Yummy!!! I think that’s all I need to say lol. I ordered the chicken and waffles and it truly was an explosion of flavor in my mouth. It was sooooo delicious, juicy, filling, and amazing. It is a hole in the wall place in the back of a building on the Berlin turnpike. It was pretty crowded when we went which was to be expected considering how popular it is. You actually get seated and then have to go up and place your order and then your food is delivered to you. A little strange, but it didn’t bother me. It’s also cash only so plan on that.

I just had the best waffle of my life at this cute little place! I highly recommend«the sloppy.»

If this place was in a southern city the line would be down the Berlin Turnpike. Because lobster rolls are king in New England people don’t value this type cuisine like they should. Sloppy Waffles have great choices on their menu(which needs a little visual revamping). The chicken is organic and gluten free upgrade is an option. Omelette, sandwiches and pancakes are also offered, but why you do that?

The waffle is made of dough, not batter, so it was both more dense and sweeter than you’d expect. It was our first time here, so we tried some of their signature dishes. I got the chicken and waffles: the chicken was cooked perfectly and the savory flavor played off of the sweet waffle nicely. My boyfriend got the sloppy waffle, and really liked it too. The food is the redeeming quality here. The atmosphere and semi-service was strange.

First time here. Very good place for breakfast and brunch. We ordered an omelette and speculoos liege waffle. The latter was AWESOME! Highly recommended if you ever crave for Belgian Liege waffle.

3.5 stars! Tucked in the back of the building. Indoor and outdoor seating. Order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. We got the sloppy waffle and the spicy chicken sandwich. Hot sauce is not really that spicy although I was forewarned. Food was good though. Waffle wasn’t bad although needed more syrup which is easy to fix. I enjoyed the chicken the most. Well seasoned and breaded. The home fries were not the best as they were reminiscent of mashed potatoes. I would opt for the homemade potato chips instead. Would come back for more chicken

Good quality… but poor value for the $$$$. Too bad they can’t fit something between very good food and value… portions tiny. No credit cards… only cash absurd this day and age.

I rarely get an opportunity to go out for breakfast in the Newington area(but of course, fellow Unilocalers, tell me if I’m missing out!), but we did this time, and we checked out the Sloppy Waffle. So let’s start with the appearance — yes, it’s a total hole in the wall, and you wouldn’t know it was there unless you were looking for it. It’s tucked away behind a hair salon the Berlin Tpke and it has a small private lot. Like everyone else has said, this place is ***CASHONLY*** but there is an ATM right by the door. You are seated by a hostess but you are supposed to go and order the counter. There is an array of sweet Belgain waffles to choose from and then of course large breakfast items to eat as well. I love me some sweet AND savory, so I got the bacon waffle which is served with a side of home fries. The waffle itself is pretty good, but not the exact texture I would’ve wanted it to be. It was a little on the soggy side rather than having a crunchy exterior. The chopped bacon was a nice touch, and much better than the idea of having huge strips on top of a little waffle. The home fries were not to my liking and were too mushy. Next time, I definitely want to try more of the sweeter concoctions!

wait, I haven’t written a review for sloppy waffle yet?! Okay let’s rectify this. so first off, the reviews that say the place is a bit of a dive, agreed. seating is all over the place, there is dust on things, menus are broken and the semi-service is weird. so if you’re looking for fine dining this is not the place for you. the food is the main draw though. tons of toppings you can have with a dense waffle covered in what I could only guess is carmalized sugar. chicken ‘n waffles, PB&J waffles, sloppy waffles, fresh fruit and crème waffles, all of it tastes very good and I am always finding myself wanting to try more of their menu. they have a very good bread too, kind of an italian flavor with a sourdough or potato bread consistency. I often bring a loaf home to toast up for a sandwhich or for breakfast for the next few days(loaves are not small, but they don’t last long in the house). people there are nice, you grab a menu and seat yourselves, then go up to order, then a server delivers your food. everyone is quick to answer questions and they all want to ensure you are having a good experience. I dock it a star for cleanliness but in terms of taste it is a diamond in the rough. worth a shot if you’re in the area.

