They weren’t kidding about the size. If you get the pasta salad or potato salad it really is quite filling. The spicy chicken sandwich had a great kick of flavor with all the chipotle mayo goodness and avocado for some added creamy-ness. Pasta salad was okay compared to the sandwich but overall well worth the $ 9.13. Definitely coming back again! Quality great for price and portion + added bonus of kind service so 5⁄5

My girlfriend and I ate here the other night. First, the employees were no where to be found. They were in the back eating. The food made both of us violently ill. We think it was the basil pasta salad.

I love their sandwiches and their side pasta! I come here pretty often and It’s definitely so yummy and one my faves! The reason for my 3 stars is because the workers don’t seem eager to serve you. To my knowledge, the food court closes at 9pm on week days. I came here on a wednesday night(tonight) at 8:45pm and asked if I could order something. The employees were already cleaning and said that they were closed. I am pretty sure every single restaurant around was open and they were the only ones closing. They still had enough time to serve. I thought you couldn’t close before 9pm if it is stated that THAT is your closing time… I have worked in restaurants before and our manager would never allow us to close early, not even by one minute.

Grabbed a bbq chicken ranch salad to go. It was huge(twss)! Although, it was mostly lettuce. It could have used a hint more chicken(but the servings are pre-portioned). My one main annoyance is that they slap the bread on top of your salad, which was just squirted with bbq sauce, so your bread ends up covered in bbq sauce on the bottom. So it gets a little messy. But other than that, it was a good sized salad for around $ 9, and the taste was good; my favorite part is probably the mound of onion straws on top! :)

Food is good but the employees are not nice at all. Don’t dare to ask for clarification on a menu item. You’ll get an eye roll and an attitude. Every time I come here it’s the same rude Hispanic girl that looks at you like your speaking a foreign language.

Not a fan. The tuna sandwich was either poorly put together or the ingredients make the bread easily soggy to the point when you pick it up for the first time everything breaks apart leaving a plate of sandwich pieces but no whole sandwich. Not a fan of the potato or pasta salad either. Between the two. Both Taste exactly the same. i think its a whole lot of dill. For the first its likely a last.

Stone Oven WHY :( I love Stone Oven. I love the one that they have in Ontario Mills. But the one that’s in Fashion Island– I’ve been here multiple times and the quality of the focaccia bread is on and off. Take yesterday when I went, Monday evening around 5pm. It was solo me and I ordered the focaccia bread with the chipotle mayo sauce(mhmm). The bread yesterday wasn’t hot like it always is– rather, it was warm. The person also didn’t cut it completely ._. Usually they cut all the pieces into ¼ths. I got a huge chunk of 6 pieces :’( Their location is nice though, as it’s located in the Atrium Food Court in Fashion Island. It’s right next to the downstairs escalator as well. I’ll come back here because it is on the way from the beach to UCI, and hopefully the focaccia bread that I get will be like Ontario Mills’! :D

Located in the Fashion Island food court, Stone Oven offers sandwiches and salads. Make no mistake though. Stone Oven is not your typical fast food joint or food court fare. The restaurant serves tasty options made with high quality ingredients. Notes: — The focaccia bread here is made fresh in the restaurant’s stone oven. The bread is well executed: chewy, yet soft. — Each gourmet sandwich includes a side item(garden salad, Caesar salad, pasta salad, potato salad, or chips). It is a filling lunch, especially if you opt for the pasta salad or potato salad to accompany your meal. — Our favorite is the spicy chicken(spicy chicken breast, provolone cheese, chipotle mayo, black bean & corn salsa, and avocado). It is a hearty sandwich packed with flavor and just the right amount of heat from the zesty chicken and the chipotle mayo dressing. Stone Oven is always one of our top picks when we are at Fashion Island.

Stone Oven is located at the Fashion Island food court, specifically next to Hana Grill. I came by the food court with my mom a little over a week ago on a Sunday afternoon after 1 pm. There was 2 people ahead of me in line and 2 people behind me. After it was finally my turn to order, I ended up getting: BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad With Dressing On The Side(as requested) $ 9.45 after tax– This salad is a really big portion that is good enough for 2 – 3 people. Even though I had asked for the dressing on the side(which I did get), I had barbecue sauce on top of this salad(if I would have known, I probably would have asked for that on the side too). This salad has fried onions, barbecue chicken, shredded mozzarella cheese, diced tomato, black beans and salsa, and tortilla strips all on of a bed of mixed greens and romaine lettuce. The sun dried tomato dressing was pretty good and went well with everything in this salad. I especially liked the thick 4 pieces of foccasia bread served with this dish. They were really good and flavorful. Everything in this salad was really good(normally this salad comes with bacon but I didn’t get any. But that is fine because I would have asked to omit it anyway to make this salad a bit healthier). I would order this salad again if I was ever to order from Stone Oven again.

