My co-workers had never tried pita pit, I told them — it’s not like other pita options. These things are delicious! So we ordered one day for lunch and it was all over. They love it too! They seriously stuff these pitas full with delicious veggies, meat of your choice, cheese, sauce. They’re delicious and a must try. For those who don’t eat much bread– they will turn your pita into a salad which is still very good.(I’ve had both) I also like that they offer apple slices as a side, for those of us that care it really helps! This location is smack dab in the midst of it all in Norfolk. I suggest you try if you haven’t!

The food is excellent, haven’t been disappointed yet. The service is great and it has a very homey neighborhood vibe to it inside. I’m partial to the black bean pitas with all the veggie fixings.

The food and staff are great. I had the gyro and it was heaven. My girlfriend had ceaser chicken and she enjoyed it.

Tried this place a couple weeks ago and it was very good. I must have had that first time look cause the girls working behind the counter were extremely helpful. It kind of reminded me of Subway but way better and a lot of choices. It was nice to see they also had wheat pita. I will definitely return

My wife and I ordered the gyro and it was very good. If only there was one in Chesapeake.

Hmmm. So I am conflicted once again. I have had very tasty gyros in both NY and Greece, so I have no choice but to compare theirs to other gyros I have had. If you don’t feel this is fair you may want to read on. Their gyros are pretty tasty here, but not the tastiest I have had. The tzatziki sauce is so so, not the best I have had, but not the worst. They also have different sauces to add to your sandwich which is pretty good that they offer that variety. I sometimes like to add their«secret sauce» which I was told is close to a Greek vinaigrette. In all honesty, this is probably one of the best gyros you will get in this immediate area. I have also had the chicken souvlaki which is pretty good as well. Service is ok, nothing too out there and I haven’t encountered a rude employee either. Prices seem a little steep but you do get a fairly decent sized sandwich. The store itself is very clean which is always a good thing. I would recommend to a friend.

This place rocks! My first ever pita bread sandwich and I was amazed. I had a buffalo pita sandwich which was awesome and the staff helped me the entire way with picking what to put on it. She even came outside to make sure it was good! Great experience

We have Pita Pit back home in Iowa and I had loved it. I was so excited when I saw one was opening just fown the road from me. However, this location is lacking customer service and I agree with the couple other reviewers who stated the meat can be sub-par. I was very loyal to this location when they first opened. I went many times and even convinced my coworkers to order Pita Pit one day for lunch. However the slow pace and lack of friendliness from the employees caused my visit on my birthday(over six months ago) to be my last. Many times it would take me over 15 minutes to get a pita, even when there was no line. I always order extra cheese and learned quickly to keep my receipt in plain view(to show I had paid for the extra cheese) or I would have to argue with the pita maker to get something I had indeed paid for. My husband and I stopped at Pita Pit for a quick visit before attending a concert at the Norva. This was our first time eating in the store because we normally order to go. We asked for water cups and they watched us like hawks when we went to the soda fountain. I assumed there would be a water spout at the fountain but the employees practically screamed at us, «What are you doing?! You said you wanted water!!!» They is a pitcher next to the fountain that we were unkindly directed to. The pitcher looked very dirty and neither of us drank our water because it had little unidentifiable black objects. I will gladly pay more for something if the employees are friendly. Pita Pit is not expensive but I have stopped going because I just generally feel unwelcome inside their store. The employees always seem offended when someone comes inside, which is probably why chipotle always has a line, while Pita Pit does not.

It was my first time at a Pita Pit. Everyone was super helpful, they had great suggestions, told me about their delivery service within 2 miles, and online ordering. I’ll be back to try the gyro!

As far as I’m concerned, the best sandwiches in Norfolk — particularly for vegetarians. Most sandwich shops offer a veggie sandwich which is usually cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and if you’re lucky some pickles, peppers and/or olives. Pita pit has an extensive selection of veggies including multiple varieties of lettuce and peppers, but they also offer veggies not offered in most other places. They also have two kinds of hummus, falafel, and a black bean veggie burger. Whatever your made-to-order pita includes, it’s always going to be on a moist, delicious pita. If you’ve ever bought pita bread from the store, you know it can be dry. Their work around is clever — they briefly steam them. This leads to an overstuffed creation that is filling but also delicious. Restaurant is spotlessly clean and the staff is friendly.

I have walked past Pita Pit several times but had been a bit unsure if it was«family dinner» material. On Thursday, June 12th, I was browsing the new«Order Up» website and saw the Pita Pit menu AND that they delivered — BONUS! My family ordered the Buffalo Chicken, Chicken Caesar, Gyro and Chicken Souvlaki. They were all delicious and I love the fact you can customize your pita(super easy, especially if you use the online order form). The entire order arrived quickly, still warm and DELICIOUS! They have vegetarian options and even breakfast pitas! I highly recommend this new establishment. Great food, helpful staff and quick delivery! A great change from Chinese or Pizza!

