Great specials daily and fantastic Italian food. If you are in Rhode Island and do not stop by when in Newport, you are making a critical error!

I’ve been to Mama Leone’s twice and both times were not enjoyable. The last time I went I have gotten the chicken Parmesan and I can’t even begin to explain how disgusting it was. It was still FROZEN yes I said frozen. Then when I sent it back it came out burnt. My boyfriend got a burger and he only enjoyed the fries. I know people who rave about this place than others who have had similar experiences to mine. I say try it once to see what your tastebuds like.

This place just gets worse and worse. You look at the 3.5 stars– then you realize that it’s an average of all the 1 star & 5 star reviews. Called for pick up– had to call back 4 times– asked to be put on hold twice, hung up on, finally said do you want my business or not? Arrived and the staff refused to check on my order, a hostess asked me to go ask the car waiting for me to move in the pouring rain, complained to the manager who just didn’t care when I told her I wouldn’t be back.
The pizza is horrible & the salads and pasta are worse and not cheap, the restaurant isn’t very clean, the service is terrible, and the staff will bully you if you comment on social media– give it a miss. Spend a little more at Pasta Beach or Nickolas.

If I could give no stars I would.
We stopped getting pizza from here awhile ago, better options around with better taste and no delivery charge. They have a special running now on their internet stating call in at 4:02 pm and get a large cheese pizza for $ 4.02, minimum 5. So we decided to give it a shot as I had my son & grandkids coming over. First: they would not honor the «5 minimum» they have posted on their website !! –laughed and said «oh we need to update that, you can get 2» ! NOT right, even legally. So I went ahead and ordered 2 pizzas, paying extra to add sausage and ordered a «specialty white pizza» adding spinach & bacon (FIRST pizza place I ever came across that charged extra for white pizza & called it «speciality»! It’s just leaving off the red sauce and adding cheese & garlic ! No need to charge extra) Husband picked up the pizza… it was very disappointing ! I come from CT and grew up on REAL Italian Wooster St pizza and this was not close. It was VERY dry of sauce, WAY over-​cooked, dry, very dark and sausage dried up on top almost burnt. Crust was more Greek style and too thick with strange taste. The «special» pizza I ordered was also dry, –sparse cheese, no garlic flavor, also over-​cooked? I do cut a LOT of slack on pizza styles and taste in RI and usually don’t judge too harshly but even at $ 4.02-$ 5.49 each this pizza was not worth ordering again. I only ate 2 pieces, kids didn’t even finish one each, and husband & son who will eat anything ate a few and we tossed the rest away as was so dry you wouldn’t be able to reheat without it becoming shoe leather. NO excuse for over-​cooked, dry pizza !
Never again. too many better options in the area.

Great deals monday through wednesday. Good alcohol selection as well. Pizza and pasta are awesome.

We stop here during both Newport Marathon and Pell Bridge Run. We are always satisfied with our pasta dinners

Went as a group of nine but could not get separate checks which caused a very long and painful experience. Also received cold calamari and a burger bun with mold. The manager tried to correct with free dessert but the experience got worse when we went to pay.
Nice atmosphere, but these experiences will cause me not to go back.

Great pizza ! Love the guilt free pizza; makes me feel good to eat it and not feel bad after doing it. Great if you’re trying to watch your calories. My new favorite pizza place.

Make sure you let them know that you want separate checks if your situation requires it. Just had to split the bill between 7 people because we didn’t tell them we needed separate checks. Most places will ask if you need separate checks. Oh and watch for rocks in the clam chowder. About busted a crown.

My family and I have been going since the day my parents started dating (twenty five years ago) and we make a point to enjoy a family dinner out once a week and it’s always at Mama Leones. The wings, pizza and pasta are to die for and the environment as well as staff always make us seem welcome and work with smiles on their faces. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a relaxing night off or who wants good priced and great proportioned food! So, anyone who’s around the area looking for a bite to eat I highly recommend Mama Leones

Loved my first meal from here! We ordered pasta for delivery. I had the chicken and sausage in a vodka cream sauce. He had the ziti with sausage, along with cheesy breadsticks. Everything arrived hot, and there was a ton of food! Will definitely order from them again!

