I bought my first legal six pack here– Goose Island’s India Pale Ale. I gotta give them props for their small beer selection for a College liquor store. I saw Three Floyd’s in there at one time. I came to knew the older guy, well, he came to knew me on many an occasion to the point when I forgot my license he let me slide. Their selection ain’t top of the line if 707 can top it, but location location location. Typically used as a jump off point, I could count on finishing my 40of King Cobra before jumping the tracks, or a third of a case of Miller Lite. Price wise? pretty standard, not too high. As long as that handle of Smirnoff Black is under twenty, you’re set.

I have to second Justin V.‘s review of U-Liq. This was always my go-to place to buy booze or any other sorta liquor, when I was going to Illinois State. Way better prices than Midtown Liquor, and a lot less crowded than there. Only drawback I can think of this place is that occasionally, this place wouldn’t carry certain vodkas or other types of liquor that were available at the liquor store at Linden Ave. and the railroad tracks(I think that liquor store was called Budget Liquors, but I feel so stupid that I’m only 1 semester removed from going to Illinois State, as I’m currently taking a break from going to school here(but am planning to return to school here at some future point), and ALREADY forgetting the name of it). Whatever… Just wish I could’ve discovered the fun that went on in the back room of here, under the old owners of this place, and probably pre-dated when I went to Illinois State. :) Anyways, as tempting as going to Midtown Liquors is(as it’s right next to Z’s, an addictively good fast food place that stays open late), I’d so much rather go here or to Budget Liquors on Linden Ave., before stepping foot in Midtown. Heck, 707 Liquors is probably better too, though I never quite went there during my time at ISU.