This is a tasty fast casual pita franchise on Colley. Similar quality to other fast casuals in the area — Chipotle, Moe’s, JJ’s, etc. so given that, don’t expect life-changing pita here. It is solid, predictable, better-than-fast-food-but-still-quick food. Great for lunch. Meat and main fillings(e.g. Falafel) are on the light side portion-wise, but that is because they expect you to cram it full of spreads and veggies. And you definitely should, because there are a lot, and they are quite tasty.

When we first moved into Ghent, the storefront next to Chipotle was empty, and that seemed like a waste. When we started to see construction start here, we were looking forward to seeing what was going to go in here. We love walking on Colley, and having another option so close to home is always good. When I saw that it was a pita place, I was really excited. See, when I was working in Denver on a regular basis, I fell in love with this chain called Garbanzos. It was all about good, quick Greek food. Falafel, schwarma, cucumber salad, and pitas. Yum! Anyway, I was really sad when I wasn’t going to be working in that area anymore, because that meant no more Garbanzos. Within six months of that bout of sadness, the Pita Pit opened on Colley, and made me happy all over again. Now, it’s not a Garbanzos(but if someone were to bring the franchise out of Colorado, I would be head over heels!), but it does offer a great selection of pitas. I always get what they call the Jessica, which is a pita with half falafel and half souvlaki. It’s like all of my favorite things in one giant fistful of delicious! My husband always gets the buffalo chicken(it’s not just Greek style food), and he loves it. Besides being convenient and delicious, I also really appreciate the management of this place. I have never once seen it dirty or unkempt. The manager/owner is there every time I go in there, and it is obvious that he cares about the quality of the food and the experience he is giving his customers. He recognizes you when you come in, even if you’ve only been in once or twice before. When we were there a few nights ago, we watched him give one-on-one, on-the-job training to a new employee. He treats his team with a lot of respect, and they all seem to enjoy their jobs. I like seeing establishments who do good by their people, both the customers and the employees. I definitely recommend this place. It’s also a much shorter line than the other rolled tortilla place next door!

This review is based off of their salad, as their pitas looked a little skimpy for the price. There really aren’t many quick service places in Norfolk where you can get a filling made-to-order salad for less than $ 10, so this place is definitely note-worthy. The menu is slightly overwhelming, so thankfully the folks who worked there were patient with me while I read the menu over & over again like a dolt. The order format is similar to Subway, where you pick which veggies and toppings you’d like on your order. You can add as much or as little as you want, and they grill up your protein while they assemble your salad so it’s nice & hot. I ordered the Prime Rib, fork style(as a salad). With everything. Romaine, spinach, banana pepper, fresh jalapeño, pineapple, feta cheese. It was most excellent. tl-dr: The salad changed my life. That’s all you really need to know.

I have friends and colleagues that rave about the sandwiches at the Pita Pit. I finally tried this place after weeks of office deliveries and others talking openly about their food. My vegetarians friends and colleagues talk about the Falafel and their Spicy Black Bean most. I’m a meat eater and was more interested in the ‘Meat Pitas’ though. On my first visit, I went for the Gyro Pita. Frankly, I was hoping for something more than the sliced Kronos Foods product that has become synonymous with this Greek sandwich; it looking like the same product on the grill, however. The sandwich is done with feta cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and tzatziki sauce. You can ‘have it your way’ at Pita Pit and customize your pita anyway you like. I choose to stick to the script, though. The sandwich itself was just OK. I felt the meat lacked flavor mostly because it was small in amount and over-powdered by the other products, especially the onions — powerful! The sandwich tech decided to sneak a few black olives in the mix. I didn’t know whether to thank him or return the sandwich. What if I didn’t like black olives or was even allergic to them? Questions. The same person said, «I’ll bring it out to you.’ However, after just a few short minutes he called me to hand-deliver it over the counter. Did he misspeak or did I misunderstand. Confused now. I found my first experience to be just OK — lacking in meat for the price and in onion-overdrive. Imagine an amalgamation of Subway with its customization with Jimmy Johns speed, efficiency, and delivery; that’s Pita Pit in a nutshell. I should admit, however, that I find Subway and Jimmy John’s also 2.5 star sandwich shops.

The pita was okay. I will probably come here again to try a different one that I got this time. It was lamb and beef I think. It was ok. The prime rib pita was good with horseradish sauce of course. Prices were a little high. But with a student discount. Not terrible.

Just recently opened! It was definitely a great experience, and do think their location is perfect! The staff at Pita Pit are more than friendly, which is absolutely nice. They are willing to help you out by suggesting things and letting you know how it all works. This is absolutely great for a business that just opened up. I do like how you choose meat or veggie when you order, and then you put anything you want sort of like Subway. I was happy with the fact that you can select hummus spread as well. I enjoyed my wrap, I chose gyro meat which was pretty good. The special lady with me ordered the cheddar cheese. I liked the way I loaded mine, it was pretty delicious. Anywho, everything about it was excellent but I do think they need to perfect their system. I was not bothered by the wait at all, but it wasn’t a busy time in there and it took awhile. I do foresee this place being popular, and, therefore, having a lot customers especially for lunch time. If this becomes the case, then their system may need to improve for the rush times. It just opened up and I would like to see this business succeed!
