Food is good, service is not great. Don’t order anything with steak, unless you enjoy chewing for extended periods of time. The chicken flautas are perfectly crisp.

So, i appears that we may FINALLY have a decent Mexican restaurant nearby, where we can go for a quick and tasty dinner. We decided to try Las Cazuelas on the advice of new neighbors down the street. We were not disappointed. The food was very good and the service was decent. As in every restaurant, however, waiting to check out needs a proactive approach. Since moving here from«The O.C.» about 7 months ago, we have tried several Mexican restaurants in the local area. The results have, until yesterday, been discouraging. There are actually 3 Mexican restaurants in the ‘dining wasteland’ of Nipomo, but we have ranged as far as Arroyo Grande(the mesa), in our quest for a decent Mexican dinner. We really didn’t want to go into Guadalupe(good Mexican food guaranteed) or Santa Maria(good food, but dangerous). Although the jury is still out, as we generally try a restaurant 3 times, on different days, at different times, but so far, Las Cazuelas has all other Mexican restaurants in this general area beat. I will render final judgement in about 2 weeks.

Can’t go anywhere and get better service than from Carolina and Rosa. And on top of that… the food is consistently good!

We were greeted by our server who took our drink order and then disappeared for 15 minutes. There were 3 other small parties at the restaurant at the time, and 2 other servers, so it’s not as if they were super busy. We patiently waited until finally, just as I was about to get up and go to to the front counter so see what the hold-up was, a short lady rushes over to our table and instead of offering an apology, she just exclaims«What, he didn’t take your order? I thought he took it, you know he’s suppose to take your order!» Almost like she was scolding us as if it was our fault that the first server disappeared. We just sat there dumbfounded like«Um, yea. We thought he was supposed to take our order as well.» We finally got our meals, which were… eh…okay, but nothing special. We asked for the bill, left a tip on the table, and paid in cash. But the server didn’t even ask if we needed change back. He just took the money and kept the extra $ 5 assuming it was his tip, after we had already tipped him(even in spite of the sh! tty service). Even when you expect a tip, it’s polite and customary to ask the customer if they would like change back, geesh! Needles to say, I will not be returning.

I don’t understand how they have a low star rating? The food is amazing, the drinks are delish & fairly priced, the chips are hot the salsa savory. What do people expect? The staff is so nice & attentive! I recommend the menudo, chile rellenos & fish selections!

I think this is the best mexican food place in the area. The only thing missing are the homemade tortillas. We love their crispy tacos, tinga tacos, chile rellenos, and awesome chips and spicy salsa. The service is always friendly and fast.

Always great food, and service. The locals favorite for a reason! Food is always fresh and hot! Great salsa and chips! The family always leaves very happy! Great atmosphere indoor and a pleasant patio with a fountain as well. If you are passing through Nipomo it’s worth making your way to this side of town. We have been coming here for years and never left unhappy.

The chile rellenos are worth the trip alone ! the enchiladas where OK, would of been alot better if the meat was satay in the Sauce instead of dry! so ask 4 Xtra Sauce. The shredded beef Taco was so good i wish I order 12!!! Menudo Was very good, BUT it was cut with some LARGE pieces of Tripe(not all but anuff, one of the cooks was lazy) and this was why I didn’t give 5 star’s

The food is good here and typically enjoy eating here. However, on my last visit I couldn’t get any one to even look long enough to get their attention for a drink refill. Our waiter was too busy taking photos on several phones from one party of their group. We waited a good 10 minutes after finishing our food to get our bill and again couldnt even flag anyone down. I don’t know if they were understaffed or what but the service was terrible.

The first time I ate here I was in a large group and I thought that was why it took so long to get service and the food. The second, and last visit, was a Sunday at lunch hour and there was only two other tables of diners. Our waiter was very nice but would completely disappear for long stretches of time. We finally placed our order and proceeded to wait a very long time for our food. The grilled fish and veggies I got were very good, however my mom ordered the Chili Colorado burrito and my niece ordered Carne Asada burrito and both had poor quality hamburger meat in them. After we got our food the waiter disappeared again so we were left to our own devices again. Unfortunately, I don’t think any of us will be going back there any time soon.

