Excellent steak burrito! I read about this place on Unilocal and decided to try it for lunch today. The staff was very friendly. The burrito was delicious, and I really liked the hot sauce. I will definitely be back to try the tacos.

The exterior of the place might lead you to believe that it’s a terrible, gross dive. But it is excellent. Reasonably priced. I had the steak and pork tacos and they were delicious. I’m looking forward to coming back again to try more of their yummy food.

Don’t judge a book by its cover, that’s all I have to say about this little shack. We ordered a «tasting menu» for ourselves and were so delighted we went back to order more. Our main target was the posole which was the best we’ve had — and this was on a Monday when most LARGER places make theirs only over the weekend. Just call ahead to see if they have it. The steak tacos were great and even the chicken tacos were lightly spiced and delicious. Don’t hesitate … just try them!

Hole in the wall with amazing taco. Way better than Taco Burrito King.

For a hole in the wall restaurant, they charge waaaay too much in my opinion. We had 3 tacos, an enchilada, and a quesadilla for $ 30. The only thing we enjoyed were the tacos. Everything came with rice and beans. There are only 4 or 5 tables in the whole place. I love hole in the wall Mexican restaurants, but in Chicago, there are plenty of better options.

You’ll probably pass Taqueria Los Cuates from the outside appearance and you would probably have second thoughts when you walk in. If you are willing to venture outside of your comfort zone, you’re in for a real treat. The prices are what you expect for this type of restaurant. From the appearance, you know exactly what you are getting and Taqueria Los Cuates doesn’t disappoint. It’s the greasy but flavorful Mexican food that you crave. I ordered the al pastor and chicharron taco and they were both stuffed with meat. There are other items on the menu that you don’t see often such as chicharron, lengua, and liver and rice. I’ll definitely be back to try more items on the menu.

This place iz a hole on the wall! But what good Mexican restaurant isn’t? Pretty authentic. Pretty fresh. Pretty tasty. Pretty inexpensive. I order tacoz:(1) Pollo(chicken),(1) Asada(steak),(1) Al Pastor(pork), and(1) Tamale. The tacoz are kinda small for $ 1.95, but the taste was pretty damn good. Though I wasn’t a big fan of the Al Pastor(pork)! The tamale was a lil’ chinsy on the meat, but still… good flavor. Can’t wait to come back and try some other thingz. Oh, and they serve breakfast, and take credit card. So, not bad. Still, I’ve had better! But I will be back.

This is everything you expect from a greasy taco stand. Every time I have been in there I have been one of the few that speak English as a first language and I prefer it that way. I needed a quick snack and of course the perfect choice was two taco’s one fish and one steak. Both great! The fish was nice and tender full of flavor and I was scared it would be a little dry and it was not at all. The steak was also very juicy and delicious. This is my spot for good local and fast standard Mexican fare. Oh and they also sell breakfast and your standard grill fare(hamburgers etc…).

I’ve eaten from this place a couple times when my dad would pick up lunch for the two of us and we’d sit in his store and talk. Last night, I went inside for the first time with my boyfriend and we ordered the 6 tacos for $ 11 deal along with two bottles of Jarritos soda. A very simple order, but, just as I predicted, the best tacos I’ve ever had in the area! The people who work here are also very, very nice. You wouldn’t really expect much when you pass this little place off Milwaukee, but it’s really worth a stop.

Once upon a time, Garcia’s in Lincoln Square was my go-to place for fresh, tasty, Mexican food. In spite of the often poor service, I would go there often. And then I got introduced to Taqueria Los Cuates. There’s nothing fancy about this place; it’s very no-frills. The menu is pretty standard. But there is just something about the food. For one thing, it’s strong on flavor… not at all bland. Very hearty. It’s just… really good! The horchata is the best I’ve ever tasted. Portion sizes are large and prices are low — you get good value for your money. Additionally, the owner is usually there, as is his family. He’s a very friendly guy. I do agree that the salsa needs some fine-tuning. It’s not bad, but is not impressive by any means.

Prob the most legit place for standard Mexican food in the area. Very reasonably price. The Burrito is legit, so are the gorditas, tortas, chile rellenos. I though the salsa was fine. Also another great sign is that you actually see people of mexican descent eating there. Give it a try

Little place in Niles where they have tasty steak burritos, the steak taco’s and chicken taco’s aren’t bad either, they also make very good beef enchilada’s w/mole sauce.
