The outside seating makes this a complete restaurant. Unfortunately we ate inside. It is badly in need of renovation. Between the odor and the sporadic areas of cleanliness it degrades the experience. Thanks to the reviews I ordered the fish tacos which were very good but anything ordered with chicken was significantly below par. The wAit staff did a nice job but it took a solid 30i min to get it.

Enjoyed the sidewalk café on one of the most amazingly beautiful weather days ever! I had the Thai Mussels and it was wonderful — right spice element, ample quantity, lots of very fresh bread. Great beer choice, too. My friend had the fish tacos and loved ‘em. Great service, too.

Located near the Court House Downtown(make sure you don’t park in designated court house spots) is an Irish Pub which offers seating outside. The tables were uncomfortable as they don’t allow much room for your legs, pretty sure the chairs were just plastic, and the tables were rather large for a two top so I felt like I was just hunched over. If I was reviewing the comfort of seating I’d give it 1 star. Luckily I felt the food was actually pretty good. I had the salmon and cabbage taco which were served on two tortillas and two nice small pieces of fish filet. I thought the prices were really fair and I’d certainly return. Something weird about the inside, looks like half the restaurant is s vacated or used as storage and the other half is used for dining. Not sure what that’s all about but didn’t impact us as we were outside.

Great service and food. I’m in Newport every weekend and try to hit as many different places as I can. I don’t typically hit Yesterday’s as it’s not the newest place in town but I’ve heard it was reliable. So I tried it for take-out lunch and ordered the Grilled Tuna Nicoise. They had accidentally forgotten about my order but the manager found me and personally apologized, and said the order was on the house. That kind of graciousness, respect, and accountability was all I needed to motivate me to rate Yesterday’s highly. The salad was quite good, too — the ingredients were fresh and it was well packaged for a take out order. Good job.(By the way, the place is way bigger than I anticipated — I was surprised!)

We’ve come here many years and in the past they were great. It brings me sadness to write this post. Their service has gone to under par but the true reason I must give them a rating of such is the fact that on a salad, canned food was used throughout. Normally a salad is considered a fresh meal. A chicken sandwich was ordered and there was(estimating) 2oz of chicken meat. Overall the evening was disappointing. Hopefully they change something soon because the high season is almost over.

Don’t go here for the food. Years ago it was very good, now its no good at all. Calamari with pepperocini, except there was no pepperocini. The clam chowder was 75% potatoes in a watery mystery broth. This is NOT the place for you to enjoy a good meal any more.

Four stars for a pub. I had fried wantons, wings and the pomegranate chicken sandwich. Wantons were good and came with both a sweet and sour dip and a soy teriyaki dip. The wings were good too. Nothing crazy about them but good wings. My wife had them too and she likes wings more than I do so if she gives them the thumbs up, which she did, they are good wings. The pomegranate chicken sandwich on the other hand was awesome. Usually I believe that the bread makes the sandwich but in this case it was the contents as well. Ciabatta bread was soft and fresh. There was pomegranate, pear, cranberry and goat cheese between that bread and every bite was delicious. Also, the beer selection was incredible. 30 beers on tap and many were craft beers. I went with bourban county and stuck with it for second round. We sat outside for about an hour and a half, the weather was great, the staff was great and the food was great. My only complaint is that we ordered drinks first and the waitress felt obligated to tell us that outside is for dining only. She was polite about it but it still bothered me a little.

Where I come from there is a saying that goes«even if my own father was caught in the net, I would eat him». The net is one of a fisherman’s and this particular individual who came up with the saying must have loved seafood. I do not blame him the least bit(by the way, if you are wondering I did not invent this saying but wholeheartedly agree with it). For some reason when a happy little organism resides anywhere near the ocean, there is some form of magic that makes them pop with flavor. Without a doubt, shellfish are one of the most flavorful things from our oceans, at times to the point of being pungent to some people, well I am in the category of people that enjoy every bit of these gems that come in nature’s own packaging. Whether they are oysters collected from underneath rocks, little razor clams you dig out from the shore or the vacuum cleaning New England clams that live in our muddy bays. Perhaps it is the bivalve molluskiness of the clams that makes them so delicious. Every little yummy plankton that lives in the briny ocean water is potentially food for the clams. As clams filter out the water, sand and mud they extract the edible parts and expel everything else. They have a very diverse diet, that can make them grow up to sizes 4 – 5 inches in diameter. The reason I am telling you all this is because I love me some stuffed clams! And lo and behold, I found the best stuffed clams right here in this little local’s favorite restaurant in Newport. They go by the name«stuffies» on the menu. In one order, there is only one, fat stuffed clam. What makes it stand out from the rest of the clams along the New England coast is the chunkiness and the rawness of all the ingredients that went in there. Rather then being reduced to a nondescript pulp the stuffing is firm and serves respect to each ingredient that went in there, you can taste each raw onion and celery, the chorico is honest and wholesome. The clam meat is sliced and diced into littleo pieces, just perfect to catch the attention of your teeth but not large enough that it tires you out from chewing. I have tried this local super food in countless places before, from fairgrounds to seafood specialty eateries to high end restaurants and I have to admit that I always felt it never attained its potential. The magician in the kitchen at Yesterday’s has found the perfect formula to make the best stuffies I have tasted. Get it with a good helping of lemon on the side and enjoy!

Whoa what happened to the food at Yesterday’s? Had the chicken tortilla salad it was swimming in oil and what seemed to be Italian sauce? And turkey no chicken. Very strange and soggie. Waitress was very nice.

