the shop is a randomly closed several times during the day as the owner decides to go surfing and leave his customers hanging. You can’t trust the hours it says the shop is open because it’s completely random and inaccurate. I called and drove by from 4 –7 and the shop was locked up even though it was supposed to be open until 7. I found out that the owner just randomly takes off several times during the day and hours surfing. So if you happen to turn something in for repair and you got lucky abd caught the shop open, good luck trying to get your stuff back! this is not a business this is somebody’s hobby that doesn’t care anything about customer service and you. I’ll never bring anything there.

Really great shop! I broke down near by and walked my bike over. He fixed my bike no questions asked and didn’t even charge me. I would highly recommend this shop.

Jason the owner is the man. Kind hearted, friendly and eager to help with anything! His bike Shop has an assortment of bikes to choose from and he’s extremely passionate about his business. I busted my surfboard across the street at the beach, had never met him, and he took my board and had it fixed in less than a week at a price I couldn’t have found better. I would recommend him to help with any issues in the Newport and HB area. He’s the perfect example of a great person looking to help others. We need more people like him in our society.

So, I ride daily, averaging about 30 miles, every day. I’ve ridden some of the best cycles built over the last four decades, and this guy ‘Pit’, has inventoried, in a shoe box of a spot, rare vintage rides that are unreal. Trying to get him to part with one ain’t easy, I’m telling you. If you dare step through the doorway, and survey the goods, you would find iconic, period correct racers with near complete choice gruppos, and a a few legendary American cruisers and touring bikes. This place is for real and the new cat who owns the shop is a legit mechanic, with a conscious, and a local following. While I was negotiating with him, a woman walked up, handed him $ 6 she said she owed from 8 months ago for fixing a bike she borrowed from a friend while here studying from abroad. I’m not making this up, I will be dropping in to support this shop no question. I’d ask riders to do the same. Timoshammer

You know, this place have saved me about $ 400 in car key replacements if Jason didn’t find my set of keys buried halfway in the sand! He went above and beyond to find out who I was and how to contact me. and he did. He literally saved my life. Funny thing is I was in the market for a street bike(not a beach crusier) and he recommended to me a couple of the ones he had. He also has really nice and clean used ones. I am grabbing myself one soon! Thank you Jason :) I owe ya a beer.

Jason is the best person to rent bikes from! Awesome attitude and was great at getting the baby seat set up for me. He was really great with my son & put his helmet on for him too. We will be back soon!

We love Jason! I called at least 10 bike shops to rent a road bike and Newport Velo was the only one to rent from! Me and my sister were doing a triathlon and are newbie riders, so Jason helped us learn to ride for about 2 hours in his lot. So happy to have found this place for our tune ups and future triathlons. Jason is the friendliest guy and always there to help! We loved his dog Also! Thanks Jason!

We had a great experience with this bike shop. The owner Jason was very chill. We called right when he was getting ready to close shop and he hooked us up with a couple of bikes. We used them for a few hours, but I guess you can keep the bike for 24 hrs when you rent for the price. This is great to know for anyone staying over night in the area. Next time we go out we will for sure go back. Thanks Jason.

Man I lost my wallet on the 4th of july and luckily Jason found and returned it to me even though he didn’t have to… Definitely one of the raddest and honest guys in Newport Beach. If you got any bicycle issues bring it by his shop and he will help you out jus like he helped me.

Stopped in with a flat tire on my morning ride looking for a pump to find the hole in my road bike tire. They were closed when I arrived but the owner happened to be there when I showed up. I already had a tire but he helped me out anyways and even waited around even though he was on his way out. He he sells bikes as well as carries tons of parts for road bikes and beach cruisers. Great experience!

My friend and I were biking from HB to Newport and my friend got a flat. Jason of Newport Velo was the closest place for us to see if they had tools to replace the innertube. Jason, the owner was kind to change the innertube and even taught my friend how to change it properly since he this was his first flat. He didn’t charge us but we tipped him for his generocity. I would recommend this place as a friendly place to rent bikes or kindly ask to see if he can fix minor problems. Thanks Jason.

I was out riding my brand new townie bike today and I got a flat. Luckily this shop was only a mile and ½ from where I was so I walked my bike there. When I showed up the guy was super helpful; reasonably priced and got me back on my way quickly. He also made some better adjustments on my bike and he provided some good tips! Overall great shop and friendly service!

Jason, you totally saved the day for my buddy Rafa aka 80sfreak. We ran over glass by the 405 cycling on the bike path. You went out of your way to our recuse. Even being Easter Sunday at 8:45am shop was open, and you went out of your way to help us. Very knowledgable and checked out my cruiser for glass and made some adjustments. Plus he is very friendly and approachable. Thank you Jason :) you rock i

A place where you can get any bike worked on without any judgment. I’ve worked in many shops and wrenched and I was impressed with Jason’s knowledge and attitude. Has old school stuff and more than reasonable pricing. If you are looking for a humble shop with a good mechanic and no attitude, this is it.

My husband and I found Newport Velo after driving all the way to North Huntington Beach to a big box bike shop. We were promised they could handle repairing a childs bike. After traveling from NB and experiencing big disappointment when they could not handle the repair we took a chance and stopped by this smaller bike shop, Newport Velo. Jason welcomed us at the front door as well as his friendly dog. He made the repair and our child is back on her bike. This isn’t your traditional bike shop, but Jason knows bikes! Jason had us up and running within 24 hours. We will be taking our beach cruiser for maintenance.

Limited selection and strange hours, so why give this place five star? The store is overflowing with cool classic rigs, and the head mechanic is very knowledgeable about his craft. He will negotiate a fair price on old parts, or do a very equitable trade, as I am a fan of bartering this works well for me. They store dog is all bark and no bite, so don’t worry when she comes running at you. This shop is a great place to stop mid ride f you need a quick flat repair, a bolt tightened or you are in the market for a cool vintage bike. Velo isn’t contracted with major companies, they don’t necessarily stock the best and newest stuff, but what they do do is provide great service, and selection of hard to find built out bikes and parts. Just make sure to call ahead as sometimes the mechanic will take a midday surf break when the waves are good.
