First time here and everything was great, our drinks, apps, meals and our server Allison… she filled us in on the music they have all week long with exception of a few days, this spot is right on the water beautiful view… we will definitely be back!

Overview: This place is great for the atmosphere and the views. The food is alright, nothing earth-shattering. The service was extremely lack-luster. The prices are comparable to other waterfront places in the area, but the portions were on the tiny side. We were seated immediately for a late lunch, at a great table with the perfect view. We had walked from where we left the Cliff Walk at The Breakers, so quite far. It was perfect to recover from that. There was even some light live music(complete with every Jimmy Buffet song you’d expect) to enjoy. Our waiter took awhile to find us. He did eventually and took our drink orders. We then waited almost 20 minutes for two drafts. We were starving after our walk so we ordered an appetizer-fried calamari. Tiny calamari, a little on the tough side, with meh breading and meh marinara sauce. My boyfriend enjoyed his lobster roll, though it was again, tiny. My fish and chips were the only thing that was HUGE, portion-wise. It was decent, but I’ve had better outside of New England. Final verdict: expected better quality and better cooked seafood.

Come here for the open air aspect — in the summer, you can be seated outside, right in front of the water. It’s beautiful. Live music on certain nights. It’s reminiscent of somewhere in the Florida keys. Food is excellent as well! I usually get the Crabby Patty — the chowder is great and so are the mussels. Service is ok. Nothing special, sometimes feels like you’re being rushed out.

Food is very bad not salty at all, and no taste. Product are supposed to be native but either it is false or they really kill the product. the unique positive thing is the location.

Nestled among the docks, Port offers an amazing view of the harbor. The menu is decent. but I feel like it’s missing something– it needs variety and originality. The service is pretty good. I dunno, I feel like they need to kick it up a notch.

Great view of the harbor and early bird specials brought us here for a late lunch/early dinner. It did it’s job filling our hunger but I wasn’t impressed with the service. The waiter seemed disappointed that we were sharing a meal and not drinking hence the bill would be smaller than the norm. And he seemed very aloof or at least that’s the vibe we got. The mussels were tasty and the broth was pretty awesome. Would maybe try it again but it will have to wait until next summer sadly…

OMG ! We went to the Port tonight and it was AWESOME! The food, which I had the Prime Rib and my guest had the Lobsta Pie were awesome, the Sunset spectacular, but by far the Service was Perfection. Our waiter, John had everything timed puurrffeeccttllyy… our salad came with wonderful soft rolls, then our entrees timed as we were finishing our salads… we did not feel rushed at all on a Saturday night… we sipped on our after dinner drinks and indulged in our wonderful desserts. But by far our waiter, John was very attentive and sociable. He made us feel like his restaurant was there to serve us. KUDOS, John for making US feel very very SPECIAL !

Nice views and perfect spot on the water to watch the boats come in and out. Good drinks, frozen cocktails are well done, try the mango daiquiri and the south beach is good(not frozen.) Food is good for lunch. Lobster roll(cold only, they don’t offer a hot option) is pretty solid and the lobster tacos are really well done. Also try the crab cake sandwich which is tasty but a lot of bread there.

This review is not one that can be looked past as a «bad experience» it’s an unbiased review of the establishment. Views are pretty solid, lobster bisque is very good except there’s no lobster. The service was lackluster. They play live music during the day and it’s just awful. Way too loud. I would’ve tipped them to stop playing. All that pales in comparison to the real issue: the lobster rolls. 1) no warm w/butter not mayo option. This means it’s not fresh lobster it’s prepared in advance in bulk. 2) don’t ever cut up celery into my lobster roll like it’s chicken salad. I just finished touring Maine/NH. I’ve had 5 lobster rolls in 2 days. This abomination doesn’t deserve to even be in the same sentence as the others. Just go somewhere else if you can.

Food is mediocre and the drinks are very watered down. Stick with wine or beer if you’re going to drink. Our waiter’s demeanor did a complete u-turn when he saw we had two kids in our party. Immediately he became a lot less attentive. Also, all of our food came out at once… apps/salads/soups & dinners. He obviously wanted to get rid of us as quickly as possible.

We had an excellent experience at The Port. We found the location while walking around Newport with our dog. We returned for dinner and they allowed us to have our dog sit at the table with us on their outer patio. The manager even brought her a dish of cold water. The view of the water and the boats was stunning. We stayed and had drinks and watched the sun set on the water. It was a perfect night with our little pup! GREAT service! I would highly recommend it.

