Novatos Bar and Grill

This place was amazing. Read the review on Unilocal and decided to give them a try!!! So glad we did!!! We were greated by two smiling and very accomodating hostesses!!! They did a great job asking patrons what type of tale they wanted and seated us all accordingly. We were seated and quickly greeted by waitstaff and took our drink order and drinks were WonderFul and served promtly. Our waiter, Kyle, was awesome. He arrived quickly and took our order. Our food was served and was extacly as we ordered and was delicous. We got the seafood trio and the Thanksgiving Turnover. Everything was hot and delicious!!! We were on a girls weekend and this place awesome. We are know planning our next trip and will definately include Novatos Bar and Grill in our plans!!! Great job guys and keep up the great work!!! BRAVO!!!

I love this place. The owner Jennifer is as nice as it gets. The steak tips are the best around. My daughter who is very picky loves it too. I go there for lunch with my friend often and it is always friendly and nice, great food. It is my take out place of choice after a long day.

We go here very often. I recommend this restaurant to everyone. The service is good and everybody friendly. But the food is delicious I usually order the build your own burger with egg, cheese, Mac and cheese and bacon. It is delicious. Everything is always hot when it comes out. If you get the chance you should go.

Awful experience. Arrived for lunch and the hostess/​waitress was very nice, but that was it. We were one of three tables and everything was slow… food mediocre and they forgot my son’s meal. No apologies or rush to get it out. After we all shared our meals with him, his still was not out so we asked her to take it off the bill. Ten minutes later she arrived with the bill. Again, no one addressed us or apologized for the poor service. One star is generous.

Novato’s is one of our favorite locations. The staff is always incredibly friendly and the service is outstanding. The owners, Jen and Alex are very committed to the clientele, the food they prepare and insuring everyone always has the best time. The food at Novatos is always very good from appetizers and salads to steak tips and seafood. We enjoy seeing our friends and also meeting new visitors at Novatos. Today, it’s challenging to find a place that combines, great service, great food and makes you feel so comfortable. We recommend Novatos to everyone we know and if you have not been, we hope you will give it a try! You won’t be disappointed!

Meh. you really want this place to be good, but it just is not. I have eaten here now about 6 times since they first opened however many years ago, and I real haven’t ever left here full and happy. They have a huge variety of options on the menu. I can’t help you out with anything I’d consider my «favorite».
($ 70 tab for three nearly un-​eaten sandwiches, too. And the OK appetizer we ate out of starvation)

I recommend Novatos restaurant to everyone! The atmosphere is wonderful! The meals I have had there has been nothing short of fantastic. They are delicious, the presentation is incredible also.
For a night out just the two of you, or even a family night out for fun. Which ever you desire the choice is yours. Enjoy

Everything else is good, but they tend to over cook.

Will be back for sure. Only complaint was the lighting was really bright. Take that down just a notch to create a little atmosphere.

Been here a multiple times and every visit is always a pleasure! Jen and Alex know how to take care of their guests A++++ they are the owners of novatos bar and grill. They are an awesome duo that have been in the restaurant biz years for years so they know what they are doing when it comes to great food and service. My favorite is the pizza and the wings are outstanding! Also do check out seafood it’s probably the only place around here that has an awesome seafood section on the menu. I’d definitely give this place a try if your on the fence because I’m willing to bet you will have a great experience from beginning to end and leave with a very full and satisfied stomach :)

The food and service were excellent. I got the bourbon steak tips, my friend got the baked haddock. Our server was very helpful and friendly. The only complaint I have is that it was much too bright. They have beautiful lights over the tables, but then they have the recessed lighting turned up to the max which made it very warm inside. I felt like I was eating my dinner in a well lit conference room! A dimmer on the lighting switch would work wonders. Other than that, it’s a great place. Hopefully when I return for my fourth time, the lighting will be toned down a bit.

