I went back for another try… the food is uneatable… can’t imagine this place staying in business… everything even the chips and salsa is BAD!!!

Service was great! Guac wonderful! I sent the tortilla soup back because it didn’t taste good.

Ordered the from the vegetarian portion of the menu. My plate consisted of maybe 12 grains of rice, 60% beans and two spinach burrito things. It was okay but for some reason I got sick after eating my meal. Everything tasted cheap, even the water. I would go again if I absolutely HAD to. Or if someone were to pay for me. Otherwise I would go elsewhere for sure. The service was alright, nothing spectacular.

They have very good green enchiladas here. The salsa is a bit watery, but taste wise it’s ok. The HUGE margaritas should only be had if you’re not driving, because there is a lot of alcohol in them. Even if you split with someone, don’t drive, they’re that big. They’re very fruity though. The guac here is outstanding as well.

While this restaurant has been in Newington a few years, we never tried it, preferring to stick with our old stand-by, Puerto Vallarta. I really wish we hadn’t decided to venture out and try Plaza Azteca last night. My husband ordered the wings for an appetizer which he said were good. The salsa was okay but not great. He ordered the Burrito Mex and I got the Baja tacos. When they arrived, I only ate a small bite and it tasted«off,» like it was overcooked. The fish was chewy as well, another indication it was overcooked. I didn’t feel great so I asked them to package it to take home. My husband’s steak in the burrito was overcooked as well and he said pieces of it were more like jerky than steak. My food was packaged and the server brought our check and said she would be right back. Seventeen minutes later, we were up and looking around the restaurant to give her the check so we could leave. Instead of using a credit card, we grabbed money out so we could just leave. This morning, I opened the take-away container to look at the fish and indeed, there are burned edges on the fried fish in three of the four tacos. Not only was the fish overcooked but it was overcooked to the point of burning it. The smell was infused through the whole container. Lesson learned. Next time, back to Puerto Vallarta.

First let me say that the food was very good I’ve had more authentic but for a chain restaurant it was really good and the guacamole was awesome Second the service was very good also attentive and never had to worry about our glasses being empty Now the real problem I gave them four stars on food service but I’m going to give them one star on billing, we received our check and it was 18% gratuity automatically added to the bill I let it go through to see if it was just a suggestion which they had at the bottom of the bill also but when I received my check back he actually charged me the check amount plus the gratuity and on the receipt there was also another line for another gratuity. This practice is completely unacceptable unethical and illegal, in the state of Connecticut is against the law for a restaurant to automatically charge a customer a gratuity they change that law a few years ago, I brought this to the managers attention he informed me there may have been a glitch in the system and it was only supposed to get added on if the bill was over hundred dollars, I have reminded him again that the practice is completely illegal and he said he would look into it. Reminder to all the customers make sure you check your bill before you pay

Not worth returning to eat another meal here. Hostess at the front forgot to seat my party and seated 3 other parties before us. Only when we approached her to ask why we hadn’t been seated yet, did she get us a table. Ordering and receiving the food was quick. However, the food was bland and not very flavorful. I would’ve rather had gotten Taco Bell.

I’ve been here a few times over the last two years and it’s a very mixed bag. I went last night and got the spinach and chicken enchiladas — not super exciting. It wasn’t very warm and it tasted very bland. The rice is nothing exciting either. I’m not necessarily expecting authentic cuisine here but I wish there was an overall better taste. On the positive I’ve always had great service here timely and attentive. I also enjoyed the guacamole. They have a nice bar to grab a drink. If that’s all you’re looking for its not a bad place.

Okay food. Very good price. And I’ve never had bad service! Not exactly authentic but if you know that before hand you won’t be let down

Love their table side guacamole, be sure to ask for the white sauce! The Texas fajitas are really good — be prepared to take home leftovers. The margaritas are really good. We come here maybe 2 – 4 times a year and the service is consistent.

