It always seems to rain in North Bend. But it is a rain forest. The sites are clean. We came with a large group and lots of kids. It was great for us.

2 stars for the crowds and the gravel road. No where in the stuff I read did it mention this 12 miles of gravel road(unless I missed it). It is pretty rough, even the what looked like most suited vehicles where being very cautious. As far as the crowds go… the state forest service website said«low usage» HA! It was full, all 36 spots. And if you have kids its the place to be. We don’t have kids and do like some quiet. This was not the place for that. It was very pretty, and neat, almost to neat, looked like a movie set almost. The campsites are VERY close to eachother with no trees in between. We were staring at our neighbors while sitting at the fire and they were staring back at us. I think we were probably only 25ft. away from them in full view. Also, the vault toilets stink! And yes I have been to campgrounds with vault toilets and they don’t smell like this.

LOVED this campground! My friends and I went here over Memorial Day weekend 2010 and we had a fantastic time. Plenty of helpful amenities at this site: picnic tables, pit toilets, BBQ grills, drinking water, dumpsters, and plenty of parking. There were group sites as well as regular-sized sites. Some campsites are set a little close to each other, but we were fortunate to have a site that was in the more wooded area of the campground. We did have a campsite next to us, but the campers were only there half the time we were. It was very quiet and we were close to the bathrooms(though not close enough to see — or smell! — them). There is some great nearby hiking that we really enjoyed. The trail was easy to get to — signs within the campground pointed the way to the trail. There was also a short nature trail that brought you near to the Taylor River. It was easy to alter course and wander down to the river to check it out. The area is beautiful and the campground is in an easily accessible area not too far from North Bend.
