Decided on this property for a short«staycation» Issues started at check in. We were offered a room in the 3 story building, with a patio next to the secondary pool. Room was dark, smelled of mold, and felt like a dungeon. Called front desk and we were then offered a room on the 7th floor, with a view of the roof. We opted for this room, had to be better than the first. We were pleasantly surprised by the room, and, if you looked«out» rather than«down», we had a beautiful view of BackBay and the Ocean. Service was the next issue. Went to the one and only restaurant on the property, and the two servers had their hands full. Once we were sat, the service was better and the food good. Service at the pool was non existent, and the pool bartender ranked about a «0» on the personality scale. After a full day at the pool, returned to our room about 4pm to find it not cleaned yet. Called from desk, said normal, they have until 5pm to clean. Asked for towels, front advised will be sent up, never showed. When housekeeping did get there, we just asked that she tidy bathroom, I had already made the bed. Satellite provider was horrible, and there was 2 channels that actually worked, without static. Netflix a no go as well. Only positive: VALETS. they were friendly, courteous, and just plain nice. On checkout we asked to speak to the Manager, to give our comments verbally. He was busy with another guest, that apparently needed 20 minutes of his attention, so we completed check out and advised clerk we would review on Unilocal instead. Clerk did give us free Valet parking, which we objected to as we were not looking for a «free ride». I told her ironically, it was the only service worth paying for! We will not return here. disappointing for a Marriott.

I like staying at this location. They cater to their guests, rooms are spacious and the spa is so nice to visit. Sauna, steam room that has eucalyptus pine smell, salt water jucuzzi. The bistro is decent, good service and drinks. Love the beds and pillows.

The place is located at the nice Fashion Island… but the staff were rude. Everything else being the same, they(staff) provided services to the others but refused it to us!

So here on a work conference to fine tune/refresh my sales and customer experience skills. I’m a very faithful Marriott brand customer(Elite on reward program) and quite frankly they disappoint here. A/C barely functional, no HBO or cable(think Super 8 channels, can’t order a movie etc.) and I find a better room service menu choice(it’s a 2 ph brochure) in my fridge at home. Bottom line: Not Up To The Marriott Standard. 4 stars classification a massive stretch. Have a hard time giving a 3 here. Miss my Denver Cherry Creek JW Marriott in comparison. Given this place is in Newport Beach, it’s not up to snuff.

It was a nice view, friendly and helpful staff, nothing super memorable though and of course all of the extra surprise fees at the end. Would probably stay here again though.

Location is good but getting around the hotel is confusing. There is an atrium which feels very dated. The room was large, but no balcony. Just a window that slides open. One morning I called to have my room cleaned soon because I knew I’d be out for a while and wanted it clean when I got back so I could work. I returned to my room at 3:30 and it was still dirty. Disappointing. The spa was nice and I got a great massage. It was a little too cool for the pool, but the pool is huge with lots of chairs. Next to the pool is a garden area where they have group functions daily so that’s always going on. For the money just ok. Nothing special.

This is the second time I’ve stayed here for a business trip and it’s great. Great location for shopping, eating and nearby the beach. There is a splash pad for the kids and the pool is right next to it so you can watch them. As we were checking in they gave my 4 year old a small beach ball. Matthew Harrison was the front desk person that checked us out and he was very personable and helpful with answering any questions we had. The hotel is very spread out but we stayed in the main building. This was nice and easy if you want to take advantage of the Concierge. A lot of the other parts are rooms with doors that open up to the outside. All the views are great with the golf course, pool or ocean. I look forward to returning on our next business trip.

