I gave this 4 stars because it is THE place to get ice cream on the island. They certainly don’t hold back with portions of ice cream. Everything we’ve ordered, as far as ice cream goes, has been awesome.
But if I had to rate just the food. I’d probably give the food a 3. It’s not bad, but not wow either.

Brownie fudge sundaes are the best! Looking for a late night snack, we happened upon this place on Unilocal.They were open late so we took a gamble. These sundaes are huge and come with a big brownie that was actually pretty good. I somehow expected something really processed tasting. They even have a special machine just for making whipped cream which they pipe out onto your ice cream. Great place for late night ice cream.

I prefer the food over the ice cream here. Last time I sat down to order the meal, it was a simple grilled cheese with fries. My sandwich sat under the warmer for so long the cheese got hard. My fries were cold the instant the plate was places in front of me as was the sandwich. Our waitress didn’t refill the water until I asked for the manager. I only give two stars because the did take the food off the bill and remade everything. I’ll stick with ice cream only.

My family and I have gone here for years primarily for ice cream and Awful Awfuls and are always satisfied, however the handful of times we have opted for the dine in meal have consistently been a disappointment. My son and I went for a late breakfast today and had the worst service and food we’ve experienced in a long time. We are simple customers and have no problem tipping due to spending many years in the restaurant business myself, however there was just a huge disconnect today and a feeling of being rushed or an inconvenience when the restaurant was more than halfway empty. Needless to say we’ll be sticking to the ice cream take out window from here on out.

Ewww. Found a hair in my burger patty. Nasty. They took it off the bill but at that point I was not hungry. The manager said they didn’t make the pattys there, but still… All the other food was mediocre. Don’t waste your money.

While I answered the siren call of the simple ice cream scoops, the awful awful sounds terrific… terrific (how many people have made that same bad joke?) it’s sugary deliciousness people. Really, you can’t go wrong.

This was our first time here and I have to say that it reminds me of the way Friendly’s used to be when I was little. The place is clean and the service is friendly. They have a pretty extensive menu Ido sandwiches, burgers, salads etc. they also have a huge menu of ice creams and sundaes. We did enjoy our food, but we didn’t order ice cream (next time!). This is a great place to go when you have a big group of people, or kids. Their is something for everyone here, but bring a sweater because the AC is a bit chilly.

Sweet breakfast spot! Large menu with a lot to choose from. Service was top notch and the portions were large and hot. Not one of us had a meal that we didn’t like. The only reason I only gave 4 stars was because the bathroom smelled like stale urine had sat on the floor for a month. Disgusting. Just eat and don’t go to the bathroom and you will enjoy your experience!

Came here for dinner last night (Sunday) and enjoyed the buffalo chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. (Shout out to our server, Kelly, who recommended we dip them in Thousand Island dressing… they were so good!) The sandwich was great toot; served super hot with a side order of blue cheese. After dinner, we had icecream — mint chocolate chip cone, and a walnut fudge icecream sundae. Both of these were excellent! We asked about the «awful awful» since everyone seemed to be ordering them, and our server (Second shout out for Kelly!) said it was a special milk shake made with ice milk and flavoring. We said we would come back the next day to try it out… and, turns out… they are Buy-​one-​get-​one-​free on Mondays! We returned tonight (Monday) and got two Awful Awfuls — one Nutella flavored and one Bourbon Caramel. BOTH WERE OUTSTANDING!!! So delicious. I swear, the world stopped for a few seconds when I tried it in the parking lot. Great place!

I recently visited Newport Creamery for the first time in several years, after having a craving for a coffee awful awful thanks to my co worker telling me she’d gotten one the day before.
For a weekend day it wasn’t overly busy, the 2 lines at the outside windows went fairly quickly, the girls working were friendly and efficient.
Prices are average for the area, the regular size awful awful was less than $ 5 and I believe I paid the same thing several years before when I went.
I haven’t had their ice cream in awhile, but I know it hasn’t changed. Huge variety of flavors and you won’t find a flavor you don’t like. Its that good, the food is excellent as well, wide variety on the menu, your basic burgers, fries, appetizers, soups, etc. and they have the best breakfast in the area.

Dinner was good — turkey sandwich and fries. About what you expect from a diner. Ordered the Holy Moly sundae for dessert so we could try a bunch of ice cream flavors. Some were awesome — mint chip, peanut butter cookies n cream. Others were okay.

Hot Dogs!!!
I liked eating here! Kind of reminded me of how Friendly’s used to be! Clean restaurant and the staff was nice. Our waitress was a little confused at times but still good… we got the hot dogs which were delicious! A little heavy on the onion but still good… Cold slaw was dry and tasteless so we will be skipping that next time… ice cream looks amazing… I was too full to eat any so next time I am back I will try their ice cream and will update my review when I try it!

Had a sundae. It was awesome. Classic ice cream sundae. Quality of the ice cream and toppings was very good. Prices were fair. Definitely a great choice when you’re craving some ice cream. I’ll be back. Recommended.

One of the few dessert options in the Newport area that closes after 9pm (they close at 10pm) is what brought us here.
They’re a classic ice creamery– loads of innovative ice cream flavors. We perhaps tended on the less adventurous side of things and tried flavours such as the coffee cake, choc chip cookie dough, caramel swirl, and chocolate brownie. All were highly enjoyable, although in hindsight I’d probably have tried their Awful Awful thickshakes. Questionable name but supposedly their marquee offering.
What consolidated the 5-​star rating was our young server Justin, who was either on a sugar high, extremely passionate about ice cream, or just a very effervescent personality (or a combo of the above) — but either way his enthusiasm made the Newport Creamery experience that much better for us!

I was in Newport for some military training and I ended up going to Newport Creamery a couple times just for dessert. They have some pretty good/​unique ice cream flavors and their Awful Awful Milkshake is deadly good. One of the ice cream flavors I got had graham cracker pieces in it – so good. I like the big squared-​C shaped table located near the ice cream area.
You must check out Newport Creamery if you’re in Newport and in serious need of great ice cream.
