Decided to stop in to have lunch. A really local feel provided by the staff with an average daft selection. The bartender was very nice. Unfortunately, the crowd that happened to there were some of the worse I have ever heard. Very anti-patriotic, divisive and nothing about sports. Think a rural American that may have never been exposed to any other race, religion, creed or culture. This took away from the atmosphere. The menu has a very upscale bar menu feel. If the crowd is an true representation of the people that stop in, I would probably not come back.

Good place to go if you’re looking to get stabbed. Walked in. Every single person in the bar stared at me for extended period. Steer clear. Horrible.

I was pleasantly surprised with the food quality at the bar. It is well priced and I was extremely surprised with the flavor and tenderness of the steak I got from the bar. They have a good amount of drink selections and have many tvs to watch all the games on. I went here in between classes with my buddy and we also had wings and the Philly cheese egg rolls which were also pretty good. I would go back again.

Had an amazing experience here today. Had the ciabatta pollo and beef tips with caprese. The owner sat with us for a bit and was great company and so funny. Come to this bar and you will be pleasantly surprised by your culinary experience. Simply Incredible!

Fine for drinks, although it feels very«clicky» to us, like everyone knows you’re not a regular. Tried the wings which were standard, nothing special. Smells like stale beer…

Food is still very good, but recently waited over an hour for two sandwiches. Plus one of them was a cold sandwich. Completely unacceptable. Need to run the food side of the operation much more efficiently as it wasn’t even crowded. Hopefully it will get corrected.

I think this one is rated a bit higher than it should be. Don’t get me wrong, the food was really good and I can see myself ordering food here again. I want to make this my local spot since they have lots of TVs for sports and it has that dive bar feel. The beer selection is pretty poor. Basically all macro brews and two local beers. I had a Two Roads and my beer was clearly flat. The bartender didn’t bother to try another pour or let me choose another beer until I asked. My fiancée’s beer came out ok and had a nice head. I think this is a 3⁄5 place since it didn’t blow me away but the service was good and the food was good.

We came from out of sate for my son’s hockey game, which was 3 minutes form The Bar and Grill. We went based on Unilocal reviews. We met two other families there and when we arrived I was nervous being there with the kids as it was a little«dive like», fine for us adults though. After being there only about 1 minute we were cheerfully greeted and our drink orders were take. The owner came right over and gave the three 8 year old boys the shuffle board game and ping pong table stuff. They were super happy. One boy ordered chocolate milk, the owner went next door to the gas station and bought it for him, and never charged us. No kids menu, but they had chicken fingers and served us an order of pasta with butter and the boys were happy. Our sandwiches were great and the service was excellent. The prices were VERY reasonable. We would defiantly go again. They are more like a bar, but very accommodating with kids. Thanks Bar and Grill — hope to see you soon!

Fun place! Came here while I was visiting home from Ca. Great drinks, great prices, good bartenders and atmosphere. Definitely recommend this bar except the chic bartender should prob show off her abs off in a better outfit… Yoga pants and a sports bra doesn’t cut it for everyone on a Friday night ;)

I hate all the negative reviews on Unilocal, but after my most recent experience with The Bar and Grill I feel I had to let people know about this tomfoolery. Let me start this by saying I have had excellent experiences with The Bar’s food. I’m not a sports bar person but The Bar had delivery and I’m pretty darn lazy. I ordered, not expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised by a tasty pecan chicken sandwich. The Bar became a fast favorite when cooking wasn’t an option — the burgers and sandwiches were good, but my favorite thing was the Philly cheesesteak egg roll. I never had anything bad to say about them until this evening. I got two orders of the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls and had one order for lunch. I took the other order home to share. Unfortunately, when I busted open the second order, I noticed something stuck to one of the egg rolls. More unfortunately, upon closer inspection it was a bug. I’m not talking about a fly or a gnat that could have fallen into the box or stuck in the fridge… I’m talking about a one inch long winged insect that had been cooked(i.e. fried) ONTO the egg roll wrapper. I immediately tossed everything and called the restaurant. I let the woman who answered the phone know about my predicament, only to be passed off onto the cook. I really didn’t think it was possible for a conversation to be so awkward. First he tried telling me it was melted cheese. When I said I had never seen melted cheese with wings, legs, and eyeballs(ITWAS A BIGBUG) he said he didn’t see anything. Then there was a long pause. FInally he asked«can I do anything for you?» Um, yes. Apologize and offer a refund, for starters. I suggested a refund which led to another very long pause. He then suggested I contact the delivery company despite the fact that it was very clearly a freaking BUG fried into the food. I let him know I’d try talking to the delivery company and hung up more than a little disappointed. On the plus side, the delivery company gave me a full refund and apologized profusely, but I will never order food from this place again(obviously). Go 860togo and boo The Bar.

This is place is a conundrum.. Sort of a sports bar… college bar, dive highway truck stop(shares a pad with gas station.) but the food is legit. Apparently the bar is separated from the kitchen and everything is make from scratch. I had the chicken parm not what you would order at a bar but it was delicious. The bar staff is typical pretty college girl with flat beer and not many premium drink options but prices are good and everyone is friendly.

This place was a hidden gem! It may not look it from the outside but it was amazing! The food was good, the atmosphere was fun, and the service was great! We had an order of the crispy ribs, which were some of the best ribs I ever had, and an order of the spicy cheeseburger quesadilla-it was one of the weekly specials, very good as well. We will absolutely be back!

