They only deliver with orders over $ 30, which I found out to my disappointment when I tried to order chicken curry just for me. But then they called me back and said they could do it! Made my night. Food was great too.

I have been a fan if Mr India until last night. The service was awful. Thr host was yelling on speaker phone to someone. The food took forever to come out. The foods tasted great but I cannot deal with that awful service ever again. I won’t even do takeout. I saw three people come in for takeout and have to wait an additional 20 min for their food upon arriving. Never again. Management. Get it together.

The six of us ordered regular and garlic naan, okra, chicken soup, shrimp madras, lamb madras, lamb curry, mixed(chicken, shrimp, lamb) biryani, lamb korna, and a mixed vegetarian dish. Although the okra was a bit fibrous and dry, and the timing of dish delivery was uneven, all the dishes were delicious. Sauces were smooth and flavorful, and portions were large and satisfying. We will be back!

Mr. India changed manager and cook. At our last visit it took us over an hour to get our food when only 8 tables were seated. The food was horribly prepared as if the chefs had no clue how to make the dishes. We were regulars to Mr. India and sadly we no longer will be returning. Time to move on.

I wanted to update my review, as I’ve tried Mr. India two more times recently(to quench my naan cravings) and they have improved dramatically from my last time. It must have been an off day when I went 6 years ago… The Naan was very good, as was the Mango Lassi, the Malai Kofta and Saag Paneer were also tasty. The owner was very nice and was talking with us the whole time and also was very nice to my 4 year old son. I’m glad I gave it another shot, as it’s so close to me!

I traveled in Nepal for 3 months and have cooked Indian and Nepali food extensively the last 20 years. My pantry is stuffed with basmati and ghee and every spice you could imagine. But my food should not be more inspired than a native. This was truly the worst Indian food I have ever had. The owner/family is very kind but you’re paying for a service folks. I found that what they deliver simply isn’t up to par. I urge you to visit Cambridge and Boston –even Lowell– for examples of delicious Indian food. Or even the VIllage in NYC which is filled with incredible authenticity and examples of the depth and variety of this cuisine.

I’ve visited this restaurant a handful of times over the past few years. While I find the customer service to be above and beyond one’s normal expectations, the restaurant still leaves some to be desired. The owner is so kind, and thoughtful, and makes every effort to make it a personal experience for you. However, the exterior and interior both look kind of beat up and dingy. This last time I went there, even the food didn’t seem to be as good as I would’ve hoped. Maybe it’s because it was a relatively busy Saturday night. In any case, I will frequent this place because of its kind ownership, lack of many other options, and convenience when I’m in the area and in the mood for some Indian food.

The food was good. The waiter was not friendly when I entered the restaurant. Later, the waiter was nice and a little friendly. I am very disappointed with the young server in his 20s who was wearing black working clothes and he was not friendly at all and he looked very snobby. The place made me feel very uncomfortable, because of him. If the young server did not work in the restaurant, then I would return. Because of his unfriendliness, I do not have the desire to return to Mr. India restaurant, anymore.

I have never had dinner here, only the lunch buffet. There was only one waiter, which was fine because the place was empty(which should have been a tip-off). The lunch buffet has a very limited selection, and most of the trays were empty. They are very slow about refilling them too. Like another reviewer stated, it’s like they don’t want to put out too much food in case it doesn’t sell. Sure, I filled my plate three times, but with the same naan bread, rice, and chicken korma. Went back another day thinking that the first time was an off day but no. Same limited selection of food and mostly empty trays. I never did get to try the vegetable fritters or the tandoori chicken. The food I did have was pretty decent, but I won’t be returning.