The service and welcome that we received was excellent. The location is great. Close to a major shopping centre and a good walk to the beach. We literally walked across the road to the shopping centre The shopping centre is the home to many high end stores. The main pool and spa area was very clean. We tried the smaller pool but found the spa not working. The room was small, not very much room between the end of the bed and the television. Two people could not stand abreast between the bed end and table area that had the television. The room was clean The bathroom felt as though it had been recently remodeled, although it did not have a tub The carpet must have also recently been replace as there was chemical odor which greeted us as we entered. It was not overwhelming and was not noticed when we opened the door and sat on the small balcony and enjoyed the sunshine. I would return happily. The one downer was the parking fee.

Great Newport Beach hotel steps from the fantastic Fashion Island. I have stayed at Marriott’s all over the U.S. repeatedly for business travel and this location is quite a few steps above any I’ve stayed at. Close to the beach and everything Newport Beach and quaint Corona Del Mar have to offer. Perfect for that special occasion or even if your local and need a quick change of pace from primary residence.

I write this review from the coziest bed I have ever slept in. This bed is seriously so comfortable that I don’t mind the occasional airplane from SNA or the trucks backing up and beeping outside my window. Those really are the only downfalls to this hotel, and they aren’t much. The rest of the amenities more than make up for these tiny inconveniences. The staff are very friendly — but not overly so. Nothing feels forced, and they seem genuinely happy to see you. There’s a Starbucks inside, so if you can’t afford the room service, you can just walk downstairs to have your fancy pants latte. My husband is here for a conference(and I’m tagging along as The Doctor’s Wife) and he has said that the conference space was a nice size: he keeps running into people he knows in the industry, and it’s been pleasant for him. Fashion Island is right across the street and I’ve noticed there’s actually free parking on the street right outside, after 6pm on weekdays… So this hotel is really a good deal!

This is a step above most Marriotts, so very comfortable and accommodating to be here. There are two towers here, and I don’t know if there is a Concierge lounge in both towers. We had a two room suite on the 8th floor, so an easy elevator ride to the 12th floor Concierge lounge in our tower. I am a Platinum member, so get Concierge lounge access, and breakfast buffet included when lounge is closed, though it is only for«continental» breakfast. Hot breakfast in the restaurant is + $ 8/person…still worth it. I didn’t have the opportunity to use the Concierge lounge during the evening. Breakfast one day was fine with plenty of options. Meeting rooms(I was here for a conference) were well maintained, and comfortable. Catered events were great. Restaurant was the weak link, from my perspective. Quality of food was fair at best, with the exception of the chicken dish, and their salads. Service was unprofessional, and they need better training. I should not have to ask for bread service, bread plates, and it would be nice to see my server return to check on us at least once during the meal. I’d stay here again, and dine off-site for my evening meals!

This is our second stay here and we just love this place. Here is what makes this place special: 1. The building and grounds: the building itself from the outside looks a little dated but the inside and rooms are fully modernized. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The grounds are nice with almost a tropical feel to them. The concierge suite for elite members is first class although the drinks are pricey. 2. Golf and tennis: I don’t golf but my wife plays tennis. 3. Shopping: it’s right across the street from Nordstroms and Fashion Island. So dangerous ha ha. Fashion Island is over the top big and opulent but so OC. You could spend a whole weekend there if you are a shopaholic. 4. Close to the beach: it’s a short drive to Newport Beach. It’s a nice walk from the pier to the jetty where the famous surfing area called«The Wedge» is located. It’s known for big waves and epic wipeouts. 5. Traffic: everything is close so you won’t have to deal too much with the abysmal OC traffic. If you have to drive, try to avoid the commute hours but traffic can be 24÷7÷365 especially I405. 6. Service: I have stayed at Marriotts all over the world and a gold elite member for many years. This place is in the top 3 Marriotts in the world with regard to service and overall experience. They automatically upgraded to a suite this stay. Normally you have to ask and then they seem annoyed. In this price range, you won’t find a better hotel with world class service in Newport Beach. The perfect romantic getaway or family vacation. Check it out.

