Cash & Carry is a restaurant supply store that has quite a few things for regular folks. There are a number of items we get here for much cheaper than the grocery store and if you eat a lot of something, this is the place to get it. For example, coconut milk went on sale for $ 1.19 per can and we bought a case. This stuff — not watered down«lite» or with added preservatives — sells for up to $ 4 per can. We also buy #10 cans of tomatoes — the big ones — to make pasta sauce. Large bags of sundried tomatoes, too. There’s a section of cookware, which is a great place to find large stainless steel bowls, or baking dishes and utensils, or anything for having a banquet. Three refrigerated sections contain dairy, vegetables, and frozen meats. You can get rack of lamb at a decent price or a slab of bacon or a really large chunk of cheese. The quality varies and it’s best to try something before buying more than one of it. We love the pound of frozen baby clams — in juice — for $ 4/lb. and make them with pasta once a week. Condiments and oils are cheaper here if you want to buy those in bulk. Asian foods, coffee and Torani syrups. They even sell Dave’s Killer Bread for $ 3 instead of the $ 4.50 it goes for at Fred Meyer. It’s worth checking out just to see what they’ve got. And make sure you look carefully, things are loaded up pretty high on tall shelves. A few other notes: They close early and are very prompt about that. Get a heavy industrial cart from outside to push around and pick up cardboard boxes while you’re at it, to pack your groceries in. Finally, in my experience, the vegetables don’t last very long. They’re a great deal but you have to eat/cook/freeze them quickly.
