One star, because I only learned of this place recently, and having seen they were on vacation recently I ventured over today. I dropped a quarter into the meter, walked to the front door, and a handwritten sign said ‘closed until further notice’. I’d call if you plan to visit, but not re-opening after a ‘vacation’ isn’t usually a good sign. I’m disappointed, because the reviews I’ve seen looked like it might be a terrific place.

A little confusing. Cute place. I guess it depends when you go whether you know to seat yourself or if someone comes. The menu is pretty small I’m not sure where all the pictures on Unilocal came from because I feel like I didn’t see any of that. My bf was impressed and enjoyed his food but I thought it was kind of regular and not worth the trip. Interesting artwork and atmosphere though. Also you’re assaulted by the subway smell the whole time.

The coffee, the fact that they offer boylan on tap and that they are located near the bus terminal is the main reason for the three stars. I came here on a tuesday morning with a friend. We both ordered café au lait(coffee with milk) and for entrees i got the french toast with«berries» and friend got the egg scrambler. In a nutshell, everything lacked flavor. My french toast was decent but i feel the syrup is what made it edible. The«berries» was simply 2 strawberries sliced up. My friends scrambler came with eggs that you had to add cheese to for an additional fee, and«homefries» that was nothing more than potatoes fried with some cajun season thrown over it as an after thought. She ended up having to throw salt over everything. Also on the french toast they add the syrup for you instead of putting it on the table for your usage. The best thibg i had there was the coffee, it was nicely flavored, strong and couldve been complimentary toward the food had it been good. Overall, i doubt ill be back.

Coffee is outstanding. I love my coffee black no sugar and their fresh New Jersey roasted blend has a nice edge with a smooth aftertaste. The soups are always delicious, with cream of mushroom my personal favorite and the only place my wife enjoys the onion soup. French fries are seasoned not just salted, and the bacon wrapped ones are great too. Sundays they have a very nice buffet brunch, with bacon thats not blobbery but also not over cooked. Owners are very pleasant and so is the staff. The place is always clean even the bathroom. Plenty of street parking and a really nice vibe.

Another place that doesn’t disappoint me. This time we called in for just dessert and coffee and WOW it was so freakin good! We had friends over and our sweet tooth started acting up so my husband and his friend drove 2 towns over to pick up“many things” at this wonderful place. OHHOW I WISH I TOOKPICTURES!!! My cell phone wasn’t by my side and we devoured our desserts. We had the following: (Mind you, the desserts change up — so call and ask or just go there and drool) So we had(our favorites amongst 4 people in order from top to bottom): 1. Bread Pudding Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup — WOW — so fresh and the chocolate and peanut butter was so balanced — OMG I would of eaten the whole thing by myself. 2. Salted Caramel Cake — Moist and not too sweet especially that’s it caramel. This would be great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. 3. Devil’s Food Cake — this was very chocolate heavy — more like fudge, but if you’re a chocolate fan like me, you would love it. I could only eat a few bites because it really was too heavy. 4. NY Style Cheesecake — can’t go wrong with this. Nice and creamy and I still have some leftover so I’ll be tearing that apart later tonight. I also ordered an Almond Joy coffee which is a fave of mine when I first ate here. I definitely will be back!!!

This place is amazing! I walked in over a year ago for a coffee. The atmosphere and staff drew me in for another visit. Now I visit throughout the week and every Sunday for their amazing brunch. It’s nice to be able to go somewhere, where they know your name and see you as a person and not revenue. I am part of the angry coffee bean family!

Went here on Valentines Day with my girlfriend. Ordered pecan french toast and red velvet pancakes. The servers were super sweet, even including little additions to our meals for the lovey dovey occasion. They also have colored pencils and paper for you to draw on, if you want to embrace your inner artist. Would definitely recommend! c:

I came here after dinner with my boyfriend tonight looking for a local café. I found this place and it was really nice. It’s a hidden gem and the owners are super friendly. It’s family owned and I’m always scoping out for places like this. The desserts are really good and their coffees are awesome. It’s small but cozy inside. They serve not just coffee and desserts, but food as well. I will be back to try their food. I got a macchiato and cheese cake and my boyfriend got a Nutella peanut butter bread pudding. That was amazing!!! Please forever keep that!(Bread pudding) He also got a frappé with salted caramel. Yummmm!!! Great place with awesome service and nice owners. It’s reasonably priced and there’s outdoor seating for when the warmer weather comes in. Will be back soon!!!

I give them 4 stars just for being a husband wife team and working together! Went for brunch, good food, nice atmosphere, good coffee, good service. I have to comment on the scrambled eggs. I’ve had breakfast buffets for 40 years, and without fail the eggs are undercooked, and I’ve never been fully convinced they were actually eggs. Their scrambled eggs are the real deal, cooked like you would for yourself. OK, the sausages were delicious as well. Perfectly cooked. All in all a pleasure to eat there. Family owned, they pay attention to details, support the local musicians, hold dog adoption events… An unexpected gem.

Wow, what a great find! Between the deal for brunch(all cooked fresh), some of the best lattes I have ever had, and the amazing service, I gotta say, I really like this place. Add on some great artwork on the walls and this place is a real winner.

I haven’t been dissappointed with anything yet, so be adventurous and don’t be scurred to try anything off their menu!