Get there before 6 pm for the great view of the water and the Lobstermania specials. Food was amazing. Had ahi tuna app, steamed lobster and mango cheesecake. Service was excellent. Couldn’t ask for a better waterfront dining experience for the price.

You come here for the view, and the fact that the kitchen is open until 10:30 pm — something that is a rarity in downtown Newport, and an u welcomed surprise to someone coming from New York where dinner isn’t until 10:30. Great place to drink by the water. Two bars mean a good dispersion of the crowds, and the bartenders move fast. A good and well spirited crowd that wants to drink by the water. Food was just ok, but service was better than most places in downtown Newport. Definitely worth checking out. Live music, too. :)

It started as a good night out. We had a lot of fun until the bartender started to lower down our drinks. It was more ice and water as anything else. The bartender are unfriendly and aspect you to tip them before you even order. There even told me to fuck off as my tip wasn’t enough for them and stopped serving. I’ve been around the world for like 5 times and I never seen such s bad service in my life!

Wandered in because the restaurant was convenient to our lodging. Had a very pleasant light lunch with a great view of the harbor. The lobster bisque was excellent! The mahi mahi fish taco appetizer was quite nice as was the crab cake. It was waitress Megan’s first day. She was charming, attentive and competent. Highly recommended if you’re seeking appropriately priced good food far, far from the maddening crowd.

oysters were fresh, but everything else was meh. I think it’s a little sad when the best thing I eat are things that don’t need to be cooked, just opened. I can shuck oysters too! The seafood fra diavolo was a fairly good portion, but the sauce was a little watery and bland. Sea Scallops were cooked well, but the sides of yellow rice and vegetables were completely unimaginative and over cooked. Lastly don’t get lemon drop shots — they were $ 10 each!

Greg and I go to the same places in Newport a lot. There are so many options for dining, and we know what we like, so we typically are routinized in our restaurant choice. However, for my birthday, I wanted to try somewhere new, and somewhere relatively affordable. i am glad I experienced the Port! We got seated right away on one of the outside tables right on the water. The location is great, as you are in a nook of docks, as well as a small sandy beach, tucked away right off of Thames street… it is really unique and beautiful. There is a gorgeous flagpole to take a picture by in front of the harbor. They also have a great flow to the layout, as you can sit at the small tables on the dock, you can sit covered but outside, or you can sit inside. But all of it is pretty much open to the air. Our server was charismatic and funny, and very fast. There was a live band there, and I have heard they have live music there most nights. It was a lively, fun and friendly atmosphere. For food, I would probably rate it a 2.5−3, but they are lucky the atmosphere weighs out the negatives from my food experiences. I got the cod, and greg got the chowder and salad, with a side of shrimp. My food was just decent, it was nothing to recommend to anyone, and it tasted like it was thawed out from frozen. Most bothersome, was the bread. I am horrified to even say this but… it was still frozen in the middle. There was no question that the bread was not fresh. I asked for more, and the 2nd batch was frozen in the middle as well! Bread is one of the most important things at a restaurant, as it is often the first impression that the kitchen can make. After the bread coming out like that, I wasn’t really looking forward to the dinner. I recently came back for drinks and the raw bar before going out, and my friends also got the chicken fingers. The chicken fingers(which you can expect to be frozen), and the raw bar(Which is… raw) seemed to be very good. I will say that the prices for the food was very very reasonable(especially for Newport), and definitely adds some points in my mind. But then I question, is the food cheap because it is not fresh? Recommendations? Come for a drink, come to sit out on the water, come to listen to the band, come for the raw bar. Don’t have super high expectations on the food.

The view at The Port is breath taking. Vast ocean and boats parked at the dock. We walked along the dock and caught a fireworks show going on in Jamestown. The seats closest to the dock fill up fast so make sure you get a reservation to watch the sunset. We ended up getting seats at the bar and enjoying our dinner there. Oysters and wings to start. The wings were okay but you don’t go there to eat wings, you go for the freshly shucked oysters. I’m simple, just a little bit of lemon and my oyster is perfect except these were just so good on their own. For dinner we got some sort of pasta with a red sauce and seafood. It was okay for me. Service seemed really busy but very accommodating and friendly nonetheless.
