This place is the best! Forget In-and-Out. Jimmy Dean’s pastrami is really good! Their burgers are made how burgers should be made. They are not the cheapest burger in town, but then again, that’s not what I’m looking for. Give them a try!

I honestly love Jimmy Deans. Late a lot of different employees have been hired and they are really rude. Usually when something is $.50 they say ok sir it’ll be $.50 right? These guys are too aggressive and make you want to be act defensive or not order at all. I think the quality of the food is delicious and the ranch dressing is so delicious!

I only go here for breakfast. I’ve never had anything off of their lunch menu, but I’m sure it’s delicious as well. I always get their Jr. Breakfast Burrito. With their taco salsa sauce or whatever, it is delicious. It is enormous as well! Portions are huge. Downside is that the drive thru is slooooow and their parking lot is teeny tiny so if the line in the drive thru is long, you either can’t park or leave the lot because it’s blocked.

This place used to make great, hot burgers. Last time I came here Sept 2015 I got ripped off by the cashier. There’s a combo price and an a la carte price, I specifically ordered the combo to save a few measly $ 0.50. I got charged the more expensive price. When I asked that my change be returned, an older woman responded, not the cashier, and said she was right in charging what she did, despite me showing her the receipt and what I got. I got the generic and shyster, shrewd reply, «oh, that was not part of the deal». I stand on principle. I hate cheaters, 50 cents, $ 50,000 — a cheat is a cheat. No apologies. I’d stay away from this grease pit from now on and advise Unilocalers to look to the Wendy’s not too far from here. And BTW, why the F do they call this Jimmy Dean’s, when they do not even seem to be legally franchised with THETRUE Jimmy Dean we know.

I frequented this place almost every day after work 23 yrs ago. I have since moved out of state for that long and just came back to Cali for the 1st X in decades! I was so excited to see nothing has changed about JD’s. The menu even has remained the same; everything I ordered was fabulous! I went 2 days in a row and can’t wait to come back on my next visit. I really miss this place big time!

My family and I have been coming here for over 15 years and we love it. The portions are big and there is a variety of food to select from.

So delicious. We stopped for lunch because it’s close to the library. We came in just as a huge rush of high school kids came in for lunch and we still got hot, fresh, timely food. Totally impressed.

Whenever I visit grandma, I get us her favorite FISH sandwich. She loves her her Jimmy Dean’s! I am now a devoted FAN of the restaurant(not just the actor!). Jimmy Dean’s fish sandwich is always fresh and HUGE! We split it. Along with their super fresh fries, you can’t beat it. Yes, it’s fried and this is a treat for me! The drive-thru is not super fast because they actually MAKE the food. Just give it a few minutes, its worth the wait. Grandma has been going here for years. Grandmas know how to pick ‘em! Go granny! Go Jimmy Dean’s!

Never ate at this place so my boyfriend and I figured we would try it out. The inside looks ghetto, the employees acted like they hate their life and were extremely unfriendly. I had a JR breakfast burrito and it was disgusting. My boyfriend had a burger and it tasted like a McDonald’s burger(which is like fake meat and grease). We will not be coming back and I don’t recommend to anyone. I would give zero stars if it allowed me to.

Always a busy Saturday morning. It’s packed inside, drive thru line 5 cars deep. And the people don’t stop coming in. More than half of the orders are for the famous hearty American breakfast burrito. I ordered one like most times plus the French toast combo. 2 eggs 4 bacon strips(extra crispy or it ain’t bacon) and 2 slices of French toast cut in halfs. Sorry no pics was too hungry and just dove in thanks Jimmy

The place ok… I ordered the Denver omelette with egg white. Omelette was tasty, but they F_____me in the drive thru. Shorted me a bottle water. Always check yourself, before leaving any food establishment.

Not a happy camper today at Jimmy Deans. Not only was Ashley thee worst cashier when it comes to customer service… My burrito was terribly prepared. Although this location is so close to home I will not be coming to this Jimmy Deans ever again.

This review is solely based off their GLORIOUS breakfast burritos, haha. I have never actually gone in to the restaurant or have ordered from there, a co-worker buys them for the office for our Friday morning meetings and they are so good! I am not even a breakfast person and I don’t typically like fast food breakfast burritos but this one is the EXCEPTION!(yes, I am yelling) So anyways, five stars for the breakfast burritos!

Food is good but to many employees rattling off stuffing Spanish. Not a thought to being courteous to the us timer, rude at the counter. Tough to beat the onion rings though

Just close already! I used to go here when I lived in SCV back in the nineties. I recently moved back and saw that it was still open. Went through the drive-through, what an ordeal. It took FOREVER! Got home and opened the bag of disappointment. Literally the thinnest hamburger patty I have ever seen was burnt so bad it looked like a piece of leather. Then the onions rings. How do you burn onion rings on one side?! Did you cook them on the grill?! This place has gone downhill since the last time I was here(1998).