I know, another 4 star review for Kara. Seriously, when you click 4 stars, Unilocal says that I’m saying«Yay! I’m a fan.» Well I am a fan of The Bar & Grill in Newington. It kept popping up in my Unilocal feed and I had to try it. My wife and I LOVED it. We walked in on a Saturday around 1pm and it was fairly empty. The bartender/waitress was super friendly and OK-ed us to sit out on the back patio. I’m not taking off any points for the back patio. It’s not pretty for dining but it looks AWESOME for fun. It’s covered, has a bar with a couple of taps, TVs, heaters,…heck there’s a volleyball net, pool table and cornhole to play. Very cool. Ok, so we ordered some beers on tap and as I said the waitress was fantastic. She definitely wanted to give us suggestions on what beers we’d(potentially) like. I told her that my wife doesn’t know her beer but she likes stuff like Stella. She ended up with a Blue Moon(perfect). I ordered the double IPA and she insisted on giving me a sample of that an another IPA(I liked both but went with the double). She was super sweet about all of that. We ordered 3 appetizers, all of which were really tasty. My favorite had to be the beef tenderloin skewer served with slices of tomato and fresh mozzarella with pesto. The meat was delicious with it’s balsamic glaze. This could easily be a meaty/salady meal. We also had the philly cheesesteak egg rolls. Yeah. Let that sink in cause it was full on goodness. And… to round out the healthy meal, potato skins. Everything was super tasty, large portions(we took most of the skins and egg rolls home). We will DEFINITELY be back. Oh and they’re open 365 days a year… even during blizzards(which some fellow patrons were telling us about). Check it out.

I love love love The Bar and Grill. It is a great sports bar with awesome food, great drink prices, and a very affable wait staff. They even have a huge out door patio with a couple of TV’s as well. Food: Unpretentious, delicious and very creative. They make these philly cheese steak egg rolls that are so good. Wings are very meaty, they fry them and grill them as well to get a nice char flavor Drinks: No where else in CT will you find a delicious craft double IPA in a pint for $ 3.75. Crazy!!! Most places would charge $ 6.50 and put it in a 12 oz glass Waitstaff: very friendly, a lot of pretty women behind the bar as well who hustle hard, they are not their strictly their for eye candy This is a great place to watch a game or just hang out, its close to Hartford and has plenty of parking as well and that in itself is refreshing, most other bars around unless they are in a strip mall parking is nightmare. Go to the Bar and Grill!

Love this place! A new food service company recently took over and the food couldn’t be any better. Had a great meal and the customer service is above and beyond what you would expect from a local bar and grill. This place is highly recommended for lunch, dinner, night out or casual drinks with friends.

I gotta say bravo. Pleasantly surprised by the food here. I had the beef tenderloin skewers with nice ripe tomato and fresh mozzarella. I got a glimpse of some of the sandwiches flying out and have to come back cause they looked really good. Nice to see simple bar food prepared with care and fresh ingredients, please keep it up, I will be back

I Sift through the Newington Dense rain forests machete in hand. I Do a rain dance every ¼ mile until I see the horizon of this small bungalow. I rest my Bow against the dunkin next door, remove my kilt and wipe the Tears from my eyes. I have made it. Now I come into the bar, order a few pitchers of Two roads white water. Yell obscenities at the televisions. Greet all Of the customers like fellow Greek warriors Eat my food, declare myself satisfied. Re loop the belt of my kilt, holster my machete. And re enter the Harsh forests of newington ct. Come here in hopes of meeting me, Chizz. The Newington warrior

So here’s the deal with this place: 100% recommend! From the road its nothing to look at and if I was hungry it would not catch my eye as a place for good food… but You would be totally wrong!!! The food here is AMAZING!!! I will agree the layout is very sports bar like with some booths, but mostly high top tables, pool tables and games. the back has an outside patio that once the weather breaks looks like a good time with tvs and an outside bar. When we came in, we were immediately welcomed by the bartender and owner. Very nice. Service was great, good local brews on tap. We ended up having the steak and cheese egg rolls, which by the way, all the food is made for scratch! My only comment on those would be to add a little more cheese to eliminate any possible dryness from the steak. Over all though they are a 4 star. What brought us there was the«crispy ribs» I saw on the Unilocal page. These were awesome! Crunchy ribs that fall off the bone glazed with a sort of Asian General Tao sauce. Soooo good. Very large portion as well. I ordered the special buffalo chicken sandwich. Just to give you the idea, look at the photo ! Huge portion, with lettuce tomato, cherry peppers and potato roll… This chef knows what he is doing! The bun can make or break a sandwich, and this made it! Awesome!!! Lauren had the marinated steak tip salad and was very happy. Not only did the bartender come over to ensure our satisfaction, but so did the owner/chef. I so look forward to to returning! Overall, great place

What a cozy little sports bar! They almost always have a nice array of games on tv as well as a nice little crowd of people. The parking can be tight out front, but there is plenty of parking in the back. The bar is pretty big and has enough space for a bunch of people. There are tables near the two pool tables and tables on the other side of the bar so never hard to find a seat! Besides the pool tables there is air hockey in the back. Also there is a patio out back but I didn’t go out there bc it was too cold! They have a nice array of beer and liquor. I sampled a few items off of the menu, and was very happy with my chili cheese fries as well as their new wings! On NFL Sunday there are football specials and they have a really nice menu all the time. The nachos are yummy and so are the crispy ribs. They have salads, sandwiches, burgers, and entrees as well. And the prices are reasonable. And yes, the bathroom is clean :) A definite come back often! Come for the food, stay for the fun!