Places like this rarely live up to the hype for me. You think, it’s a dive, the food HAS to be good. No, apparently, it doesn’t HAVE to be anything. Upon entering, I was immediately struck by just how disgusting the place looked. It’s downright dirty. The carpets are filthy, the walls and baseboards are covered in dirt, filth, goo. I was trying not to take pictures of other diners, but managed to get one shot of some of the baseboard areas. If you own a restaurant, take pride in keeping it clean. Because I always assume the dining room is cleaner than the kitchen. If the dining room is disgusting, I can only imagine what happens in the kitchen. There are several different«sections» where it looks like they may have added on to the restaurant piecemeal. Each one is «decorated» differently. Some of the«decorations» include bumper stickers stuck right on the walls. Not enough to make it kitschy cool, just enough to make it very bizarre. Then, I was struck by the oddity of the situation. «Servers» seat you. But they will not take your order! You go up to the counter for that, order and pay up front. You get your own water and coffee, but do not touch the utensils! They bring those to you. We had none on our table and I was scolded for touching the cart where they keep them. They also bring your food out. Does this restaurant offer service, or is it self service? Pick one and commit! Because it is just bizarre. And the poor wait staff hustling out the food is barely making any tips because they aren’t really servers. There is a communal tip jar at the register. The kind of spot where most put in $ 1 or their leftover change. I honestly don’t know how they get anyone to work there, maybe they’re all family? Because if I was bringing food to tables all day, I’d really prefer to be making 20% of each check. Water and coffee are out for you to serve yourself. Water was warm and coffee was cold. BAD!!! Servers would come around periodically with hot fresh coffee, but it was really hard to grab someone, and it would run out quickly as they were only sending one pot out every 15 minutes or so. There was no hope in getting actual ice for my ice water. I would have been more forgiving about all of that… if the food rocked. But it didn’t. Not really at all. I got the chicken and waffles. Be aware, if you order anything with waffle, they will put the syrup on it for you. You need to specify if you want it on the side! Luckily I did that. So I got a mini little itty bitty baby sized plastic cup of syrup. They’re not leaving that out for you to serve yourself! For the prices, I truly did not appreciate the«rationing» of syrup. The waffle under my chicken was small, chewy, limp, cold and flavorless. I get that it is a different type of waffle, dough instead of batter, blah blah blah. I completely excuse the size of the waffle on that basis. But it should still taste good, and it does not. They don’t put butter on it, so the 0.005 oz of syrup I was given was the only help I could give to that poor waffle. Serving potato chips with a breakfast dish is also odd. You can switch to homefries, but their homefries looked gross. The chicken was actually quite good. It was the best part of our collective meals. It was well seasoned and juicy and hot. I wished I just had that on a plate with some dipping sauce, but that’s actually not an option. My husband ordered the Louie Special His waffle was the same as mine, not good. His had the syrup right on it, so he probably got more syrup than I did. The«house prepared bread» was also nothing special, and they don’t have jelly. YOUCANNOTSERVETOASTANDNOTHAVEJELLYANDCALLYOURSELF A BREAKFASTJOINT. Even if I was onboard before, they would have lost me there. There is a requirement for a jelly caddy and me having to sift through all the unwanted grape jelly and orange marmalade, to find the one strawberry jelly hiding at the bottom, like a little treasure. If I don’t get to do that, you have failed me. Toast without jelly is a little taste of what Hades must feel like. The rest of his meal was mediocre at best, and certainly not worth the price or even worth discussing. I obviously forgot to take a picture and that’s fitting because it wasn’t worth remembering. Oh and it was FREEZING in there. There are two separate doors that lead outside that are in the dining room. They kept opening and letting blasts of ice cold air in. Everyone near us was eating their breakfast with their coats on. People don’t like that! Notice it and do something about it! My bottom line: the owners should close this dump for at least a week and sanitize it. Wipe the food off the walls. Repaint. Show you care about what you are producing. Figure out if you want to be full or self service. And then rebrand your restaurant to focus on the chicken, rather than the waffle. You make great chicken, but your waffles are just not good.

