I absolutely love this place! I appreciate the precise textured and trendy cut I get from Yangmi Kim. I never walk out dissatisfied. The salon is welcoming, clean and vibrant. I drive 1 plus hours for my appt and it’s well worth it.

Great eye brow waxing or threading service. She takes her time and makes sure it’s accurate. They mostly do women’s hair so I get a hair cut and shave elsewhere.

After 7+ years living in Chicago, I finally dare myself to do perm straightening in U.S. I have very fine, thin and wavy hair that for years I only go for perm Straightening when I go back to Taiwan(best Asian hair stylest and super good price… except its on the other side of the earth). Booked with Lydia and brought a couple pic of Japanese &Taiwanese hairstyle I want to show to her. I only did the perm straightening in the front and side, and that’s two hours plus two shampooing and the most careful straightening I ever experience! Because I have very fine hair, if the perm is done wrong I will look like those triangle sushi with seaweed like hair glued to my head. And oh my! Lydia not only cut beautifully, she even gave me the good hair volume with perm straightening I desperately needed. The only downside is overall I look nothing like the pic I showed her, more like a Korean pop star(and I consider that a good surprise lol). If it lasts the way I expected, she will be my forever go to hair stylest from now on! Highly recommend to all the Asian girls in Chicago!

Lydia is pretty awesome. I have been getting magic straight perms for the past five years by stylists from all over including New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, and I have to say that Lydia has done it the best. I’ve had it twice with her, and they have lasted a super long time. Also, she gives a meticulous haircut. The salon itself is in a non-descript strip mall next to a busy intersection in Niles, but it’s worth the trek given how reliable her results are. Four stars instead of five because of how long it takes(about a half hour longer than other places I’ve been) and has been mentioned she doesn’t offer a ton of creativity herself so it’s best to come in with some idea of what you want(ie, length, layers, bangs, etc).

Yep, like Cindy said, Lydia is pretty awesome. With price of 25 bucks, the result you get is pretty nice. Lydia listens to you and does what you want. The reason why I didn’t give 5 stars is that I think she needs to have her own creative edge. She never does under or over what she is told to do. Whenever she asks me what would you like to do? And I say«what do you think?», it always goes back to «whatever you want». I think she lacks her won confident to take a risk and does the hair that she thinks it will look good on me. edit* it’s 30 bucks now. I called 4÷5÷11. I guess it’s okay.

This review is based on my experiences with the hairstylist Lydia. I’ve gone to her three times now, and each time I was very pleased. The lowdown: Woman’s haircut $ 25. Lydia is Korean, but she speaks English. Most(if not all) her clients are Asian. Now my hair is not typically Asian. It’s fine, thin, and can be described as wispy. She also styles my friend’s hair, which is as thick as horse hair and totally the opposite of mine. She cuts both our hair fabulously. I love how my hair looks after she blows it out. She’s professional, very sweet, and knows how to work with hair. Is she the best stylist around? I’m sure there are better, but they are charging 3−4x as much. Before Lydia, the last time I really liked my cut was this guy at Mario Tricoci and I spent $ 120 for the cut and tip. And he was good, but I can think of several other things I want to drop that kind of cash on. I’ve been jumping from one stylist to another for several years because I’m never satisfied with them, but I’m sticking to Lydia now. Don’t love driving all the way out to Niles from the city, but it’s worth the trip because Assi Market is down the street so I can get some grocery shopping done after my cut. The salon itself should do a better job of cleaning. There was a huge spider web near me. I kept staring at it, I freaking hate spiders.