One of our favorite restaurants for the food but tonight our service was great! Had Ronald and he was attentive, fast, efficient and friendly! Couldn’t have asked for a better server. Thank you Ronald!

Perhaps the secret to eating here is what you’re ordering. We have been here a number of times and have always had a good experience. But I will add the caveat that we always order the same exact thing. I always start with one of the jumbo mango margaritas. They are so good! They’re strong too, you’re definitely feeling it after just one drink. They give you free chips and salsa, which are very good. They’ll give you more if you want it, but we try not to fill up on that before the meal. But we also never order appetizers as the chips and salsa are enough. I always order the baja fish tacos and they’re great. It’s served with rice or black beans. I always get the rice. It’s different than the rice that comes with the other meals. It’s more of a white rice with corn and seasonings mixed in. I love it. The portion size is just enough. Let’s be realistic, no one wants reheated leftover fried fish tacos. So it’s better to get an appropriate portion that you can eat while at the restaurant. I can’t always finish all of it, but do usually eat the fish out of the tacos. My husband always orders fajitas. It’s pretty standard and hard to mess up. He always has leftovers to bring home. I can’t speak to the rest of the menu, because we really do order the same thing every time. If you’ve had a less than stellar experience, try the fish tacos or the fajitas! And I definitely give two thumbs up to the margaritas!

i’ve eaten at a different plaza azteca before. i was seated right away here; however, nobody came to greet my party. 20 minutes passed and I had to go complain because no one even gave us any water or chips. the manager took care of us and gave us a free dessert item. man, i gotta say, the beeritas are humongous and STRONG! and for the price, they’re totally worth it. it’s always a good time when i get the beerita.

So here I am cruising north bound on the Berlin Turnpike, hunger is rapidly approaching, I want something quick, good and filling, I do not do fast food unless its absolutely necessary. Stuff will kill you. So any way I look to my right and there it is… Plaza Azteca. Going there to slam some grub down. So I walk in and am greeted by two hot senioritas, did I spell that right? Well anyway say right down and ordered the Suizas Enchilada, a bowl of free corn chips and salsa while you wait. Very tasty. So here comes dinner just a couple of minutes thereafter, oh yea very good, real good. Recommend if your in the area. Will definitely stop back for the food and maybe the senioritas.

Poor customer service. The rice tastes like cardboard. I ordered tacos w lettuce and cheese and there was no cheese. The lady tried to tell me it’s there but there is only a little. One taco had a little the other none. The chicken quesadilla was gross. The Margarita was great but not great enough for me to ever come back!

Fajitas were great! I love the skinny margarita! For for the double for an extra $ 5. Azteca salad was ok… I’d try fajita salad next time instead. Great homemade dressings! Love the atmosphere.

Good: 1. Guacamole is awesome! They make it right in front of you! 2. Our waiter Philipe is very nice. 3. Margarita is delicious! 4. Price is fair Bad: 1. Foods are not very good, most of them are very mushy and too cheesy. 2. Many servers don’t seems to speak a lot of English. but still very nice.

Puerto Vallarta makes this place look like a Mexican McDonald’s… Every piece of my chicken for my fajitas was gritty and fatty… My father didn’t finish his burrito because it was watery inside… And when we wanted to tell our waiter he was know where to be found… Disappearing for 15 min at a time. Def won’t be back… I’d rate Taco Bell better!!!

Be happy if you don’t get ECOLI here. Loses their liquor license relatively regularly. The cheese sauce is phenomenal, but found a pube sized hair in it. Have gone in there and been ignored for extended minutes at a time. Awkward experience every time.

Plaza Azteca used to be one of my favorite places especially for Margarita Mondays. But I’m not sure if they are under new ownership, but they went downhill. The service has been horrible the past 3x I’ve a been there. The food isn’t the same either. The only thing they’ve got going on are the drinks. Still awesome. It’s a cool place to hang in the summer for drinks.