Type of order: Breakfast, twice. Food Quality: Slop thrown on a plate. To be fair, I haven’t had a waffle offering. Beer Selection: N/A Service: Pick up service. Even with that, venue seemed overwhelmed with filling Coffees, Cokes and Ginger Ales. Atmosphere: Breakfast style food. Clean. Prices: High for the quality of food. Entertainment: Watching the shitty food come out on a plate. Overall Experience: Never went back. Recommend Rating: No plans to relive this.

Cage-free, vegetarian fed eggs, belgium-made waffle dough(not just your average pancake-batter), free of hormones and antibiotics, all-natural chicken, gluten-free options; sounds like your quintessential hipster joint right? Well, maybe. Either way, Sloppy Waffle makes a mean chicken and waffles! Waffles, oversized omelettes, specialty pancakes, egg sandwiches — there is no shortage of breakfast offerings here. But, if you made the drive out here you might as well go for their signature chicken and waffles, I do, every time!(Don’t forget to add the bacon! YUM) What I really appreciate is that they serve only Café Lareño, good Puerto Rican coffee you wouldn’t otherwise know about, give that a try too while you’re there! FYI: — Cash Only, ATM available inside — 10% off for seniors and military personnel — Closed Mondays, Tuesday-Sunday: 7am-230pm

I was really pleasantly surprised by this place. After seeing their strange commercials I was a little skeptical but I’m glad the food ended up being good. As others have said, the process here is a little different. First you are seated and you look over the menu. Once you are ready you go up to the counter with your group to order(cash only). Once your food is ready they bring it to you and that’s that. I decided to go with the chicken and waffles as it seemed most appropriate. The waffle was delicious and the chicken was perfectly crispy and moist. The batter on the outside was great. The rest of my group seemed to be happy with their meals as well. The only thing that was a problem was that my friends said their coffee was cold. The interior is nothing to rave about, and in my opinion could use some updating and re-decorating. Staff were friendly and I can say that I’ll be back if I’m in the area!

Can’t believe I didn’t write a review for this place on my first visit. Before I start talking about my second/current experience, let me first say I’ve been here once before and had a great experience. On my first visit I got the chicken and waffles(which was phenomenal) and the chocolate lovers waffle for«dessert.» Their waffles are a Belgium style waffle made with more of a doughy consistency. The chicken was great also… Very flavorful and tender. Portion size was very generous. I’m a fan of the chicken/waffle savory combo so I’m very critical of how this comes out, but they hit the nail on the head. The chocolate lovers waffle was also right down my alley. The waffle was basically named after me and it represented its name well. I would highly recommend either of those(or both together if you get as hungry as I do). :) Now on to the present. I came in on my second visit for their new hotness — the rumored Spicy Jeff sandwich. I ordered it with confidence. It’s spicy chicken with maple syrup and an egg on bread or a waffle(for an extra $ 2.50), with a choice of mild, medium, or hot sauces. I ordered it on a waffle with confidence, adding cheddar cheese and choosing the Hot sauce. It came out within 5 minutes. Let first say this: The hot spicy Jeff is HOT! I do spicy with no problem but this was not your normal hot sauce. This was clear your sinuses, sweat under the air conditioner, is my throat melting, hot! The sandwich is flavorful and filling. The cheese definitely took it up a notch also, but do yourself and get it mild! It came with home fries, which I don’t care for from here. They’re pretty bland and mushy — the opposite of how home fries were meant to be. That’s about the only negative here besides the fact that they’re cash only(but have an ATM). I did appreciate how my server later came by and offered me a sample of their banana pancakes(which was amazing). I plan on coming back next time for either the full order of those pancakes or the PB Cup Waffle, depending on my mood. :) All in all, this place is a Must Eat on the Berlin Tpke!