My husband and I went to a marriage retreat and to celebrate our anniversary there. We stayed in room 844. It was such a wonderful experience. Everyone was so professional(with the exception of one guy in valet parking). For the most part everyone was very accommodating. We would get asked if we needed directions or suggestions to popular local places. The hotel in itself is beautiful and very clean. It was breath taking to wake up to such a beautiful view. We’re looking forward to staying there next year.

This by far is one of my favorite hotels to work with. We hosted our wedding anniversary party here a while ago. The catering team, Amber & Brandon, were outstanding to work with. After having such a disastrous experience with our hotel for our wedding — I was a bit scarred from the experience. I voiced my concerns about where the ball was dropped by the previous hotel we worked with. While I understand nothing can ever go perfectly with an event, I do expect excellent service when your paying for a hotel service charge. The staff was professional, courteous and absolutely friendly every visit we popped in to meet with the catering team to discuss more event details. I never felt rushed out during our meetings, or like any requests — small or large — were being treated without keen attention. They did a wonderful job and not only did it show to us, but all of our guests had such a wonderful and positive experience here. Keep up the awesome work guys!

We have been here many times over the past 5 years. Consistent good service. The location of this Marriott is perfect with Fashion Island Center across the street. A short walk brings you to many different shopping and dining options.

The location is perfect, you can walk to many restaurants and shopping. Ive been in the hotel many times in the last 20 years. First time staying here. My room had a SW view towards CDM, where I used to live, could see the palm trees that lines my street in the distance. The hotel has been renovated over the years as I sure it has been there for 30+. Some minor little things, but enjoyable. Love all the tax’s, like $ 50 for 2 nights…

So when booked our reservation a little over a week before, they claimed to not have received the forms i sent in for our stay. Then they gave us a room that we did not request, what was advertised when making our reservations was a suite with a living room and a separate bedroom. They put us in a room that only had a king bed and no living room. Super annoyed because this is my birthday vacation, definitely not worth paying $ 722.14 for 2 night smdh!!! The view is beautiful, but the service is not the greatest. We requested the champagne that came with our stay and it took them over a few hours. And the robes that were supposed to be in our room upon arrival weren’t here either… Our breakfast came to $ 57.32 for 2 people and it had absolutely had nooooo flavor, i was highly dissatisfied. They gave us ripped up robes that look like peasant rags! Now 60% through our trip they really show that they dont want us here and locked our room for a over due balance of $ 40. Why not address that while we are checking out? I felt discriminated against and racial profiled and now im questioning my stay until our original check out due to the hostile environment. Smh racism is still alive!!!

After long flight and drive from LA, finally made it to the hotel. First impression they hotel seemed nice from outside. As I went in the staff at the door reception and matter of fact every staff I came across was very friendly and always greeted me with a smile. The check in process was very quick and hassle free. The staff showed me the way as the buildings were on the side wings of the hotel. Made it into my room and I have to say it was quite good. The room was very clean and my stay was for 4 days, the cleaning staff did their job well and the room was always clean each and every day. The mattress and pillows were so good and great for a good sleep. The selection of cable channels were good as well. The other thing I liked was in the lamp beside the bed there 2 connection, one for USB and other fro regular switch so it was easy to charge multiple electronics. My safe in the room was not working and when I told the reception, they were very prompt to send in the technician right away and fix it them and there. The main areas of the hotels were very good, they have nice seating areas, clean washroom and water fountains. The pool area was good and they also had lime or Orange slices flavored cold water near the reception for drinking. There is a Starbucks and a mini market shop on site. The Market sells stamps and the reception can mail the post cards for people who sends them. Now the place where they lost a star was the Wifi/Internet is at extra cost and there are no shuttles to and from the airport. The wifi connection is good. The other good thing is that the Fashion Island mall is just across the street and has good choices for food. There are cabs always parked outside the hotel.

Good ol’ Marriott doesn’t disappoint again. Located perfectly next to Fashion Island, and about a 3 minutes drive to the water, this hotel was great. Extremely clean, impeccable service, and great view!