A daily forgettable calzone. Got it delivered. COLD Marinara sauce. Way overdone. Pricey to boot considering the dough to filling ratio.

We stopped by tired and hungry on a rainy afternoon after walking around Newport all day. It’s a nice, clean, simple establishment. The food and service didn’t disappoint. Service was great from the moment we entered, the woman at the bar welcomed us and our server spoke like he was genuinely happy to see us! The veggie pizza and cheese ravioli hit the spot. Definitely recommend this restaurant as its possibly the best food we’ve had in Newport so far!

So just to be clear, this half price wing deal on Tuesdays only applies to the boneless. This place just keeps getting less and less appealing as a place that gives you a good deal for your buck. Sure the food is pretty good but it’s not gourmet or anything. You can do better around the area for your dollar. The servers can be a little more welcoming sometimes too.

Convenient at best. The pizza is okay, but it’s really hit or miss. There are times where its very good, but for every good one we’ve had, we’ve also gotten one that’s burnt to hell. The dinners aren’t great either. The chicken parmesan was super rubbery. It wasn’t edible. Same with the Chicken Marsala. Other dishes faired better.
On the up side, the staff is VERY friendly.
Not the best, not the worst.

I am giving this place a 5 star review based on two key factors.
1) the food has been consistently good for the last 10 + years, never a miss here.
2) I was going to give it 4 stars but my wife said, no 5!

TLDR: Placed an order for delivery over the phone, was charged upfront, delivery never arrived even though an hour past the delivery window they assured me it would arrive. 2 hours later they said that actually they had cancelled the order and never sent a delivery driver. No remedy or immediate refund offered; took 7 days for them to reverse the charge.
I placed an order over the phone was told it would be delivered in 30 – 45 minutes. I called an hour later and the same woman who took my order said that the driver was already on his way and that he’d be there shortly. 30 minutes later I called again – «he’s on his way still we just spoke to him.» Keep in mind the delivery address was less than 4 miles away from this establishment.
2 hours later I called again and immediately the same woman said, «oh yea we cancelled that order.» Me: «What??? but 30 minutes ago you said the driver was on his way and 30 minutes prior to that you said he was on his way, what changed?» Her: «We never sent a driver, we cancelled the order immediate.» Me: «So you lied then and you never informed me of the cancellation, and now it’s two hours later and you’ve already charged me upfront.» Her: *transfers me to supervisor*. Supervisor: *very apologetic, offers to have friends in town deliver the pizza but now it’s late in the evening and too late to wait for them to mess up again*.
This is sad because I was a customer in 2013 and 2014 with almost no issues except for once they didn’t cook the dough properly and everyone became ill.

Pasta bolognase was pretty good. Very cheesy. I’ve never had cheese in a bolognase sauce but it was still good. Meatballs were good, but it was hard to dicern if they were home made. I also tried friend marinara sauce. I’ll be back to get some of that. It was really good.

It’s not a good first impression when the server tells the host that it’s not their turn to get assigned as they’re looking at the seating chart. And it pretty much went downhill from there.
Our server seemed in a hurry to get rid of us, even suggesting that we go down the street for dessert!!!
The only positive thing was that the food was good.
I won’t go back there again and won’t recommend it to any friends coming here for work like we did.

My family usually go to dinner here on Saturdays. There is never a wait. We are seated quickly and the wait staff is great!
I order the same every week. The chick pea salad with there homemade balsamic dressing. Delish! Highly recommend.
The turkey club is a favorite of my step dads. He says it’s the best he ever had! We love the atmosphere we can chat and enjoy our meal without any rush.
