Excellent fresh fish, the chefs are friendly and creative. If you sit at the sushi bar and ask what’s special for the day, or what they recommend, frequently they will dream up something new for you. Highly recommend the tator tot roll and the shrimp boat. This is my go to sushi spot. At lunch it is a lot less crowded, dinner time can be busy.

Super friendly staff and delicious food. They have a lot of really creative and interesting specials. We love coming here for lunch hour. The parking lot is kind of a nightmare though with all the construction going on next door.

UPDATE: We came back to 930 Sushi and had an excellent experience. They have revised the happy hour menu with a good variety of sushi, rolls, appetizers, sake and wine. The happy hour is 5 – 7 everyday. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. The general manager had messaged me from my previous review and invited us to come back and try the new hh menu. He was very kind and gracious and gave us a free round of drinks and appetizer. The restaurant is very clean. Well decorated and has ample parking. We will definitely be coming back. The food is always excellent and has great flavor. The sushi is always very fresh tasting.

I think they are overly compensating in their customer service. It was overbearing and a bit contrived. Better than the opposite, to be sure, but a little annoying. Besides this, the sushi was pretty bad. I had to spit out 2 entire pieces of nigiri into my napkin(one toro and the other the salmon with miso glaze) for their taste. Lost my appetite after that and left four pieces of nigiri for the gods.

I’ve been coming here for over 3 years and always have a great experience. I gave this place 4 stars b/c the prices are higher than some other sushi locations. However, they do have great happy hour everyday and the Sushi is De-lic-ious. Plus… the sushi chefs are awesome with great suggestions catered to everyone’s palate. My personal favorites are the yellowtail sashimi, tater-tot roll and 930 roll. Yummy!

My coworkers and I decided to try this place based on the reviews and we’re glad we gave it a try! Ken at the sushi bar was very personable and gave us directions to go to the pier afterwards. The service was also amazing! The owner even came around to ask how our meal was going. This place is very pricy, but service outweighs this. One roll I ordered was $ 17. I recommend ordering from the happy hour menu, much more reasonably priced.

In a nutshell, the food here is mediocre, some rolls and fish are better than others, but the service is exceptional. They didn’t have a lot of things that we wanted, such as live shrimp, oysters(we were told they were the last of the bunch and probably not fresh), and a bunch of other things my uncle requested, so they were a bit disappointed at the lack of selection. Food we ordered: Crunchy Roll: Offered at arrigatou hour, so it was only $ 3.50 or something like that. Definitely worth it. It was good and crunchy. Toro: This was also good and fresh tasting, but it was also MP, so who knows how much you’re paying for it the day you come in Uni: I’m not an uni lover, but this was good and also tasted fresh Ono: This was really good. My first time having it. It was really buttery and tasted fresh Summer Roll: I liked this one. It was very light and refreshing and low carb too! 930 roll: This was ok. Nothing special about it, but it was one of the healthier things on the menu if you’re watching your blood pressure or carb intake Mackeral: Too salty. Don’t get this. It was WAY overly salty. Like it was marinated in ocean water Salmon: Didn’t taste super fresh but was edible Tuna: Didn’t taste super fresh, but I didn’t have any issues eating it Mochi: Small portions but good Tempura banana with ice cream: This was really good. If you have room for dessert and don’t mind fried bananas, this is worth your while Lobster Crispy Rice: I’d pass on this. It was covered in some sauce that I did not care for an you could barely taste the lobster since it was pretty much all sauce. For $ 12, I’d rather not have ordered it Miso Soup: My uncle didn’t like it so much he didn’t even finish it, and he’s a human garbage disposal. We ordered a bunch of other things, but they were not very memorable. This was more of a 3.5 star place for me, but I’ll round up for the really good service we had. The food is more like 3 stars, but an extra star for the service. The waitress was on top of drink refills and coming back to see if we wanted to order anything else. She even gave a 2 minute warning about the arrigatou hour ending(it’s from 5PM-7PM), which was a nice touch. Arrigatou Hour is 50% off select rolls(spicy tuna roll, crunchy roll, etc) and sushi(tuna, salmon, etc) and $ 3.95 for draft beer and hot safe and $ 5.95 for house wine. This restaurant is a little on the pricey end being in Newport Beach and all, but if you have money to blow, go for it.

Excellent service, great quality sushi, decent prices, what more can you ask for? I was thoroughly pleased with my experience that I came here two weekends in a row! Every single thing we had was delicious. Unsure of what to get, we asked the manager Felipe for recommendations. He would ask us if we like sashimi or if we can handle spicy, etc, and then helped us pick what was most suitable for us. The crispy rice dish was one of the dishes that stood out. So unique and different! The stuffed peppers and sashimi salads were also delicious. To end our meal, we got the tempura ice cream. Their 930 martini is a great drink. Overall, we had a wonderful experience here and can’t wait to come back. Don’t hesitate to give them a try!

We’ve been back a couple of times in the last few weeks. We’ve been loving it! Everything seems very fresh and tastes great. The sushi chefs are nice. They play EDM music, which I find a bit odd. Happy to put this into our rotation.

Fake crab and old Sashimi– beware! We were amazed that this is a highly rated Sushi Restaurant in Newport Beach. The Geisha Roll has what they call«Real and Mixed Crab» when I asked what that means the waitress explained its mixed with white fish– which explains why it looked like fake crab– are you serious? The tuna was not fresh and although we didn’t eat more than one piece of it, the waitress didn’t notice or ask how it was when she cleared the nearly full plate away. We ordered Sesame Chicken for my mother-in– law since she doesn’t eat raw fish and it was literally canned chicken deep fried and around some edges burned. That we sent back. The Sake selection was mediocre at best. We live in the Central Valley where we are served fish caught daily from all over the world, so we are even more surprised that in a high end community such as Newport Beach, surrounded by fresh fish this restaurant would be considered acceptable by any standards.

Good quality sushi but overpriced. The special roll was great but no price on the menu so watch out. Sauces need improvement but great rice and fish quality.

Trendy. Smallest hand rolls I’ve ever seen. The paper outweighed the fish inside my hand roll. More of a place to tell people you hang out at than a sushi place that does justice to Japanese cuisine. Plus is there’s a Mickey D’s nearby in case the ¼ lb of seaweed hasn’t filled you up.
