We loved staying here with our dog! Very spacious apartment above Rogue Alehouse. Downstairs has a pet friendly patio and the food was really good. We were super comfortable and loved walking around the bayfront. I only wish there was a space for dogs to use the bathroom, but that’s not the hotel’s fault.

My in-laws have been staying here for years and years, and I have recently been inducted into the Rogue family club! This is like renting someone’s beach house — convenient and… sorta nice. If you’re used to fancy new hotels, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it, but it’s clean and big. We rented one of the two-bedroom apartments. The in-laws snagged the bedroom with the queen bed, which left me and my husband with… well, I’m not really sure what it was. Potentially a double, or maybe even some sort of Victorian trundle bed thrown onto a 1960’s creaky brass frame? Rogue, you charge $ 5.75 a pint. Throw down on some new mattresses, all right? Minus one star. However, there’s a full kitchen, laundry room, giant living room, and many seating options. The apartments are extremely well-insulated, because I barely heard a thing from the bar downstairs, and I’m one of those people who hears everything.

We got stuck in southern Oregon when the 5 closed for 7 hours due to a snowstorm and couldn’t make the first night of our reservation. Stacey was so accommodating and even called us to tell us to drive safely and take our time. We finally got here and checked in down at the bar. The apartment is HUGE with a patio overlooking Bay Blvd. Full kitchen, comfy furniture, and the best part… dog friendly! They let us check in early, too, which was so nice. This apartment is a steal and is close to a lot of awesome things… coffee shop, Local Ocean, Noodle Café, and a short drive to Brewer’s on the Bay, Rogue Distillery, Aquarium, and Hatfield Science Center. You can have a beer at night and then make your way up the staircase to your quiet, comfortable apt. Definitely bring a hairdryer if you think you’ll need it during the colder winter months, but other than that, this apartment has everything you need and more. Will stay here again and recommend to all our friends!

Stayed in the two bedroom apartment. It’s very big and clean with a balcony overlooking Bay Street. There is no water views but you do get a glimpse of the Yaquina Bay Bridge. The apartment is not fancy. The beds need to be updated(creaky/lumpy) and every curtain is undersized for the windows. The smaller bedroom has windows that just overlook the main hallway so it never gets dark in there because of the light coming in around the too-small, shear curtains. So, bring your eye shade! It was interesting to stay on Bay Street which is a working port. During the day when the hordes of tourists come it’s hard to really appreciate all the working that is happening there. So, to get up early and stroll down to Coffee House as the fishermen and fisherwomen are already getting in high gear and listen to the barking sea lions and gulls calling — it’s pretty cool! I was worried that staying over the Ale House Pub would be noisy but it was surprisingly sound-insulated. The first night we were there, there was a sweet little party going on on the patio but other than laughter and music drifting up(which was all over by 9pm), you really had no idea. Everyone there was very hospitable and for the price and the size, really worth it for a unique look at Newport. For that, 4 stars. But, really, it’s not fancy so keep that in mind and 3.5 stars would probably be more accurate. Places to eat: the Coffee House had a great breakfast, Local Ocean is fancy but worth it for a really great seafood dinner.

This was a fun option on a 10 day brew-centric vacation. Keep in mind, this is located in a busy working fisherman’s bay. There is a fish processing plant near here, and is very industrial with a few shops and restaurants that cater to both local fishermen and tourists. We checked in at the bar during a busy evening. The good: There’s a bar downstairs, of course! We were given a 2 bedroom apartment. It was big and had everything we needed and then some. Full kitchen, washer and dryer, two 22 oz. beers in the fridge, coffee, two couches, a decent tv, toiletries, and lots of beer-centric reading material. The place was very clean, even though the carpet was a bit stained and wasn’t fancy. The small patio had a table and two chairs overlooking the street and fish plant with the bay and beautiful bridge in the distance. The bad: Bad is relative-these are really minor. No elevator and a long stairwell is your option for getting upstairs. There’s an old auto chair lift along the stairwell, so if you have mobility issues, this is an option for you(unless it doesn’t work?). No hairdryer, so bring your own or let the Newport breezes dry your hair. Other comments: There’s a pretty good restaurant next door that fishes for their own fish/seafood and buys from other local boats. Menu was great, service was decent, some execution problems. Pasta had too much thick cream sauce that was boiling hot and thus led to tough, overcooked prawns. But I’d still say to go and try some of their fried or grilled fish or shellfish. A few other restaurant options are down the block. Service in the bar was hit or miss. Friendly enough, but the bartenders were easily distracted so their follow up after giving you a sample of something could be a long wait. Buy your merchandise over at the brewery instead of here-more options in swag and sizes.

Part of my reason for visiting Oregon was to stay at the House of Rogue Bed and Beer! I had heard great things about it and by far exceeded our expectations. We rented a 2 bedroom apartment for one night… it was very spacious and VERY affordable for 4 people! The apartment is equipped with everything you need and they also throw in 2 bottles of beer. It’s located right above the Ale House, which was pretty cool. I“ll go ahead and include my review of the Ale House here too. Beer was amazing as expected. Their draft list was pretty incredible and my fave brew by far was the Chipotle Ale! I brought a couple of those back to Cali with me. Not a lot of options to eat in the sleepy town of Norwalk so we ate dinner at the Ale House. Food was alright, but not outstanding. I think our only complaint was that the ale house closed kind of early for a Friday night… i think a little after midnight. The experience was totally worth it though and it would be really fun to stay with a big group here. I would highly recommend it!

wheeee! driving to Portland from the Bay Area via the coast highway with rogue bed and beer as one of the planned stops was pretty damned good kinda planning, I’d say. so it ain’t no ritz-carlton, and newport, or ain’t no bustling beach town but plop me in a pooch friendly spot(my doggy was quite content) that’s SPRAWLING compared to the usually small hotel rooms, and gimme one replete with amenities like a full kitchen, a fridge(with a couple of refreshingly chilled pints of Rogue Beer to welcome you from your long travels… ahhhhh) and 2 pint glasses to boot; atop the pub that serves food until 2AM?(kobe beef sliders for midnight snackies, anyone? anyone?) HELLYES! The price isn’t bad either, considering the size of the apartment(yes, it’s basically an apartment above the brew pub). I’d stay there again, and plan to be there longer so I can drink as much beer as possible, and have friends and poochies to enjoy it with.
