Church’s Chicken

Drove by the other day, all the lights are off & the place is being cleared out. This place is CLOSED for business.

Went in for first time, ordered a 10 piece mix, chicken had a distinct after
oil probably is old. chicken was bland and greasy. Order 2 piece before u commit to a large order I’ll stick with chicken delight or kfc.

Chicken was bad. (old and very hard)
No coleslaw. Over cooked French fries.
Poor service.
Terrible place.

Poor service, asked for all thighs they said no, I dont understand there are people who prefer breast meat, legs, thighs, KFC and Popeyes never seems to have an issue, horrible demeanor by staff– luckily there are other eateries in the area.

The chicken was good BUT, they are out of alot of things. No biscuits, no spicy chicken, only one piece of corn, etc… The staff was nice enough but it turned into this «big negotiation» at the register for my sides– «sorry sir, we don’t have any biscuits but, we’ll give you another side» Me: Ok give me corn — Sorry, no corn, Ok give cole slaw. Etc… And to boot they had no small cole slaw so they gave me the large family size. Kudos to the kid behind the counter to try and make it work but, still not the way its supposed to be,

I’ve eaten a here a few times, and I’d say it’s okay for a chicken spot. I’ve never had a bad experience and can’t complain about anything, but at best it’s mediocre.
1) The chicken is okay. Not particularly great, but not bad either. The fried chicken is crispy and not overly greasy, which is a plus. The sides are also just okay. The best thing on the menu are the biscuits tho! Sometimes I go there just for that. Lol
2) The service is pretty quick, and the employees are nice and easygoing. The store itself has a lot of seating and always generally clean.
3) They share a small parking lot with a Dunkin Donuts. It can be a little tight sometimes, but not bad.
I mainly go here because it’s conveniently located, and I do get a craving for the biscuits every now and then. Lol

FRESH OFF THE BOAT FROM CUBA CUSTOMER SERVICE
Don’t bother going here unless you want fresh off the boat from Cuba customer service… I stood there waiting for my food as I watched three employees in the back that we’re supposed to be preparing it laughing and having a good time and carrying on until eventually I canceled my order and asked for my money back… Never even got to try the food. For actual food comments, see the rest of the reviews… They don’t fare much better… Bottom line: DON’T SPEND YOUR $ HERE!

The fried chicken wasn’t seasoned. Mashed potatoes were extremely watery and tasteless. Fried Okra and biscuits were decent. The pasta for the mac and cheese was over cooked, probably from sitting around all day. The pasta kept breaking as I tried to scoop it up. The mac and cheese also had no flavor. The credit card machine was not working when we went there so had to run over to the store next door and pay the atm fee. Only reason we went there was because I had purchased a LivingSocial deal and it was new to our area. I had been to the one in Puerto Rico and the quality of food was much better over there. This location, not so much.

Chicken has a different taste. I’ve definitely had better fried chicken in this part of Hudson County.

Have gone here a few times because the chicken is good and not as greasy as some others. I would pass on the mashed potatoes though, tried them twice and both times they tasted like they were going sour. Good fries although a little more salt than needed. Mac & cheese just ok, corn is good but if you order a meal, some of the workers will tell you that you only get 1 corn on the cob and make you pay for a second one which is wrong. LOVED the purple pepper sauce they had but they discontinued it for some reason so that is a TOTAL disappointment but the girl said we have hot & spicy sauce so I said ok give me that, she gave me bbq sauce lol.
Even though there is usually no one in there when I go it seems you have to wait a long time and some of the workers seem like they don’t want to be there.
We keep going back because we like the chicken but other than that there is nothing else about this place I can rave about.

Very friendly service. But the food is slightly better in the south. My okra (the only reason I really went) was very soggy. However the sweet tea was very tasty! I doubt i’d go back. Nice try though!

No Okra and no fried chicken livers (which I though was a Church’s thing… guess just some locations). I bought a chicken sandwich here that was poor… Most recently I ended up here as a last resort. I ordered a three piece meal. The chicken was crispy and tasted good. I got it with mac and cheese and a biscuit. Biscuit was really good and the mac and cheese was disappointing at best!

Very good food! Chicken golden brown nice and crispy. Had it once in Texas and fell In love! Although there was two cashier girls one I think her name was Ashley she was very nice and professional. Great up seller I must say. The other girl was loud and fooling around with all the boys in the back not a great look on the restaurant. I waited for my order a total of 3 minutes which was good. The biscuits are HEAVEN! I will certainly be returning.
(Just better the staff please!)

Great chicken, still debating if its as good as the one in P. R but not bad at all, great honey biscuits, chicken is not as greasy as most fast foods, and the cheesy jalapeños are recommended if you like spicy food. Great friendly service as well, will be back.