It was my first time there and I had a not so good experience. I paid in cash and while I was having a conversation with my friend, it slipped my mind to wait for my change back. The shocking thing is, they didn’t even call me back to remind me that I forgot my change(over $ 10 in cash back)! They kept it and acted like nothing happened! I didn’t get my change back until I had to walk back and remind them. Plus, I was only 2 feet away, waiting as they make my salad and it never phased them to tell me! The food experience on the other hand was very tasteful! The green apple, chicken and walnut salad is delicious! It’s everything I love in a salad. The balsamic drizzle and their dressing was a great balance in flavor! & four slices of amazing flat bread with it? Not gonna say no to that!

Best mall food! I’ve been going to this place in various malls and gallerias for years now. It is consistently super yummy! I always get the veggie sandwich which comes on the most amazing soft, warm focaccia bread. The pesto pasta salad is also really good. Great ingredients, seemingly healthy and quick! You can also order bread to take home… WINNING! Chipotle mayo dipping sauce!

Garden Vegetable Sandwich with a side of Basil Pasta salad. The bread they use is freshly made foccacia which sets this sandwich shop apart from most. Definitely one of the healthier options available in the food atrium at Fashion Island.

Ordered the chipotle chicken sandwich with basil pasta salad. It was a lot better than I expected and I think it was because of the bread. I do agree with other Unilocalers that the bread is very good. I prefer the flatter/skinnier bread because the ratio of bread to filling is better. As for the side, I didn’t taste the basil in the pasta salad and it didn’t taste very flavorful-basic. The price is decent for what you get. I want to go back to try the salads.

Came here after a hike at Cyrstal Cove and it was delicious. Holy the bread was amazing. I usually don’t eat much gluten but WOW this was worth every calorie and bloated stomach. I had a salad with goat cheese and vinaigrette dressing(can’t remember what it was called). It was really good and huge. It didn’t take long to make, but it is in a food court so finding seating could get difficult. It also isn’t super easy to get to because it is in the middle of fashion island but worth a stop if you’re shopping and need a healthy pick me up!

First time eating stoneoven and it was soo good! I got a Sante fe sandwich and got spicy chicken instead of ham and it was delicious! The cashier was really nice and the food came out fresh and fairly quickly.

Completely enjoyed my meal. I had the pastrami sandwich and the Cesar salad. My sandwich was simple but delicious. The bread that they use is very yummy. If you are in need of a quick but great meal go here.

I would agree to the other reviews that Stone Oven serves good quality and healthy meal choices at a very reasonable price. Met my expectations. The three stars however is for the staff’s efficiency and hygiene. I came here on a Monday around 4:20PM with the intent of grabbing something fast. The guy who took my order was attentive which I appreciated. What turned me off was the lady manning the salad station and the two other guys who seemed to be on their break and chose to hang out on the other side of the salad bar glass cover. They, particularly the guy in braces, were engaging the salad lady in an already prolonged conversation during her work hours. Not only did this activity slow her down but it also had her talking while preparing my food. The whole time I was waiting for my salad, the two men blocked my view of the salad bar and did not seem to mind it at all. It will be very unfortunate, especially for such a high potential food place, if management fails to remind them of proper conduct during operating hours. Other than this, I would still consider coming back.

Yum! Food here is great, service is great. Nothing to complain about. BBQ Chicken Sandwich — I was impressed! I didn’t think it was going to be that great, honestly. But I could definitely taste the bacon and onion crisps in this sandwich. Garlic & Basil Chicken Sandwich — My boyfriend ordered this, and I didn’t taste it. But he said that everything was fresh — avocados, tomatoes, lettuce, chicken. Although it is a tad bit pricey in my opinion for a sandwich, it still seems like a healthier option than Taco Bell, Chick fil A, or Panda Express.

What was once a very upscale food court in Fashion Island, a most upscale mall, is no more. The sushi bar? Gone. The wine bar? Ditto. The fab salad bar in the deli area? Kaput, and what’s taken the place of all of this is most unimpressive. I don’t generally think of Newport Beach housing side-by-side Taco Bell, Chick-Fil-A, and Panda Express but there they are. Upscale food court memories be damned. Still, I come. Old habits die hard. Last time I was here I tried Hana and proclaimed their Chicken Bowl(when enhanced via the well-stocked condiment bar) a decent choice. This time, Mama and I gave our business to Stone Oven, a chain I’d noticed others favorably Unilocaling about in other locations. And hey, what d’ya know? Stone Oven makes a great salad. Before choosing, Mama walked slowly around the court, assessing the offerings. She lingered a little too long assessing Chick-Fil-A’s menu(who knew they had salads?) before I steered her onward saying«we don’t patronize that place and its misguided values». At Panda she asked me to steer her away; she remembered her last meal there and recalled that it looked better than it tasted. So Stone Oven it was and all I really have to say is that they make a delicious BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad and an equally good Southwest Chicken Caesar Salad(both are around $ 10). I’ve had a Jack-in-the-Box version of a salad similar to the Southwest Caesar and this, which is admittedly more expensive, is leaps and bounds better. And the fact that each salad is topped by some extremely tasty, fresh, hot bread just makes it all the better. Mama was still remarking on her salad the day after our visit. She wants to go back and this time she feels no need to survey the other offerings. If you want a good salad down in this food court, look no further than Stone Oven.
