Angelo gave me my first haircut(1964 or so), and even though I have lived out of state for 30 years, each time I return to Newton to visit my family, I also stop by to see Angelo(and Frank), even if it is not haircut time. Two of the nicest guys you will ever meet — old school, but they keep up with the times.

I have had both Frank and Angelo cut my hair for the past 10 or so years. I have never heard either of them use profanity in front of me and that I’m a navy veteran who isn’t offended by profanity used in moderation and to make a point. I had to go to New Hampshire for the 30th anniversary of two close friends and didn’t have time to visit Angelo’s before I had to leave to go there. The cut I got up there just isn’t nearly as good. Sure, it’s a bit expensive, but just ask Frank for the«Summer Cut» and you get another week or two from it. Bob Burke Newton Highlands

Frank is terrific, a guy who takes his profession seriously, and gives a great haircut. Yes, the price is a little higher than the discount«Great Cuts» or whatever, but it’s worth it – he’s a skilled barber. I can’t agree with the negative reviews here — Frank takes great care, wants the customer to be happy, and I’ve never(after 6 years) had a bad cut with him.

Great place and Frank is the only barber that my 14 year old will allow to cut his hair. Also wonderful to support our local, family owned businesses. Very difficult to take any of the former reviews, except the 5 star, seriously. I have been here multiple times and the shop is immaculate and I have never heard a foul word spoken. I certainly would not bring my 14 year old there if that was not the case. On the subject of the cost, seems that people never learn that quality is worth a bit more money.

Terrible. The guy was swinging a buzzer at my head like he was golfing. The cut is uneven and choppy. He was rude and opinionated. When he started talking about the Sox I told him I didn’t see the game and don’t keep up on baseball. A loud noise came from the buzzer as he dug into my head with it at that moment. Perhaps a slip… The place is old and stinks and then he had the nerve to charge me 28 dollars!!! I went straight to super cuts and got it fixed for another 14 dollars. I wouldn’t let these guys cut my lawn.

This is an old school barber shop. Angelo and Frank have been at this location forever. Both of my grandfathers, all my uncles on both sides and my brothers get their hair cut here. This is where real men get their hair cut. When my uncles comes in from PA to visit he always goes in for a haircut. It’s not a salon it’s a real barbershop. No facials, manicures or eyebrow waxing. A haircut may cost you $ 10 more than supercuts but its well worth it. They use actual scissors instead of just buzzing your hair with a pair of electric clippers and it shows. Frank does a great job with my god awful receding hairline too lol. The place is always spotless. And as far as the other review about«harsh language» I have to say I think that guy maybe belongs at a day spa and not a barber. Yes they may say a swear every now and then if no kids are in the shop but its not as if your at a construction site. There are kids in there all the time and when my son is old enough I look forward to bringing him in. It says a lot a place like this can stay in business in Newton for so many years…

As soon as I walked in I knew my haircut was not going to be great. The barber was cursing like a sailor, which I really don’t care for I mean I’m 24 not 60, but when a curse word is used every three words; It may be time to read a book. The haircut was alright I mean it wasn’t the worst haircut I have ever got but by far it was one of the most expensive haircuts. $ 25 for a hair cut, is kind of crazy. Actually not kind of crazy, it is crazy. I wouldn’t go back unless my hair was green and needed it chopped off but even then I would I still may save my money instead
