I am a patient of Dr Flora, but Dr Speir helped deliver my baby. She was extremely knowledgeable and compassionate. I was in a ton of pain and she was very calming. I highly recommend her!

I am so impressed with Dr. Spier and I highly recommend her as an Obgyn. Not only is she super smart, attentive and caring, she has great people skills. She will actually personally call you with results, follow-​up or questions. It’s evident that she is one of the doctors that truly cares.

I love Dr. Speir! She was my obgyn throughout my whole pregnancy, and I was lucky enough to have her deliver my baby as well. She is very professional, warm, and personable. I felt at ease with her the entire time. She always took the time to listen to any questions I had and never made me feel rushed. This was my first pregnancy so I was very anxious about what the whole process would be like. Dr. Speir made me feel comfortable and always told me exactly what to expect. She was so sweet the day of delivery… I was induced and she kept coming in my room to check on me. She was again so warm and professional throughout the labor and delivery. The next day she called to check on me. I actually felt sad when I no longer had anymore appointments to see her lol I highly recommend her and can’t imagine having anyone else for our future second child.

Dr. Speirs was on call when my water broke. She was so sweet over the phone and helping calm this first time mom’s nerves. When we arrived at the hospital she was there shortly after to answer any questions and examine me. She was incredibly sweet and caring during the entire process. Love her!

Dr. Speir just delivered our baby on Saturday. She was wonderful the entire pregnancy and on d day. I mainly saw her out of the Irvine office and never had any issues being seen quickly and on time. The other office in Newport is busier, so delays can be expected sometimes (as is the norm I’ve found with many OB’s — they are delivering babies after all). I have nothing but great things to say about her. If you are looking for an OB that is not only knowledgeable and experienced but has great bedside manners, she is the one. Highly recommend.

Dr. Speir is absolutely the best doctor! Anyone that goes to her will not be disappointed. She is attentive, caring, knowledgable and the nicest doctor you will ever meet! She will spend as much time as necessary answering your questions and putting you at ease. She will personally call you to check in with you and go over lab results and help you process all the information. I was never a fan of doctors until I met her! Her staff (Rita and Linda) are amazing as well! They were very helpful when I came to them with any questions!

Received a visit from Dr. Speir after delivery and she was amazing. Sweet, compassionate and great at what she does.

Another update at 20 weeks, came in for an 8am approvingly that I had schedule weeks ago, only for them to tell me that my appointment was at 8:30 and nobody had told me. Annoying. Waited for my ultrasound which went fine. Then had my appointment with Dr Speir which was scheduled for 9am, and she didn’t show up until 10am. This office is a mess. I really don’t think it’s worth the stress even though Dr Speir is wonderful. I’m going to switch MDs.

I’m sure I will write another review after our baby is due… but I feel I should now too. Im sure most women say their OBGYN is the best, but let me tell you about my experience with Dr. Speir and you decide. Heres the short version… I became pregnant in March 2013 with our first and miscarried, Dr. Speir saw me right away and we scheduled a D&C. Though tragic we understood how common 1 miscarriage was and we were optimistic to try again… I had my second miscarriage just a few months later. Feeling defeated Dr. Speir was determined to help us figure out what was going on and scheduled a pelvic MRI along with some other tests. Most Dr.‘s will wait until after your 3^rd miscarriage to do testing! After some testing, most of which was inconclusive, we decided to try again. **Though our tests were inconclusive they did give us a lot of information and insight. We found out that the miscarriages were more than likely due to abnormalities in my uterus. The point wasn’t that the tests didn’t give us a definitive answer it was the fact that Dr. Speir was being so proactive. On October 28^th I tested positive with my 3^rd pregnancy. I had bleeding just a few weeks later and Dr. Speir ordered tests and saw me immediately. I was convinced I was having yet another miscarriage and waited a long weekend for blood results. It was a Tuesday morning I was just over 6 weeks when we saw her heart beat. Dr. Speir was cautiously optimistic and extremely proactive with testing, bi weekly ultrasounds, etc. She would return my calls at 8 – 9 pm anytime I had a cramp or concern she was there for me. She would make time to see me in the office even on days she wasn’t taking patients. I literally felt like I was her only patient and my health and the health of our baby was number one priority at all times. At each milestone we had our little victory celebration 12 weeks, 24 weeks… She decided professionally to switch her practice from UCIrivne medical center to Island OBGYN officiated with Hoag hospital when I was around 15 weeks. Without thinking twice I moved with her and she made the transition seamless. Now as I get closer and closer to delivery I have so many questions and she is extremely transparent and open. I ask her opinion as a mother and as a doctor and she gives me both. Now I’m 30 weeks!
**On a side note I noticed there was a sanitation review on here. In my experience she has always been very sanitary, and I’ve never felt like she wasn’t taking all precautions when it comes to cleanliness.

Personality is fine. I have no issues with who she is as a person.
However…
I have a BIG problem with medical professionals who do not practice proper infection control. After introducing herself to me she washed her hands and placed gloves on.
And then…
She forgot something from the other room so she opened the door (while wearing gloves) and left to get whatever it was she needed (could have touched anything out there), then closed then door (still wearing the gloves)… Then opened the cabinet door in the room to get a swab and gauze I think… then proceeded to move toward me to begin her examination… But not before she tucked her hair behind her ears (while still wearing the same gloves she is about to shove up inside of me)
Fact:
– Hepatitis C is a highly infectious virus that can survive on a surface for up to 16 hours. If one of her patients that day had Hep C, and Dr. Speir had done the same thing she did with me (touching all those surfaces with those gloves), I could have potentially contracted a serious liver damaging disease.
– Hep C is just one example. There are millions of bacteria, viruses, and parasites that can survive on countertops and doorknobs for days, weeks, maybe even years.
This is absolutely unacceptable and quite honestly something like that should be grounds for a license suspension. she needs to take a few infection control courses and literally cleans up her act!
And for those wondering… I got up right away and practically ran out of that office.

So far, it has been such a wonderful experience with Dr. Speir. This is our first baby and she has been so great with all of our questions. My husband and I are so impressed and would recommend her to anyone!

Dr. Speir has an amazing bed side manner. She is friendly, genuine, and caring. Office staff is great. My annual exam was, should I say… wonderful?! If your looking for a thorough, knowledgable and friendly OB this is the woman to see.

She made the experience as comfortable as it could be. She takes the time to meet with you before the exam and have a consultation. She listens to what you have to say and you can tell she really cares about what she’s doing. She’s really gentle during the exam which was my biggest concern. The receptionists are really nice too.

Dr. Vinita Speir is the ABSOLUTE BEST!!! She comes highly recommended not only as her patient but I’m also a nurse by profession and I know a doctor with great bedside manners when I meet one :-)

I’ve never had such a relaxed experience at a well woman exam. It’s a very comfortable and relaxed environment. Dr. Speir is confident and definitely knows her stuff. I like that she actively listened to me and when hearing where my concerns are she provided me with options that were providing me vitamins through eating more of certain foods.
I’ll be referring friends (that have procrastinated just like me, since they don’t have a doctor they trust). I am sure they will all be happy.