I had been told if you want to try something NOT seafood in the Newburyport you should try Mr. India. For those who love curry and all things Indian, this is the place. I have eaten South West Asian Food in California and had several variations… but this was just awful. I mean just so bad that I was sure I had gotten them on an off day. I wanted to be fair and went back. The same dry chicken, lamb and stale Naan. The curry was requested mild the first day, so I thought if I asked for medium spice perhaps they would pick something fresh. It was inedible. The photos show a few bites and when asked by the waiter why I was not eating, I told him I did not like it and perhaps I could try something else instead. I was told«You just don’t know how to eat Indian food, there is nothing else». For those who have eaten outside of the small area of Newburyport, I would advise you to NOT eat here. It was so bad that is biased my feelings about the rest of the area and this area is a premier seafood destination. The food was terrible, the service worse and when I spoke with the one other couple who were there, and there was only one other, they said, don’t speak to the waiter about the food, that just makes them angry and you don’t want them to spit on your food… Really??? The other couple were adults… this was acceptable? So really, NO. And did I speak with the manager, I asked and was told by the waiter there was none there… the owner comes in on the weekend… and then dropped the check on my table and never came back from the kitchen… 7 minutes I waited to have my money taken, I left just enough to cover and walked out. One star because there are no negative stars.

This place is a real find. Himalayan food is like Indian only better! Went here with the family. Try the spinach stuffed naan. Great raita. The saag dishes are awesome. Had the mixed veggie saag with paneer, chick peas and veggies.

Outstanding! We have dined here many many times and love the Himalayan specialties! Very welcoming and accommodating staff with wonderful mango lassi for kids, spiced tea and Indian beers.

This is the best Indian cuisine in the north shore. Excellent waitstaff and most generous wine portions you will find. Highly recommended… always fresh and delicious every time.

The best Indian and Nepali food I’ve had outside of Nepal. The flavors and textures were absolutely exquisite. I never had truly tasted a chicken tikka masala like that one: what it is supposed to taste like. I now understand why it is an Indian staple worldwide. Bhartha was luscious and rich, without using any cream but only the richness of the eggplant. My new favorite dish, though i wish I could enjoy it how I had it here, the standards are now set pretty high. The stuffed spinach naan was great, large, soft, and cooked to perfection. But the real treasure here is the Nepali food. This is a little piece of Nepal outside of Nepal and I’m so glad to have been able to feel like I was back on Katmandu. :) The Nepali Royal Vegetarian Bhansa was a wonderful experience, served in the typical real Nepali silver platter! I got so excited when I saw it. Then I tasted it, wow. All of the flavors the diverse offerings of the typical plate was just what you would have the local Nepali places that only your local Nepali friend can show you where to find. It made my week to find this place, and to talk to the owner about Katmandu! He’s Nepali which you can clearly see from the quality and care that goes into the preparation, spices, textures, and flavors.

Mmm delicious Indian food! A must-try for any Indian food lover. I recommend the chicken korma, katmando chili, and a unique naan bread. My favorites! The restaurant itself is lacking in ambience, décor, and service. It is usually very quiet inside. It does not appear to be a very popular place. They have plenty of room to sit and eat, but I believe most people, myself included, prefer their take out. As a take out place I’d give 5 stars!

I went here for the first time today for lunch. It’s very close to where I work, so it’s extremely convenient. And now that I know that the food and service is good here, I will probably eat lunch here more often. I ordered the Shahi Paneer, plan naan, and masala chai, which came out to be about 18 dollars. The naan was toasty and buttery. The Shahi Paneer sauce was tasty and had a lot of flavor with the right amount of spice. However, I would like it better if it had more nuts and raisins in it. The tea was warm and sweet — just what I needed on a chilly day. The service was fast, so I made it back to work on time. The best part of all is that upon leaving, they gave me a card with a $ 10 off coupon. Can’t wait to go back there and spend it!

I have always been a fan of Mr. India. I first had them when they had their food cart down at the many downtown festivals, and have loved their food since. They have a lunch buffet, where you pay a set price and have all of the indian food that you want that they put out for you. If you choose to do a sit-down in the restaurant, be advised that the portions can be big. I got the Mr. India Biryani… ate as much as I could, and I still had enough for two leftover portions. Two things I would recommend to anyone: the coconut naan bread could almost be a dessert bread, filled with sweet coconut. Also, the mango lassi’s are to die for. The wait staff is really sweet and attentive. They are very happy to see loyal customers come back and had no problem remembering me.