First time Unilocaler and waitress by trade. I have no excuse for not posting sooner. I have been going to Norvatos Bar n Grill since they opened and Guido’s before that. From the first visit after Jenn and Alex took ownership I have been impressed. Not only did Jenn provide me with a glass of my favorite wine on that first visit, but the menu was more than impressive and prices very reasonable! The Seafood Trio was always a favorite of mine!
Over the last year and a half, through all my crazy diet phases, they have always prepared a delicious dish to satisfy me! Yes I am one of those, «dressing on the side, no butter, no garlic etc» waitress nightmares! And as I said, a waitress myself!
Last week after work I stopped in late to find the kitchen was closed. I mentioned to the bartender I was meeting my girlfriend (fellow waitress) and that she was starving! Jenn, after a long night herself, overheard and insisted on opening up the kitchen. She would not take no for an answer. WHO DOES THAT? By the time my girlfriend arrived (11:30 pm) there was a hot chicken dish waiting for her,
I have always enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and the variety on the menu of delicious choices…(BTW… Did I mention the free homemade potato chips? Delish!!) Today I just wanted to give a «Shout Out» to Jenn and Alex and Norvatos a Great place to visit. I suggest to everyone looking for a fun night and delicious meal to give Novatos a try! Thank you

I think Novato’s is excellent, and big improvement from the Guido days. We’ve dined here many times and the food is always
fresh and delicious. I like the casual, comfortable atmosphere and think the prices are very reasonable. Service is consistently good and friendly.
My favorite dish is the short ribs!

We really wanted to like this place. We have been about 10 times, and sadly it gets worse each time. Not a good trend. My last meal, fish and chips, was sent back. The owner did not care enough to talk to us.
Novatos is now off of our list.

Nice open atmosphere, big variety menu. The seafood stew was delicious as was the prime rib special. A definite new local spot for us!

They have recently expanded their seafood options.
I went Sunday and they had lobsters on special for TEN DOLLARS! Lobster was fresh and came with fries and cole slaw. I’ll be back for $ 1 oysters!

We went to Novato’s last summer when they first opened. Their focus was on food quality and service. It was a great place to go to. The focus now is on counting Keno money and goofing around with the regulars.
We sat at the bar and waited a few minutes to place our drink order which came in a timely fashion and was accompanied by menus. That was the best service of the night. We waited about 15 minutes and then had to ask the owner who was standing nearby counting Keno money to take our order. The three bartenders that were there were mostly talking to regulars or their friends. We noticed some people getting baskets of homemade chips so we had to ask for some. My wife ordered the chicken parm with fries which my wife said was very good. Tough dish to mess up. I ordered the Seafod pasta that was menued as in a white wine sauce with herbs and spices. Except for the chopped parsley as a garnish, I could not taste any wine, herbs or spices. The mussels were miniscule, The meat inside was negligible. The shrimp not completely peeled and butterflied. Scallops overcooked and hard. Pasta was al dente, however. as we were eating our meals, what appeared to be a group of regulars must have hit it big on a Keno bet as the loud cheer that rang out through out the bar. I have never seen so many bartenders walking around the bar counting money, exchanging money in front of customers which is a basic no-​no in the food service industry. No one came over to ask us how our meal was. As we were paying our bill and as we were walking out, we noticed customers received hot rolls with butter with their meal. Wish we had gotten some as well. Our last visit to Novatos.

Worst dinner experience in years. Slow and indifferent service. Bread only on request. Poorly prepared and presented food.

The lowlight was my wife’s order or Chicken Novato. Tomatoes raw, not grilled. Bland mozzarella on unseasoned chicken. And 10 – 12 stripes of balsamic vinegar. Looked ridiculous
Really disappointed. Always up for a new place but not this one

Tonight my boyfriend and I stopped at Novato’s to meet with some friends. We are no stranger to this restaurant as we have friends who work here and we used to come here back when it was Guido. Since its changed ownership it has become a much better place to eat. The food is mucb more creative and inventive than before and always tastes delicious.
We started off dinner by ordering Garlic Parmesan Chicken Tenders. They were very tasty however I would have preferred a lot more of the seasoning as it does not stick well to the Tenders. For my main meal I got the Shrimp Scampi, a favorite dish of mine which is shrimp and basil tossed in a garlic white wine sauce over angel hair. My boyfriend got one of his favorites as well the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich which had a deliciously sweet BBQ sauce, cheese and onion strings.
Overall this place is a great local spot to come. The prices are low for good quality food and the atmosphere so always a pleasant experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody visiting the area and looking for a small place with great food.

I ordered the strip steak off the special menu. What I got on my plate was a long steak tip. It was not a strip steak. I ate it and it wouldn’t have been bad for a steak tip. But I ordered a steak. I think a place at this level needs to also include a salad with an entrée.
I just updated my review because the owner contacted me and offered me a gift card. Just to be clear, the food was fine, just not what I thought I had ordered. I’ll come back but I’m not looking for any freebies. Good luck Novatos