(Tookout 10÷09÷14TH @ 11:00am): Not nearly as good as the legendary actor, but it’ll do in a pinch! I was helping a dear friend move, and as a reward she treated me to lunch at Jimmy Dean’s Charbroiled Burgers, which I’d been to once before when I still worked in the area. I believed this was the same namesake as the sausages you found in the grocery stores. In any event, it was one of those places you came across out in a rural area or along a lonely dusty highway. Since Newhall was kind of like that, I guess it fit. Anyway, on with the grub report: [ONIONRINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT — 2 of 5STARS]($ 4.45) Sadly, the only positives were the portion and individual sizes and the price. There simply wasn’t any taste so I resorted to tons of Ketchup and ranch dressing. The breading was overly crispy to the point where each bite led to the entire casing crumbling apart which led to a huge mess and me with only an onion strip between my fingers. Definitely pass on these. Bacon Cheeseburger($ 5.69) — The filthier they came the more enjoyable it was going down into my belly! This handful of a fat juicy meat patty, stacked with layers of thick crispy(but not brittle) bacon, a large tomato slice a la Tommy’s, hints of lettuce and some kind of sauce, and what appeared to be a square of government-esque cheese(i.e. extra yellow, didn’t melt, and seemed rubbery), barely held together by lightly-toasted buns, was more to my liking. Nothing fancy or gourmet about it – just down-and-dirty meat-in-my-mouth goodness where two hands and plenty of napkins were highly recommended. Service — Based solely on the drive-thru experience, the young lady at the speaker was ready to take our order once we drove up… but we weren’t. After a couple minutes we were set while she patiently waited. We pulled up to the window, paid for our food, and about ten minutes later(seemed a bit long) our food was ready. We were offered Ketchup packets and given a «have a nice day» as we left. Easy-peasy. Parking(free) — They had their own tiny parking lot with less than 15 spots. Otherwise, there was plenty of street parking along the main drag of Lyons Ave. or any of the surrounding side streets. Or, do as we did and hit up the drive-thru. Atmosphere, décor, ambience — On this occasion, we went through a rather standard narrow drive-thru lane. However, on a previous dining experience, I recalled the inside dining area reminded me of an aging 60’s diner and a Denny’s without the fleather booths, with several tables and chairs you’d find at any fast food joint disbursed throughout. There was a hectic-looking order counter area where the menu was displayed behind and up on the wall . The refillable drink station, with an old skool Orange Bang! machine(God, I used to love that stuff!), was nicely kept . Various random things were hung on the walls. A decent amount of natural lighting came through the many windows; however, it was the various fluorescent and hanging electic lighting that was more prevalent. If you had some spare change, try your luck with the«crane» game. I didn’t notice any TVs or background music. Attire — Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. Overall, I considered Jimmy Dean’s Charbroiled Burgers a «greasy spork», a term I affectionately called such places that served no-frills burgers and sides back in da day when I kept a food blog during the 90’s. The menu was quite varied which also included an assortment of breakfast items(I’ve heard and read rave things about their burritos which I should’ve tried), sodas, milkshakes and the aforementioned Bang! Needless to say, the food wasn’t the healthiest, but sometimes the bad tasted oh so damn good and your body needed a shock now and then! The prices were very good for what you got, but please stay away from the disappointing onion rings. I hoped their other sides(i.e. fries, zucchini, etc.) fared better. I found fairly good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above(total paid experience was around $ 11.00 before tip). Although I didn’t pay on this occasion(thank you, Sandi!), they accepted credit cards, but not mine of choice… AMEX! 3.5STARS

I was told that I had to go here and try this places breakfast burrito. So some friends and I went one morning to grab some breakfast. The girl at the counter was nice and she definitely recommended the breakfast burrito for newbies. So that along with some ranch sauce did it for us. Freakin huge burrito! When it came I immediately regretted not getting the smaller size. It was massive and filled with potatoes, cheese, eggs, meat and chili. Yes chili. Weird but altogether the fillings made for a great breakfast burrito. And yep, the Unilocalers were right. The added ranch sauce made it even better. But let’s be real, when does ranch not make something better. My friends and I all enjoyed our food. They also serve their entire menu all day. So feel free like my friend did and order the fish and chips at 7am. I will definitely be back.

Best burrito around, they said. God’s gift to earth, they said. Well, I say that’s a bunch of crap! LOL The drive-thru is a complete joke. Kudos for having a drive-thru but what’s the point of convenience if the wait time is double that of the dine-in. Food I do like that they have different sizes for their breakfast burritos. They have a junior($ 5) and a regular($ 7). I opted for the junior and it was pretty beastly. I would compare it to the size of a good Chipotle burrito. Even though the burrito was pretty packed I have to say I was a bit dissappointed. It came with chili which is rather odd. It has to be the first breakfast burrito I’ve ever tried with chili. The chili was generic but did mix well with the hashbrowns. On the other hand, my hashbrowns weren’t toasty, there was hardly any sausage, the eggs were crispy(in a bad way) and the tortilla was way too big for what it was holding which left me with some pretty dry bites. Overall I expected more. It wasn’t awful but it could be better with a few minor adjustments. I might come back to try their«pure ground beef» but I won’t be back for that burrito.
