It may not look like much but this place literally makes the best sandwich in newport beach. Being from the east coast I know my deli sandwiches and this place makes them the way they should be made! The bread rolls are amazing and the deli meat is premium quality. Super friendly service too!

There is no better sandwich for the price in Newport Beach. You wouldn’t think a sandwich from a liquor store would be delicious, and fresh, but it is! Every single time. The turkey plus sandwich is the best deal in town. Turkey with cheese and avocado and of course any topping you want! I always get lettuce sprouts tomato, peppercinis and pickles in mine. The sandwich is the size of my head and it comes with aside and a pickle spear. Yum! This place is such a staple for lunch! For 6.75 it can’t be beat!

Great sammiches!!! I ordered a half turkey plus sammy & split pea soup. Both were excellent. My coworker got a pastrami sandwich and raved about it non stop after eating. I bet he’ll mention it at least a couple more times today. Super friendly staff too. Highly recommended!

First off. The Sandwiches are good when they get the order right. Unfortunately we order for delivery to the office and the order is very specific on what is on and with each sandwich. They then wrap an open pickle inside the sandwich and when we called and complained about this, the lady apologized and made sure of our address. We thought ok they’ll send out a new sandwich. Then the gentleman that said he was the owner called us back and I explained that I really couldn’t stand pickles and that it soaked through the paper and all over the sandwich, he responded with«is it really that bad»? Yeah it is that bad when you can’t stand even the smell of pickles. We were ordering 1 to 2 times a week. So for an «owner» whom wanted us to tell our customers about their new delivery promotion, I guess it would cost them too much money to fix their foul-up. It really is a shame. I WILLNOT be telling anyone about minute king. Nor will my office be ordering from here again. So in closing, over $ 7.00 for a small bag of chips that you would send with your child to go with their lunch. Thanks minute king!

This place is a godsend! I’ve lived closer to bars, but never so close to a liquor store. King’s is usually well stocked and the prices are competitive with other liquor stores in the area. Not too many specials but the customer service makes up for it — I was a regular within a week here. Their deli sandwiches were great the two times I had them, but usually if I am going to King’s it is for a bottle of booze. If you can’t get to Von’s or Pavillion’s, their grocery section will get you by in a bind.

Its a liquor store yes… but the sandwiches there are 4.50 ready made in a cooler? much better then a subway. and Ive had garlic pesto wraps with provolone and turkey. awesome! also had roast beef and mozzarella on wheat. they use rye bred and squaw and for a show up grab and go… not bad! 5 stars for killing subway lol, easy parking, close by and being better then I expected! the guy at night is a nice guy too. …If you get the chance read the one below about the Gluten free girl who is pissed off she didnt get a salad there. Do this princess walk into 50 liquor stores and see how much Gluten free opportunities you have. If you want gluten free go to that isle at the market that no one goes to and follow the flies and nats till you see your little section!

Sandwiches are just ok. Also, I suggest having a half Sammy as opposed to a full.

AWFULEXPERIENCE!!! I was having lunch with some friends and they wanted to come here for sandwiches. Since I have to eat gluten free, I figured I would just get a salad, but they REFUSED to make a salad. The lady claimed it was lunch hour and they were busy(um NO) and my only option was a tiny side salad from the case. That was not acceptable, so I left. NEVERGOHERE.

Mac & Cheese and a meatball. The most hearty food on one plate. King is an awesome little gem in Costa Mesa. The food is super delicious and the liquor store that its in has a great selection of everything. Its about 1 mile from my work, so it makes it really easy for a lunch run. The prices are moderate for food, but totally worth it.

I live very close by. I really like this place! Reasons why I heart this place — 1. The Deli: If I get off work early enough, I can get my favorite Turkey Sandwich w/pepper jack cheese and extra spicy mustard on their delicious squaw bread. They also have good soups and homemade sides. 2. The variety: Better than 7 – 11! If you need it, they have it. I have bought everything from deodorant to Airborne there. 3. Good wine selection! Usually I mistrust liquor stores about their wine quality, but I have never bought a bottle of wine that has gone bad here before. And they have a huge selection chardonnays and whites here; which is freshing. 4. The service: everyone there is speedy and nice. Mom and Pop feel to the place. 5. The prices: Definitely competitive! Not over the top like some liquor stores! I only wish that the deli was open later!

I LOVE the sandwiches here. Elizabeth behind the counter makes them just how I like them. I like a good turkey and swiss with lettuce, dry, on rye bread. Infinite noms. And for a solid price too, such a great deal for the quality of sandwich you receive. Tons of soda and chip selections to go with your sandwich. It can get pretty busy here during the lunch hours. So if you are on a tight schedule or just don’t like having to wait then I suggest you call your order in ahead of time. But make sure you know what you want! And if you’re ordering a crap load of sandwiches now how each person wants their sandwich before you call. I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve had to wait on being rung up because Mo behind the register gets tied up with some moron on the phone who has no idea how to order food or function in a society. Hahah Mo is the best, I love that man.
