Great Atmosphere and service. The food wasn’t anything fancy. More of a place to enjoy company. A more chill-version of an Applebee’s. I had the fish tacos, they were really good, not phenomenal. I do like that they serve popcorn as an appetizer, so that makes it really different. Prices were fair as well. It was a pay-for-what-you-get kind of place to me, that’s why I gave it 3⁄5.

service was fine, food was fine. I see us coming back here on days we are headed onto base and unsure of where to eat before. Kinda reminded me of a chili’s or a Applebees. both of our dishes were satisfactory but lacking a flavor umph. it kinda has the feel of a place you know you could make the dish at home but you also know you are too lazy to do so

I’m not a chain type of dude typically, but growing up outside of New England and only being in state for 2 years or so, I finally made it to this 99 for my first ever 99 visit. So everyone I spoke to prior my visit categorizes 99 as a local Chiles/Applebees. I beg to differ. I thought; while they do share the same concept(broad menus, laid back — fast casual sort of feel) I’d rate a 99 a step or two above above mentioned competitors: –Who can say no to free popcorn –SURPRISINGLY good beer and drinks; the wife loved her margarita(they used top shelf tequila and didn’t use any of that super sweet mix) and I became an instant fan of their in-house, Horseshoe Ale which is brewed by Wachussett Brewing in MA! –I’m a bone-in type of wing guy but their boneless wings were on point –The Sweat Heat burger was the highlight of the night; cooked perfectly, with jalapeño relish and sliced jalapenos and a fat olé’ slice of Vermont cheddar. Was really not expecting it to be that good! Staff went above and beyond. There is plenty of parking to be had. Hoping to check out their trivia night next time! 10% discount for all Vets, everyday(does not include booze)!

I come back to 99 Ranch everytime I’m in Newport, R.I. I have been there 3 times in the last week. The fish n’ chips were awesome, the wings were fatty and disappointing, but then today I had the chicken pot pie… and again it was fantastic! The service is always great and the beer is cold. Can’t wait to try something else in a day or two!

Great staff, always welcoming and very friendly. The food is excellent and comes out quickly. They have a wing special on Thursday along with trivia.

I haven’t been to a 99 in years and I was disappointed. We ordered to chicken pot pies on a slow Monday night. It seemed the staff was more taken with the patrons that were frequent flyers. Our water was hardly kept filled. The meals took a good 25 minutes to come out. While they were good, I don’t think I will be going back. Hostess stand was empty and out waitress spent most of her time talking to another group of women.

We were looking for a place that has a gluten free menu. My daughter has celiac and is also a picky eater. This place is awesome! ! She was able to have a cheeseburger with a gluten free bun and loved it too. It was very simple but tasty for the rest of us too. The steak and ribs are very tasty as well. The low price was also a nice little surprise.

The staff is great, come more then once and they know your name. Thursday nights is wing(49cents) and trivia night. Come and try to beat my team. Food is always good and on time. All the popcorn you can eat! They love the kids here as well.

I have never been disappointed with any meal at this 99. From the prime rib(tender, juicy, flavorful) to the country fried chicken(juicy, crispy, big portions); it all tastes great. This has become a frequent lunch stop. Lots of options to choose from, and the free popcorn appetizer will keep your hunger at bay until your food arrives. Don’t forget, the kids eat free after a Red Sox win, always a smart choice for lunch or dinner.

Service is great but food is really really meh. Like a low budget Chilis or Applebee’s. Ordered a burger and fries. The fries weren’t hot and the burger meat tasted cheap. I will not be returning to this place.

I had never really been to a 99 til recently, at least not since I have remembered. I also have about a 1 week memory. I have been coming here for trivia, and its unusually packed for Thursday nights. The food I have tried looks nothing more than frozen(expected), and the popcorn they offer you looks appetizing at first, but its stale/over salted. The bartenders are the WORST. Not only are they rude, but they give you attitude back! They certainly have favorites at the bar, and we will be neglected for over an hour with an empty drink! Many times we think to ourselves… «We would get another drink, but she won’t even look us in the eye. If she isn’t going to help us, we aren’t going to give her more business. The only good thing I can say is that their deserts are BOMB. I can honestly say, if it weren’t for the Trivia, I would never come back to a 99 again. However, the trivia is fun, the host is good and friendly, and the prizes(ski tickets!) are pretty solid.

It’s a chain restaurant like others have mentioned with a casual dining style like Applebee’s, Chilis, or Ruby Tuesday. The prices are comparable as well. They have a bar too so you can get some spirits as well. They have a lot of booth seating so that is nice and they have free popcorn too. I’ve never had bad experiences here in the handful of times I’ve been here in the past couple years. The location is convenient in the shopping complex so you can hit up Wally World or the other stores too. It’s fine for casual dining like others have mentioned.

Tonight we took our twin daughters to 99 Newport to celebrate their 9th birthday. I almost vomited when one of the girls pulled a big fingernail clipping out of her mouth and said it was from the ice cream sundae she was eating. The manager confirmed that it was a fingernail clipping and said she would talk to the staff about being more careful. Really? More careful? How about talking to them about not clipping their nails in the kitchen! I’m sickened by the whole event.

Always enjoyed eating at the Pub 99. The bar area is usually kept in a nice clean state and there’s always lots of seats with good views of TV. The food is good for a chain restaurant. I don’t stray too much from my usual few dishes but I never seem to get a bad meal. Most of the time if an appetizer and main dish are ordered, some food comes home with us, which is always nice. Staff are always super friendly. The music could be improved, they are all over the map and its usually the WORST music you could hear.

I would compare this restaurant to the likes of Applebee’s or Chili’s. The prices are as reasonable but the quality of food is much better. They have spectacular entrée specials for $ 9.99. I’ve had the New Orleans shrimp, the balsamic grilled chicken, the New England fried shrimp, and the chicken and sausage al forno. I have not been disappointed with a single meal, both in portion size and taste. The 99 reasons to love Ninety Nine signs that hang around the restaurant are kind of cheesy, but I don’t care. It is a casual dining place so don’t expect a gourmet meal, but it is definitely good food and generous portions at a great price.

My first experience with this establishment was not under the best of circumstances. We had just moved here, nothing was unpacked and we needed to pick up a few things from the store to survive the night. We saw this place nearby and decided to have a go and were pleasantly surprised at how good this place actually is. At first glance you would think this place is just a cheap Applebees rip-off, but it is actually surpasses them by a large margin. The food is pretty remarkable. A little heavy on the sodium, but otherwise on par with most local places that charge top-notch price, and even better than some. The atmosphere is what you would expect. The music reminds me of high school and college, so it doubly resonates with me. They serve beer, so hooray! Word of caution, many places like this are only as good as what you order. If you order a BBQ brisket and expect Texas, you have no one to blame but yourself. If you want a decent generic steak with a nice glaze and good side, you’ll be just fine. If you just want a nice dinner with the kids, give it a shot. Expect 10 – 15 dollars a person, more if you include alcohol.

Meh. Our service was sllllllllow, but nice. Pre-dinner popcorn: a fun snack & the kids loved it. Kids meals: great portions! Quesadilla comes with pico & lettuce on the side & a side & a drink(juice or milk is an option, yay) Fish tacos: were quite good, but not quite enough fish on each one. Sauce was mayo mostly with something mixed in. Needed more toppings. Came with dried shredded cabbage. Chicken fajitas: the worst my dad has ever had. He orders them just about everywhere. Overly seasoned. Dried out meat.
