nothing to write home about. My buddies like to go here sometimes for lunch so I’m kinda going with the flow when I go but I avoid this place otherwise.

Great food. Friendly staff. Only complaint is when the order is called in, and then of coarse waiting a reasonable time to pick up, I usually have to wait another 15 — 20 minutes before the food is ready.

Very good Greek salad. Love the house dressing, I go out of my way once a week to get lunch here. Staff is friendly and food is consistent.

I order from this local wonder about once a week. My husband loves the drenched buffalo chicken fingers and I love their Greek salad!!! We have also enjoyed their buffalo chicken pizza, chicken parm sub, and calzones. Love the food! The only reason I didn’t give the fifth star is because the counter help (the ones who answer the phones) sometimes get our chix fingers order messed up with wings. It has happened a few times but we order there A LOT!!!

2 stars for the portion. Other than that… mediocre at best. I had ordered dinner for my girlfriend, her sister and myself. I had the pastrami. Wasn’t bad. A little messy and the sauce overpowered the taste of the pastrami. But then again, I haven’t had a decent pastrami since moving to the Boston area. GF had the Texas steak. Asked for the steak to be done medium rare. I’m no foodie, but my understanding of medium rare is a slight pink in the middle of the meat, not having the inside of the steak the same color as the outside. Supposedly was made with BBQ that neither one of us could taste. The Buffalo wings were flavorless until we added our own hot sauce to them.
2 stars for the portion. Other than that… meh.

I spend a few days a week in the area for work and Giovanni’s is my new favorite spot for a few reasons:
— Awesome, easy online ordering.
— Great selection.
— Prices are reasonable and portions are in line with what you pay.
— Service is good, never too long of a wait to pick up and pay.
I can recommend their homemade roast beef (great with tangy bbq sauce, which is also homemade) and their salads overall are top notch. If you are craving a steak tip salad, one of my personal favorite lunch items, this is a great choice.
I can’t give them 5 stars though … because of their «grilled bread» technique which is terrible! Recently I ordered a club sandwich and instead of toasted bread which I wanted, the default prep method on their online menu is grilled, which is basically butter sponges. Horrible and inedible… I had to remove the insides of the sandwich in order to eat it.
If you love sopping, greasy bread, maybe this will appeal to you. Otherwise you can be safe and specify a lot of other options on how you want it prepared and you should be good to go!
I’m curious if any other Unilocalers had this experience with the over-​buttery grilled bread, or maybe it was just an anomolly…

Every time I’m at work, I always make sure to order from here. My favorite is the Mac n Cheese Bites! They are so awesome. It makes me sad that no other place makes them, but it’s a treat when I order from here. Roast beef sandwiches are pretty delicious too. Can’t wait til next week to order from here again!

Eggplant parmesan is the best I have had from a sub shop… and you can get your side as raviolis making it taste more like an eggplant lasagna. Reheats well all week which is big with me because the portion could easily feed four people, for under $ 9. Garlic bread is worth getting if you are going to eat it right away. I have been craving eggplant parm lately since eating here, and I have yet to find somewhere that can satisfy me like Giovanni’s.

I have eaten here 3 times, take out only. Make sure you ask for a menu, they have some great coupons in there. A few combo meal specials, but also a few bucks of a certain amount.
I have picked up my food all 3 times, so I can’t speak to their delivery drivers, the food is always hot and ready when I get there to pick it up. I ordered a ham & cheese calzone with peppers and onions, it was huge and packed with ham and cheese. The onions could have been a little crisper but it was still delicious.
The roast beef sauce is also very good. Not sure if it’s a store brand or an in house sauce either way it’s a nice addition to the large roast beefs I get.