Came here with a friend wanting to catch their brunch menu but unfortunately we were 20 mins too late :(That didn’t stop us from ordering off their lunch menu though! I ordered their Stuffed Burger(the stuffed filling changes on a daily basis) which was stuffed with bacon and cheddar cheese while my friend ordered the Roast Beef Sandwich. Can i just say how unbelievably delicious their food was?! Plus their fries were just perfectly seasoned and cooked that i literally could not stop eating them. In my opinion, it was probably the best batch of fries ive had in a while and i didnt even order their truffle fries! I ordered food to-go for my brother: a Philly Cheesesteak with all the works and Bacon Wrapped Fries. yes, you read that correctly: BACONWRAPPEDFRIES! My brother said the sandwich was really good but he was super happy about the fries which were insanely delicious. Bacon + fries = heaven With this place being a coffee house café, we did order coffee with our meals. I really appreciate that this café has the option of almond milk. My friend and i really liked the quirky yet artsy décor. The furniture didnt really bother me, I thought it was fine. Our server was extemely nice, in fact their whole staff was. I definitely recommend this place and will be back again to catch brunch and more lunch :)

Intimate, funky and cute place. Theres various types of artwork on the wall that will keep you entertained. The drink menu has some interesting types of both hot and cold coffee, and the food menu is even better. Things are made fresh daily and theres some dishes for vegetarians. What turned me off was the pricing. They nickle and dime everything. This will not be a $ 10 meal at a regular diner or coffee house. I got the paramesean fries which said they were 5.50 but turned into almost $ 8 because i asked for their fry sauce on the side. it was a small thing of sauce, probably the same size as a mcdonalds honey mustard – but i got charged almost $ 2 more. redic. Also i ordered a frozen peanut butter hot choc which was amazing, my mouth is watering up now just thinking about it. but once again there was some weird charge extra for«peanut butter». My friend got a burger that was amazing, stuffed with cheese and bacon but once again something we thought said $ 10 on the menu turned into $ 13. over all, we enjoyed our food and drinks. the atomosphere and our waitress but they stock up on these weird prices and charges and feel $ 13 for a burger that was good but too pricy for this small place was redic. also, my fries were great but $ 8 for that size and sauce were completely lame. id come back here just for a coffee.

I’m holding back one star because they don’t have any couches or comfy chairs. I feel like every true café needs to have a couple couches and chairs, especially if they host an open mic night, which this place does. Central Perk, anyone? Huh? Anyway, aside from the lack of comfortable lounging furniture, I have absolutely no complaints. The owner was working the counter and happily answered all of our questions and chatted us up about the menu, eventually telling us about a video Unilocal shot there. The other servers were efficient and helpful, checking on us often, and The owner worked closely with them without smothering or micro-managing. I had a cardamom latte and my hubby had a Gibraltar. Mine was perfection – so soothing and just a little bit savory. My husband’s was strong, but very tasty. They have some great beans for their espresso roast. We also shared a cinnamon sugar scone, which was small by American standards, but perfect for one person. It was just the right amount of crumbly and sweet.

I went here on 2÷15÷13 and I’ll be honest I didn’t have coffee, so mums the word on coffee. I did have a a French Dip burger(I believe that’s the name) with the onion rings, cheese and BBQ sauce. The burger was great I would go back just for that burger. That said there were some temperature issues, I ordered medium rare and got medium and the rest of my table ordered their burgers medium and got well done. With that said, the burgers were still very good(the reason we didn’t send it back.) The wait staff was great and very accommodating! Its BYOB folks! Come on!!! Were are you gonna bring your own beer/wine and have a great burger at the same time? Oh yeah that one shop on the corner of nowhere. Anyway they had live entertainment, it was open mic so that could either be a great thing or a bad thing depending on who’s on the mic. We had the fortune of having a gentleman with a great voice and an acoustic guitar, so it worked in our favor. All in All folks give this place a shot and you just might like it. For me and my family we were very happy and will go back again.

I was surprised I did not like this place based on the rave reviews. Food: Mediocre. To start the coffee was not good; I couldn’t drink it black. The oatmeal was okay, but after eating it I realized they didn’t put any berries in it. Just bananas and walnuts. My friend ordered the Viking meal and the eggs were rubbery along with the cheese not being melted. The potatoes tasted like they may have been frozen. Service: The lady who helped us was very nice. Took a while to pay the bill though. Atmosphere: Eh wasn’t bad. Had that eclectic red wall black furniture coffee house feel. I did like the paintings on the wall, very cool. I probably wouldn’t come here again, but it has potential I guess.

Nothing But(French Toast) This was a gelateria Now they have pancakes and bacon you got it, you got it We bought the french toast Now we got something for brunch we got it, we got it If this is paradise I wish I had a bigger stomach you’ve got it, you’ve got it The locals would know this used to be Sotto Zero, a really awesome ice cream shop that blended small batch flavors of gelato(my fave was fresh kiwi). Miss that place. That said, The Angry Coffee Bean is great little eatery that will definitely make a lot of the locals less dependent on JC or Rutherford for a similar experience. High ceilings, just artsy enough with original artwork on the walls and a mic and sound system in place for poetry and music on Friday and Saturday nights. They brew a really good, strong cup of coffee. Great, if limited, selection of breakfast, brunch and lunch items. Free wi-fi. Came here during their Sunday Brunch hours of 9am-3pm when they offer a special menu. I ordered the French Toast stuffed with Nutella and Bananas and I really do wish I had a bigger stomach because I couldn’t finish it all. I was also tempted by the Red Velvet Pancakes, perhaps next time. If you eat meat and come here super hungry get The Viking, it offers a little something of everything: two egg cheese omelet, buttermilk pancakes, bacon, sausage, roasted potatoes and toast all on one giant plate. Service was great. Can’t wait to come back! I dream of granola yogurt parfaits cappuccinos and scones you got it, you got it Don’t leave me stranded here I can’t get used to the calories