Food was delicious for a moderately priced restaurant. Server was attentive. Atmosphere was dark and dated with a mix of music from Bob Marley to big band era classics. Not bad for the price.

We were here not too long ago to have a couple drinks and for the chocolate lava cake. The cake was very good. The bartender was nice and we liked the seasonal beers we tried. It was a good experience.

Had the fish tacos. Very good. The patio area is awesome in the summer except that sometimes the homeless get into fist fights across the street in the park. Some find this entertaining, others think it’s distracting.

I am trying to understand this restaurant. This is Yesterday’s. I have no idea what«The Place» refers to. We a were asked to wait ten minutes because«it was super busy». Yet there were open booths, it looked like a normal night. The entire bar seating area was dark and vacant(room for 20 or so people). The entry hall in which we waited was actually a separate seating area, with tables, chairs, benches, also completely vacant. the staff said that it was not to be used and only for events. ok. immediately in front of us in line was a party of ten, who became increasingly disappointed when they could not be given a table. they left, and, as if in triumph, the staff announced to us that it would be a lot easier now that the big party was gone. it was as if the staff really did not want anyone to come in. it was a couple days after Christmas, and festive groups were out and about. the staff said that they were unprepared for the onslaught of vacationers. I thought she meant staff were vacationing. so we sat, Food was fine, waitress very attentive and helpful despite our being a bit of a pain. beer had globs/floaters in it three separate times, one was a sample. Beer lines and taps need cleaning. I routinely discourage people from dining in Newport. It is a bad idea, with two or three exceptions. usually it is provincial, expensive, and something will be glaringly wrong. even a bagel is fraught. keep your expectations low. this is NOT a food town. yesterday’s appears to be modest in price, simmering along but badly run, a busy place would have people around the bar, it would be loud, and standing room only. that is my idea of being ‘slammed’. the active area of the restaurant was only about two thirds full, so why all the drama about seating people? I think that there is no management supervision. parties of ten are a hassle because all resources end up going to them, because pacing dictates that all of a group be served simultaneously. still, I felt bad for them. this is a big place that should be able to deal with normal holiday traffic. maybe there was only one cook or something. but they ended up with our measly $ 30 tab. the party of ten would have spent far more. the tip alone would have been more than our entire bill. owners probably absentee as it seems the hands of a few kids. modest pricing, interesting beer selection on tap. I just do not get why they are turning people away when they are not particularly busy and an entire vacant room at the entrance. probably space for forty more customers if you include the empty bar. We had a good time, but did not see the need to make seating people into an ordeal. oh, the broken coat hooks at the door do not bode well. cozy creature cave atmosphere. I would definitely go there again. french onion soup!

Tuna tacos and black bean burger! Delicious lunch, for sure. Prices are reasonable for Newport, not sure why they packed everyone for lunch into the front room. French-fry portion was sadly small, you can’t load up on the starch? Seemed like a hilariously small amount to even consider bringing to the table.

A perfect, cozy, local favorite setting a short walk, but far enough away from the busy touristy area to be quieter. Dog friendly tables outside are awesome. The cuisine is largely seafood, who would have guessed in Newport, but with some interesting flair. The Thai curry mussels were a no brainer on the menu and were spicy, tangy, and succulent. The bread for mopping up the sauce was great as well. I just wish it had a straw. The scallops were also very good with an interesting sear taste and nice sides. The tandoori salmon immediately also caught my eye and did not dissapoint. Equal parts Mumbai and Newport, the rub was fantastic and tangy. The beer selection was also great and encompassed many unique craft brews from across the country. Service was equally good and actually prompt, a rarity in Newport.

Pros: — Outdoor seating — Reasonable prices(for Newport!) — Food was fresh and tasty Cons: — Indoor areas are a bit musty(think dark pub) *Tip: Make sure you peek at the specials before ordering. You can grab a really nice lunch deal!*

The black bean burger was delicious!!! I would definitely order it again! The mango salsa and guacamole on top were outstanding. My husband had the Italian sausage sandwich which was equally as good!!!

We were drawn in by the dinner menu, and realized they were serving lunch. BUT it was ok. Get the black bean burger. You will be delighted by the gooey texture and deliciousness. Its made right there. No frozen crud. It comes with a mango salsa and guac. YUM. The atmosphere was a throwback-thus«Yesterdays» I feel like the name is cheesy and doesn’t represent it well. I think you should get the black bean burger. The fish tacos were quite good too. Our last visit they had white sheet of paper for a table cloth– so obviously we played hangman.

Cyndy’s Bottom Line: Good enough food, good beer selection, and lot’s of Martinis too! Just flew in and arrived in Newport. It was decided to have dinner here. Upon observation it is a neighborhood pub. Gimmicky name. I don’t get it. Just don’t serve me yesterday’s food! The beer and martini list looks great! I ordered the Shock Top Belgian which was excellent. I ordered the swordfish. It was a nice size of swordfish and it was cooked well and not overcooked. It was served on top of angel hair pasta with shrimp, clams in the shell in a tomato based sauce. A good size portion of food. it also comes with a green salad.

Upon entering, the place looked a bit tacky. We were seated and greeted promptly. There were many october fest specials, but everything was printed on fluorescent paper – very tacky. Our sever seemed miserable, but she was nice and attentive. We ordered mussels as an appetizer and they were delicious! We had questions about the menu and what we should order based on her opinion. Each time, the server didn’t really give an opinion or a clear answer. She said it was our preference. I ended up ordering the seared tuna sandwich with a side salad and my boyfriend ordered the chicken fajita salad. Both were delicious and fresh! All for under $ 40 dollars. Yum!
