The absolute best cannolli in the Chicago area. But be sure you eat them as soon as you get home(or on the way if you can’t wait). Crisp pastry, and creamy sweetened ricotta filling, with pistachios on the ends. If you need to keep for several hours, do not refrigerate or the pastry shells get soft. Delicious, and all our friends with whom we’ve shared them, agree they are the best!

They make the, hands down, BEST cannoli’s I have ever had! They come in two sizes and you can choose chocolate chip or pistachios on the end, I prefer the pistachios. The sweet rolls are also amazing. They even have pizza dough, which I cannot wait to try.

My husband and kids made a trip here this morning for donuts, and as I saw on TV, the chocolate donut was delicious! I was not sure how a donut could be so good, but it was fantastic, huge, and freshly prepared. I cannot wait to visit myself!

Definitely the best chocolate donuts I’ve ever had. These donuts are not only huge and covered in a thick chocolate frosting, but they are made with quality ingredients. Moist, fresh, and delicious. I am 26 miles away, so I got a dozen and froze a bunch of them. A simple smile and a little pleasant banter would have earned the 5th star. I work in customer service, and I do it all the time. It’s an important part of serving others that was lacking during my first two visits. Don’t let that detour you. It’s not a big deal, just puzzling for me. These donuts rock, and the cookies were great. There’s plenty more to try, too. Lots of pastries left to explore for me.

Came here on a day off after seeing them on ‘Chicago’s Best’ for having the best chocolate donuts around. Being both donut-shaped and a donut connoisseur and needing Christmas breakfast, I drove the 45 minutes to see if this place was worth the hype. I got there around 10:30 with a line of about 7 – 8 people, which is a good sign, except I am a bit claustrophobic and the place is pretty small. I had to wait about 5 – 10 minutes, which wasn’t bad. Service was very quick, warm and friendly. I bought 6 donuts and 2 eclairs since I had no cash ABD there was a $ 10 minimum to use credit cards. Total was around $ 11, a little pricey to me but not terrible. I waited to get home to try one. It was worth the hype. The donuts are fried cake but incredibly moist and airy. The chocolate icing is more like a fudge and is awesome. Great place and the best donuts I have ever had!!! Just wish this place was much closer!

Allegretti’s Bakery has the Best Chocolate Cake Donuts Ever. Ace and his staff has taken good care of the Carlsen Family for Over 25 years. Friendly prompt service with excellent quality bakery products at a fair price. From Ridgewood Football & Baseball to Giles Basketball, always a must stop when in the area.

I’ve tried a few items at Allegretti’s and for the most part, they’re spot on. My brother, who loves donuts more than a district-full of police officers said the chocolate donuts are the best he’s had. I like them as well — a pretty thick layer of chocolate frosting and the cake part is pretty decent too — one of the heavier donuts I’ve ever had. I also like their chocolate chip coffee cake — loaded with chocolate chips in and out — but not overbearingly sweet. Blueberry muffins were outstanding as well, but since ordering them my first time there a few weeks ago, I’ve not been able to get there when they have them on hand. Bummer. They also have some round pizzas — often topped lightly with onions available for sale. I tried one and it was OK — a little too tomatoey for me. Advantage D’amatos. But overall, this place is worth the trip — reasonably priced, nice staff and great baked goods.

My sister ordered a cannoli cake for her husband’s 30th and the bakery asked what colors for the writing… she says«I guess Halloween colors since that’s his birthday». Went to go pick up what we thought would be just orange and black«happy birthday» writing and got THIS.(See cake in photos) So cool! Way to go above and beyond! This is our go to bakery. Big fan of their cake donuts and whip cream frosted cakes. Seriously just the BEST. Can’t sing their praises enough.

The BEST chocolate donuts I’ve ever had. But I am giving one star because they do NOT make enough!!! They’re gone every time I get there! Bullshit.

I decided to use Allegretti’s bakery because they had a groupon. I was super happy to have discovered a fantastic bakery that made awesome cupcakes for my friends shower. Delicious and reasonably priced! I will definitely use them again:)

The chocolate cake donuts are the best I have ever had. And the pizza bread — if you are lucky to get it before it sells out… DELICIOUS! Honestly, everything I have had there is so good and when I bring it to parties or for guests, they cannot stop complimenting.

Wow, unbelievable awesome, fresh donuts. I just tasted them yesterday at work and was really blown away by the taste and freshness of them. I love donuts, but I don’t eat them that often because that aren’t exactly health for you. In the 40 years I have eaten donuts… these are the best I have every tried. I will now have to try their cannolis… let’s see how they compared to Caputo’s cannolis(my all-time favorite)

Delicious, delicious, DELICIOUS pastries! My mother introduced me to this cute little, family owned bakery with their chocolate covered pound cake. Instantly fell in love. Allegretti’s has plenty of options and are creative with their desserts! Would totally recommend them to others for the pound cake, cannoli’s, and cookies.

This establishment has been here for years! Coming here on St. Joseph’s Day/San Giuseppe to order nothing else but our traditional Italian St. Joseph’s Day sweet, zeppole. The demand is so high today, that there are over 15 people waiting in this small bakery for the zeppole to finish being made. Selling so many, they can’t keep up. Allegretti’s was also featured on NBC’s Chicago Fire a few months back. Great neighborhood bakery.

I’m a huge fan of good pastries, their coffee cakes are very good but the cherry strudel is fenomenal !!! The best in Chicago area so far. I’m giving 4 stars because coffee cakes and strudels are the only goodies I tried from their selection.

Kind of sad. I got there today at 7:30am. I had an appointment nearby. I wanted to bring donuts. Also had to get rye bread and such for myself. Well, I left. I waited awhile and there was only 1 employee helping people. It would have been 8 before I was taken. I went to Sweet Connections instead. Not the same but I got in and out.

I blame my mom and aunt. They introduced me to donuts from Allegretti’s and ever since, I crave them. I dream about them. I need them. It’s the only thing I’ve had from there thus far but, woah, talk about a beautiful donut. My favorite is the frosted cake. Their frosting is nice and crisp and the cake super moist. In fact, now I’m going to have to go there in the morning tomorrow because writing this review is making me need donuts again. Thanks, Unilocal