The food lacked flavor, the waiter wasn’t very good at refilling our drinks, yet alone remembering that we exsisited.

The good was okay but service was a little slow. The building looks like a house, not easy to find. The salsa could you improving, it was more like taco sauce

The food, fast and yummy. The jalapeño margarita, I will come back for again and again. We got the chile rellenos, fish tacos and carnitas tacos. Everything good, the housemade jalapeño tequila infusion will bring me back again.

I have been here twice with my boyfriend and we both had a decent experience. This place has pretty good food, it’ nothing that amazing though. The salsa is the worst part though. It basically tastes like spicy tomato sauce. The tacos are pretty bland too. I give them 3 stars because they aren’t bad, I have just had better and for cheaper. This place is great for beans and rice. Next time(if there is a next time) I would most likely order beans, rice, and guac. The service is very quick, so if you’re into that then I’d recommend it.

My family had dinner here when visiting my in-laws. The place was packed however we were seated right away, so that was good! Service was prompt and drinks were served quickly. Sodas were served in massive cups. Margaritas looked good, but I didn’t have one so not sure how they are. I got the one beef taco combination dinner. The shredded beef was a little too well done for my liking(burnt on the edges of the taco) but the hard taco shell was fine– not too greasy. Refried beans were decent and not too salty. Rice was pretty standard. I will say that for $ 8.99, the price seems a little high for what you get. All the one item dinners were the same price, though. Overall, not the best Mexican food I’ve ever had, but certainly seems to be a popular spot based on how busy it was when we were there! Also, the décor of the place is nice– not a hole in the wall, by any means.

Food and service is average, but we do enjoy coming here for dinner once in a blue moon. Love the pastor and chorizo tostaditas, beans, and rice. The jalapeño margarita, chips and salsa, and enchiladas are average. I wish I could say I have tried more of the menu but that time will come! So for now, they get three stars from me.

Came here a few weeks back; man oh man WHERE do I start. First off May I say I LOVE Mexican food so chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant need to be good. This salsa is like tomatoe paste-ew. It was probably the busiest night ever for them, idk. But they needed more then just two waitresses. We had a ‘bussier’ take our drink order; he needed to come back to ask what we got three times and it still took 20 minutes to get drinks. He even brought our chips and salsa before our drinks. Haha sweet gesture but it was a hott day so we preferred drinks first. It took the waitress an hour to get to our table. We wanted to walk out several different times but we were a table of six. Once the waitress came it didn’t take long for the food to come.(Thank god) BUT soooo gross. I got chicken sopas. NononoNO. The tortilla was bagged you can just get from the Mexican market, chicken had NO flavor and the tortilla literally fell apart. Just horrible. Everyone of the five other people didn’t enjoy their meal what so ever. Please don’t waste your time going here, go down the street to the other Mexican restaurant. The waitresses are wonderful everytime, so nice. And their food is soooooooooooo good.

I ate at Las Cazuelas today specifically because of the mixed reviews. I had to know! Well, now I do. It’s not the best Mexican food in the world but it’s definitely the best Mexican food in Nipomo. I enjoyed the chips and salsa. Nothing to write home about but the chips were warm and fresh and the salsa was good. I do wish the salsa was a little less pureed. The carne asada fajitas were great. The steak strips were fresh and sizzling. They weren’t overly seasoned, which I thought was good, although some people may enjoy more marinading of their carne asada. They came with a side plate of guac, crema fresca, beans, and rice. And they came with 2 tortillas, which was enough for me. A little pico de gallo would have been nice but wasn’t an option. Considering the very few Mexican options available in Nipomo(the other 2 aren’t any good), I’ll definitely be coming back here in the future.
