We came here for early dinner during their happy hour, and OOHMY! Their margaritas are STRONG!!! We got the Jalapeño Margs and WOW, my boyfriend had to help me finish it because with every sip I thought I was drinking pure tequila. They brought us the regular salsa and chips, and I have to say that their salsa tasted like Ragu tomato sauces, but when I asked our waiter for REAL salsa I was not disappointed! So if you are like me that judges«Mexican» restaurants according to the quality(and spiciness) of their salsa, just ask your waiter for the REAL deal. I ordered the chicken fajitas and they were really good! They came with a side of rice and beans that actually tasted like real Mexican food.

This is one of the«nicer» Mexican restaurants I’ve been to and I’ve seen quite a few. The complimentary chips and salsa were good. Service wasn’t too bad on Saturday night they were a Lil busy. The food. not bad although the shell for my taco salad was a teensy bit burnt they didn’t even ask if it was ok for me. I know they noticed it was burnt guess they assumed I wouldn’t mind… and I didn’t.it was still good but they could’ve acknowledge it’s burntness lol.

Yeah I’m not gonna lie this place was pretty on point, and the Aztecs themselves would be proud ;) Good job guys, keep doing what your doing and your stars will go up for sure. I got the texas fajitas, pretty darn good with the caramelized onions. NOICEEEEEE!!!

I ordered table-side guac and the guacamole was not made table side. My sister ordered a carna esada and the beef was dry and under seasoned. I ordered the nachos and they came out a little bit too salty. Would not recommend this location but love the one in Chesapeake on cedar road. And the waiter was okay. He came back now and again but he didn’t check up often enough. This place is also hard to find. It hidden beside the granby theater

Keeping this simple, so don’t mess this up. Get the Fajitas and a Frozen Margarita. Best thing, ever.

Terrible! Food was too salty and flat out did not taste good! Enchiladas? Disappointing Quesadillas? Disappointing And I don’t normally write reviews but geez. Maybe I had a bad cook or something, it is Monday after all… Happy hour drink specials were good tho

Seriously don’t spend the money. Service is not great, I’ve been waiting for a water refill the entire dinner, and I refuse to ask again out of embarrassment for myself and the waitress. Husband special ordered no onions on a quesadilla, and well you know the rest to that statement. Rice and beans are bland, I would rather have boxed Goya brand rice and it’s clear it’s not made to order. I feel cheated out of my money, truly. Sorry Plaza Azteca on Granby, you all need help.

First time here and was not impressed. Service sucked. The food was nothing out of the ordinary from other Mexican restaurants and was overpriced. I did not like their menu options. We shared a Texas fajita entrée– the steak, chicken, and shrimp was far from tender. More chewy and a little too salty. I’m happy with going to other Mexican restaurants like El Gran Rodeo, where the quality and price is perfect.

The servers were friendly and the food was pretty good. I got the enchiladas Puerto with shrimp and crab meat and they were very good. I also tried the table side guacamole and that was very good too. I cleaned my plate and was full afterwards. My only suggestion to the servers are to check on refills for drinks or anything else patrons might need. We got our food fast but after that our server didn’t come to the table for a while. Overall a good experience, I’ll come back to check out their margaritas during happy hour.

This place has terrible service. I came to get a mojito. No fresh mint and they are out of rum. Over priced and no alcohol in my drink.

Delicious Mexican food!!! I love Plaza Azteca! It’s a nice place with great décor. They have good drink specials. They even have 32oz mugs of beer!!! There’s a new jalapeño margarita that is pretty good with fresh sliced jalapeños in the margarita. It has a nice kick to it. My favorite margarita is there margarona which is a giant frozen margarita with a corona upside down in it. I recommend the tuna tostadas! You get 3 of them with fresh onion, tomato, cheese and avocado with a nice sauce on top. I also recommend the burrito San Jose it’s HUGE!!! The wait staff is always so friendly and the food comes out quick and hot!!! The only down side to this location is the parking. There’s a parking garage around back that you have to pay for but if you go to the side of the garage there’s free parking. Oh yeah and get the table side guacamole it’s worth the 8 $

The worst«Mexican food» I’ve ever had. Borderline joke. I literally have nothing else to say.

So I got into Norfolk after a 6 hours drive from Charlotte and was STARVING. So I went to this place and grabbed a nachos supreme because I assumed melted cheese and toppings on chips = a safe bet. My GOD was I wrong. First of all I ordered it to go because I live literally across the street. By the time I walked home(again literally 2 – 4 minutes max) the chips were absolutely disgusting. They were all super soft. The white cheese was totally just liquid soup. Even cold later it didn’t harden at all. It was more like cheese sauce than cheese. And there was like an inch of lettuce on these chips with maybe 12 actual chips under them– again totally disgusting and soggy. Like, couldn’t even hold any beef because of how limp they were. I don’t care how hungry I am– I am never going back to this place.

Came here for Cinco de Mayo and the service horrible. We walked in and sat down at the bar ready to have a little celebration. First of all the counter was fithly! There were glasses and plates all over the place. In my head I thought«Surely someone will take this away soon», Seemed too much like right… they sat there for about 10 minutes until I couldn’t take it anymore. During this time, the waitresses of the year continued to make eye contact with us but did not once say«hello» «would you like a menu» «how can I help you». Finally I asked the waitress to move all of the glasses and plates. WTH! We finally got menus and ordered a drink. Then we left. Don’t go here if you value decent service.

I hate this place. And this place hates me. Against my better judgement, my coworkers urged me to give this place another try. Why is two chicken soft tacos a difficult meal to get right? My meal came to me as 2 soft beef tacos. When I got it back from the kitchen, they somehow magically changed to hard tacos… NEVER. COMING. BACK.

Roach came out from my food. I ordered a fajita quesadilla and a roach came out from the fajita. WTF!!! Do not go there. If you were sick after eating from this place you probably ate a roach. AVOIDTHISPLACEATALLCOST!!!

I really didn’t like this place! I’m not a big Mexican food eater, but I went because my boyfriend wanted to go and said Plaza Azteca had good food. Ahhhh, not! I’m some what of a picky eater, my boyfriend is not. However, while there I really couldn’t figure out how on earth he could possibly think that place served good food(side eye)! The first thing that threw me was that it just didn’t look clean! The floors were disgusting and the entire place just looked grungy. The server was nice enough, but he didn’t speak English well, so asking him a simple question while looking for a simple answer got me no where. I can’t remember what I ordered(something with chicken and rice), but I do remember I was totally disappointed. The rice was over cooked and mushy. Now there are many places I tend to suffer through for my guy, simply because he enjoys eating there, but I REFUSE to eat there again. While I didn’t get sick from what appeared to be lack of proper sanitation and quality of food… I do not enjoy playing Russian Roulette. No bueno… Kelli, will not be back!

My favorite mexican restaurant in the 757 the Plaza Azteca’s! The fajita burrito is amazing and I have a problem… I love the bean dip! It’s very basic but I love it. The last time I went I got a chicken and chorrizo entrée’ It was out of this world… a little greasy but I don’t mind. If you’re in the mood for a quality appetizer I say go for the cheese and Shrimp app. It comes out on the cast iron skillet sizzling and you can eat by itself or you can eat with chips. The shrimp are BIG but they are cut into pieces, so it works for me. I haven’t been disappointed by this mexican spot ever! By the time I leave there I am always soooo full! The food is cheap and lunch specials are good. I can’t wait to go back!
