ONWALDENPOND As you pass this park, you can easily see the play area from the street. It is very nice and buffered by a large patch of grass so that the kids are a great distance away from the parking lot. As you walk the path past the play area, the path abruptly ends and you are suddenly in the woods. This is an isolated area of natural paths, but a bit creepy for my tastes. If you want to be alone with your thoughts are your canine, this is the perfect place. If you veer off to the left from the play area, there is an elevated platform that provides a great view of the water. It is beautiful, peaceful and romantic. We noticed a man emerging from the woods with his fishing gear so it must be a nice spot for fishing. There are a lot of trees and picnic tables in this park that make it the perfect spot for hosting a picnic on a hot and sunny day. Our favorite aspect of the park is the posting of the noise ordinance which begins with Annoying noises prohibited. It shall be unlawful for any person to whistle, hiss or holler at another person in any boisterous, unbecoming or erring manner or make any loud, unnecessary or unusual noise or display. It continues on from there and is quite interesting. We have not seen this ordinance posted in other parks and realized that this is a Gwinnett County Park as opposed to a Fulton County Park. Thoreau would be pleased.

I remember going to this park I all the time with my two small dogs. I took them to this park all the time. This park is truly fabulous. This park contains wonderful play equipment(swings, obstacle courses, etc…) for the children. On the other side is a very nice large gazebo area that has lots of table benches complete with three built in charcoal grills for groups, families, and individuals to have picnics or BBQs on/at. Also, there is a nice little wooden seating area just a little bit aways from the BBQ/picnic area. You can also walk a little further down from that area and go onto a little wooden secured platform the hangs just right over the Chattahoochee Lake to see the lake and all it’s beauty. There is also a wonderful nature trail that you can walk on with or without a pooch companion to see the beautiful wooded area and all of the beautiful trees there. I absolutely love this park. I cannot comment on the bathroom that they have on and right next to their parking lot as I have never been inside of it. The parking lot is not large, but is pretty decent. I do recommend this park as it is worth going to, visiting, and seeing.
