North Shore Shave Ice

Super sweet little lady let my kids try as many flavors as they wanted to try. Great ice cream (I chose strawberry and pistachio), and only a few steps away from the sandy beach. High recommend this spot. We might go again today!

The woman working was so nice and was willing to give out samples of the unique toppings and flavors they offered. Walked in wanting shaved ice, walked out with a banana smoothie and butter pecan ice cream for only $ 6.50. Both delicious and very cheap! Will for sure go back again. Only downside is they close at 7 during winter hours.

Barbara was amazing we were a group of four adults, a teenager and to kids, she was pleasant, very tentative with a smile that never left her face… The ice cream was great with a lot of our favorite flavors. This was my first visit but I will be visiting every time I am in the area…

My experience is as follows.
Walked in, no customers around.
Proceed to give my order to the lady behind counter.
She rudely barks at me telling me it will be A WHILE! .
I say excuse me. She again with a condescending shrilly voice says IT WILL BE A WHILE BEFORE I CAN TAKE YOUR ORDER!
Then turns her back to me.

Amazing ice cream, the BEST frozen chocolate covered bananas with toppings… and most importantly… the FRIENDLIEST service. You have to visit!

love, love me some shaved ice cream. this place is no exception. They have it all.

I do deliveries for postmates. Your orders are filled quickly and accurately. In the winter there is plenty of parking. In the summer, I have to park about one block away in the public parking or about two or three blocks away on the street and walk.

Had their shaved ice with red beans, tiger blood/​mango/​piña colada flavor with snow cap. Good. Red beans on bottom with huge mound of shaved ice, soaked in 1 – 3 flavors of syrup. Snow cap topping is a condensed milk and half and half mixture. I was looking for more of a traditional Asian Shaved ice, but this was a little bit of a Asian/​snow cone fusion. You could pick a different filler like ice cream (8 – 10 different flavor options) or lychee instead of red bean. There are 20 plus flavors for syrup to pick from. As well as 6 different toppings, including Snow cap.
Close to the beach. 2 tables inside and couple chairs outside. No bathroom.

My friends and I were craving ice cream after our beach day at Newport. After some Unilocaling, we stumbled upon this place. This place was similar to some of the shaved ice spots I’ve tried in Hawaii. I ordered the la lakers combo (customer favorite) which came with boysenberry, mango, pineapple, vanilla ice cream and condensed milk. For a small size, it came out to be $ 4.25 (no tax!). The nice thing is, if you check in on Unilocal,you can get another item free! My friend got a chocolate dipped banana with «the works» which is all the toppings combined for like $ 3. For being so close to the beach, the prices are pretty reasonable. My shaved ice was really refreshing and not too sweet. The lady at the store was helpful and packed a lot of ice into the cup. I could have probably just gotten the kids size which is a dollar less. Anyways I wouldn’t drive all the way just to come here, but would definitely stop by again if I’m in the area.

Just make sure you hit North Shore up while in Newps! We always get our shaved ice with a filler (vanilla soft serve ice cream) and the snow cap on top (sweetened condensed milk.)
Favorite flavors are Tigers blood and butterscotch. I just had my shaved ice and I already want another.

Service was fast and friendly.
Would have loved a straw in the shave ice considering the high temps outside but I was able to consume pretty quickly anyway!

This is one of the best hidden spots on the peninsula. It’s right off of the beach by the Newport Pier. Everything is super cheap and the workers are super friendly. It’s just about the best shaved ice that you can get in Newport Beach. I ordered a shaved ice with froyo under it and condensed milk on top. I opted for strawberry kiwi but they have a ton of other options, even sugar free! There’s so much more than shaved ice… needless to say North Shore Shaved Ice is a great place to stop for an affordable afternoon sweet!

We rented a beach house for the week right next door to North Shore Shave Ice. My three daughters and I came here everyday for our yummy treat. My favorite is grape, watermelon, and tigers blood. The ladies that worked here were all really nice and sweet. Oh-​and they serve Thrifty ice cream which is the best in my opinion!

A little hard to find but well worth the parking lot nightmare to get there. Small little store that sells true Hawaii shave ice, ice cream, and dipped treats. We got two very large shaved ice with ice cream and multiple toppings for just over $ 4. Got a great deal as there was a buy one get 1 deal on their Unilocal page. Girl helping us was very nice and helpful.
With the location being so close to the pier on Newport Beach and with the number of tourists in the area, this truly is a steal. I would come here daily if I lived in the area. Try the chocolate dipped bananas, they seemed to be a fan favorite.

You don’t need to go to hawaii for very fine shaved ice! This hidden gem in newport beach is just as good or even better! The staff is very friendly and they have a lot of flavors to choose from! Will definitely be back.

Their staff are very sweet people and extremely patient. They’re also very accommodating and will tailor your drink or ice cream or shaved ice to however you want. They’re also super clean and wash their hands before handling anything.
Prices are very reasonable, too!

Lovin the piña colada shaved ice

I’ve never had such amazing shaved ice! The owner is way nice too. Love the soft serve ice cream underneath. Every time we come to Newport Beach, we have to come here. We usually order two large shaved ice and share between the four of us.
We recommend the Root Beer Float and LA Laker Show. It’s all good though! This is a hidden gem!
We’ll be coming back hopefully for many many years!
