I enjoyed my dining experience at La Kausa. Their homemade bread, Arroz de Mariscos and Pescado Sudado was delicious. Another perk is that it is BYOB! I will definitely return to try their fish ceviche!

Best little spot in North Bergen! Perfect for seafood. I LOVE the shrimp ceviche and salmon carpaccio. I’ve had almost everything on the menu and I’ve never been disappointed. Main dishes are mostly Peruvian. Appetizers and sandwiches mostly Chilean. BYOB& there is a liquor store next door. Waitresses are attentive and make you feel like family! Really great priced lunch specials(choice of soup, meat, two sides, dessert, water or soda only $ 7) They even deliver this special! And they include every side/condiment you may need, amazing! Had a few birthday parties here and will definitely have many more. Be sure to order the milhojas cake in advance. A+++++

This is for sure one of the best places in North Bergen — amazing food, good prices and friendly staff. One of those hidden gems that you want to share with everyone who’s passionate about Peruvian food. Had the spicy ceviche mixto(which is really spicy by the way, but you can order the non-spicy one also) with some chicha morada, a Peruvian classic. The fish and the seafood was perfect — fresh and not chewy, simply amazing. The leche de tigre was amazing also, I was having it as a soup, yet I was crying(and enjoying every second) with the spiciness of the food. Cannot wait to go back there and try the other dishes, since everything seems so good(I could not stop staring at other people’s dishes…). Keep up the amazing food and service, please do not change a bit.

Every time I go to this place I get the best hospitality. For a restaurant on Bergenline Avenue, it’s never really that crowded nor do you feel rushed. The staff is very attentive and communicate really well with their customers. I give them a A+ for customer service. Now the food, overall, is tasty. It’s a Peruvian restaurant but there’s not that much variety in Peruvian dishes which is crazy to me because Peru has one of the best cuisines in the world. Their Tallarin Verde with Bistec is my absolute favorite. The sauce is delicious(even though I wish it was a little thicker). The Chicha Morada is so tasty. The Kausa is really good too. For food, I’ll give them a B+ only because I wish there was more variety. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Check them out!

They are always so friendly, and I love the empanadas! Liquor store a couple doors down, but they also have many different flavored sodas.

The absolute WORST dining experience my husband and I can recall having in recent years. We were craving Peruvian cuisine and based on the existing 15 reviews(which I’m now convinced must be from patrons whom are trying to help this restaurant) we decided to give La Kausa a try. The ceviche is advertised as having octopus and mussels and it did not have either. This could have been forgiven if the remaining seafood would have at least been fresh! It was hardly edible! The beef in the arroz chaufa was overcooked and appeared to have been sitting all day before it was served. Finally, the jalea appeared to be breaded frozen seafood out of a bag! The calamari was like rubber and had no flavor whatsoever — the rest of the seafood was not any better! I normally would not take the time to write such a lengthy review but after wasting over $ 50 on 3 dishes(before the tip — and yes, we left a tip because the service was good and it’s not the server’s fault this restaurant is awful and overpriced) but I felt like I needed to try to spare others from succumbing to the misleading reviews about this restaurant! Beware!!!

I came back on July 2nd. This time, my experience was completely different from the last one. I tried the ceviche and it was absolutely good! A little salty but hey it definitely was worth it. Fish was fresh, and the touch on the citric juices were on point.

This place is great. They have great palta rellena. But making someone wait for two hours for a plate of food is beyond ridiculous. And when you ask about it to be said«it’s by the time you come in» when clearly tables in front that came in after us get their food first is ridiculous. Plus the guy that was our server SUCKS. he is rude unlike the girls that work here. If you go there DONOTGETTHEGUY.

We went here past weekend with some friends. Also had 4 kids in the group. This is an excellent family restaurant .The food was great — we ordered cerviche and calamari… very impressed with it.(so impressed that my husband went back next day for some more cervice and desserts) The Flan and Tiramisu we ordered was lapped up in no time .we had to order more. The customer service was excellent too… very friendly staff .We will definitely go back and recommend this place to others

Absolutely savory peruvian food! The service was excellent, the place had a warm home feeling, and the portions were great! It was four of us and we ordered three dishes. Great food on an even better budget.

Excellent service and quality food. It’s hard coming across a restaurant that will cater exactly to your needs, particularly in this area. La Kausa is a family owned business that feels and tastes like home. The food is prepared a la minute which not many restaurants do, it’s different from the rest. Not only is the food great, but let me not forget to mention the prices are very reasonable for the large portions you receive. There is an endless amounts of options from appetizers to tasty entrees, even mouth watering desserts and the rich coffee. The owners are also some of the most inviting people I’ve met, I absolutely recommend this place to anyone with a good appetite.

We came with 25 people after an afternoon party and they were able to seat us right away when we showed up(did we call before). The staff was attentive and very nice. It was a BYOB, which made it very affordable. The portions very huge! The causa app is like a meal in itself. The flavor of the food could have been a lil better. it was a lil bland, hence the 4 stars, but definitely still eatable. My friends had the lomo saltado and jalea, which were better than my tallarin verde con bisteck. The papa a la huancaina could have a lil more kick to it too. The starter bread was awesome though. I would recommend it to big eaters :)

Decided to have dinner to go. Ordered the pork dinner with rice and churrasco with rice. The pork was dry and hard to chew, it was over cooked. The churrasco was very tender and juicy. I had the French fires with it which cost a extra 3.75! For a little bit of French fries! That’s was expensive. But overall if you looking for a decent place to eat try it out…

First time coming here, right by the 80th street park. First off the customer service is delightful. The food was incredibly inexpensive, had the chicken with fries as a meal, bottled iced water as a drink, Empanadas with cheese for an appetizer, bread starter and rice pudding with cinnamon and raisins as a desert. ALL for less then 7 dollars! Unbelievable but there’s only one way to find out, and that’s the hard way. Coming back soon, I know there are more things on the menu that will change this from a 4 star to a 5 star. Haha.

Went here for a late dinner. We had the loma saltado, creamy seafood with rice, and shrimps with some type of sauce. The shrimps were the best. The portions are huge. Two of us couldn’t finish 2 entrees and 1 appetizer. The service is good

I like to try every Peruvian restaurant I find and La Kausa was not an exception. Let’s start saying that the ambient is nice, big TV at the end wall with usually soccer games and the personnel is very helpful and friendly. The food has its ups and downs. All the appetizers were very good, the Causa de Pollo, Cebiche and overall the Palta(avocado) Rellena. I was not that hungry so I ordered a Sopa Minuta… uauh!, what a good tasty soup; it has angel hair, beef and an excellent broth. The low part were my wife and brother entrees… they each ordered a Lomo a lo Pobre($ 17.99) a dish with a sirloin, fried eggs and french fries… it shouldn’t be that hard, right?. Well, the piece of sirloin was one third fat! Not an appealing look at all. For the price, I was expecting a better quality of meat. In general, a good place if you want to eat decent Peruvian food.