Finally got around to trying The Sloppy Waffle and sad I waited so long! I am taking off one star because the whole ordering process is odd and confusing. Plus the place is cash only. You walk in and someone takes to to a seat and gives you a menu, however to order you have to get back up and go to the counter. It would make much more sense to come in order, then find a seat. They can still bring the food out to you. Also the water and coffee is self-serve from the side bars. Though the process of getting the food is out of the ordinary, the actual food is delicious! The boyfriend and I shared the smores waffle and the sloppy waffle. Glad we shared the smores waffle because it was rich(but tasty) and I don’t think i could of eaten the whole thing. It was pure sugar! I really enjoyed the sloppy waffle– we got it with scrambled eggs and bacon. It was the perfect combo and would totally go back again for it.

I can definitely understand the high rating for this place! They have an extensive menu with many options for you to choose from, even if you don’t like waffles! But c’mon. who wouldn’t like these LIEGEWAFFLES? They’re amazing. First off, when you walk in, they pre-assign you your table before you order at the front. The system is weird, but they don’t seem to have much of a wait so I guess it works for them(or at least that day we went). The whole restaurant isn’t that big, but they bus tables fast and seem to get people moving. My friend and I shared the chicken and waffles and the sloppy waffle. All their waffles are the liege kind, so expect a dense dough with sweet sugar pearls inside! –Chicken and waffles: my favorite out of the 2 we ordered. The piece of chicken is BIG and it goes great with the waffle. It’s seasoned well and they put maple syrup on top too I think. The savory + sweet go really great together –Sloppy waffle: more of your classic breakfast style. comes with 2 eggs, cheese, and we got bacon as our meat. This was good too, but I liked the chicken better cause it was more unique. Both dishes come with potatoes, which were just ok for me. I would’ve liked them to be a little more crispy or cooked longer so they werent mushy. Overall we both left STUFFED& satisfied! PS. CASHONLY

First time here and could wait to try what my friends been raving about, the best chicken and waffles in town. The chicken was very good, well seasoned and good sized portion. The waffles they say it is imported from Belgium, and it is not batter, but dough based. It was very good but I wished the waffle portion was larger. Instead the center piece of the plate is the chicken, and the waffle sadly hides beneath it. You are a waffle focused restaurant for crying out loud. Bump up that waffle portion and make it stand out. But I guess those imported Belgium waffles must be expensive and hard to get. I don’t care… charge me $ 3 dollars more and double its portion and make that waffle as big as the plate. The other side of my experience here was the service. This is a cash only place. Thank God for the ATM on premises. I walked in and was a bit taken by the way they do things. You order at the counter, you tell them where you are sitting, they take your name, and they will bring you your food. That’s about all the waitering service you will get. The rest is all self-service like the coffee, water, silverware, ketchup, sauces and etc… After doing everything, aside from the cooking, I felt I should also clean up after myself. Why not? Right? I was a good customer, and I even felt I deserved a tip a the end. They have no visible menus that are easily visible anywhere. They are just thrown on top of the ATM in the corner. They should hang some menus up so that it is easily spotted as soon as you walk in. Also their menu is very hard to read. It is very wordy and poorly laid out. Needs to be cleaned up and better organized. Whoever is reading this review my conclusion is that the experience here is unique. The food is very good, but the portions are unfair. I was ok with the lack of service but it was not something I was expecting walking in. For sure it is not your typical restaurant but I would definitely would like to come back and try another small waffle dish.

What a strange little place. First of all, it’s super dated for a spot that hasn’t been open too long, and it’s cash only(but thankfully with an ATM inside). The setup is odd — you get seated, then order at the counter, waitress brings you your meal, and you have to walk across the restaurant to get your silverware. Coffee is self serve and it’s a very decent brew. On to the food — I really should have ordered something savory — my(hard, cold) waffle with apples and whipped cream had the weirdest aftertaste and left me with a skin crawling sugar high. Still, bonus points for homemade whipped cream. will say that my fiancé’s chicken & waffles dish was fairly tasty, as the chicken had a very nice seasoning. The pricing structure seems kind of absurd; you get an enormous platesized pancake for $ 5-$ 7(fair), a generous portion of chicken & waffles for $ 10(fair)…and yet, a tiny single waffle for $ 7.25. Overall, there are definitely positive aspects and the staff were all super friendly but I’m just not a fan. I might return and try something else eventually but it likely won’t be soon.
