Really good food reasonably priced and the young lady who works here is soooooooo nice and personable. Great service makes all the difference.

I love this place. I don’t live here anymore but I take any opportunities to eat here. Newberry roll is the best and the udon soup is amazing!

I would not recommend this fast food joint after experiencing food poisoning. I had their bibimbap which to begin with was bland and nothing close to the real thing. I barely finished the dish, upon reaching home 15 minutes later, I knew I had eaten something bad from that place. I will stay away from these fast food joints. I’d rather drive to Gen Korean at The Collections in Oxnard than mess with this place again! I am suspicious of the reviews posted here, as the saying goes, just too good to be true. There’s barely anybody there when I drive by. Really strange.

I don’t know who was running this place before, but it’s currently owned by a Korean family with a few korean items. They have bibimbap, soondubu, and galbee, pork bulgogi, and bulgogi. But bottom line, they exist and the Korean food is pretty good, even with noone else around to compete. Its fast food style and the ambience is very casual… perfect place to get a quick fix when I’m craving home cooked meals. The kimchi is homemade and tastes rather rich and authentic. :) If ur in the ventura, oxnard, camarillo, moorpark, newbury park, thousand oaks setting… this is the only place of this kind that you can find.(Like an americanized pojangmacha in a suburbia). Whoo!!! I had the seafood soondubu tonight and it was perfect. Can’t wait to try the other items. Priced at $ 12, and considering I don’t have to drive so far(I’m in camarillo) to get it, it’s priced right. Thanks again Jackie and family for your business. I’ll be back.

My family of five had the pleasure of dining at Sooki’s Thanksgiving weekend 2015. The restaurant is under new ownership and from what I’ve heard the quality of service has improved tremendously. The restaurant is located in a neighborhood strip mall and is very unassuming, inside and out. The tables are bare, but the servers and proprietors are very friendly and welcoming. We were cheerfully ushered to a table in the center of the restaurant after placing our order at the counter. This is not a five star establishment as far as ambience goes, but we were there for the food. Sooki’s strong point is the quality of the food. It use the freshest vegetables and fish in its preparations. We started off with an order of shrimp and vegetable tempura, as well as an order of gyoza. The tempura was crisp, crunchy, and light. The gyoza skins were not too thick and the stuffing, very flavorful. The greens in the salad were fresh and the sesame dressing not too heavy. We had a couple of rolls as our next course. We always avoid any rolls with cream cheese as well as the cliché California rolls. They have a large selection of close to 80 rolls as well as daily specials. We had an Ultimate Albacore Roll as albacore is one of my favorite fish with it’s high oil content. It was excellent and slightly better than the Dragon Roll which followed. My son is a lover of freshwater eel and he was adamant that the Dragon Roll was the best. I wish we had room in our bellies to try out the Sensual Roll or the Crunchy Spicy Lobster Roll. But, we were off to try some of the specialties of the house. Normally we stop at sushi and sashimi, but we hear that the new owners were very proud of their hot pot and curry dishes. My daughter ordered the Orange Chicken as she is not very adventurous. I sneaked a couple of pieces and can say it’s sooooooo much better than Panda Express. We ordered the Seafood Tofu Stew, the Chicken Curry, and just because my sons had just finished a hard swim team workout, the Beef Kalbi Short Ribs. The stew came out piping hot, simmering with an amazing aroma. The shrimp and clams were still in the shell which I prefer, but those who are squeamish or with dainty fingers who avoid this dish will miss out on a huge umami filled dish. Be sure to use the rice to sop up every bit of the broth. The curry is one of the house favorites and from what I hear is from an old family recipe. It did not disappoint. The only slight let down was with the Kalbi as the meat was a little chewier than expected. However, the sauce and flavor more than made up the difference. We were too full to order any desserts. Overall, I would rate the food, service, value, and friendliness five stars. The atmosphere is more like 3.5 stars, but for those who live closely, takeout is a great option.

Had lunch there today with my Daughter. Excellent food and service. Family owned and operated. Prefer patronizing locally owned establishments over corporate anytime.

The counter service is second to none, with such a charming and lovely young woman, who really knows her stuff! We tried teriyaki beef plate with brown rice(only 75¢ more) and veggies, pork katsu(fried pork cutlet, also available is chicken katsu), and beef yakisoba noodles. Everything was totally authentic and yummy! We also got a side salad, very fresh and with a great creamy sesame dressing. The online ordering was super easy. There are also specials that include miso soup, salad and sushi at reasonable prices! I definitely recommend this new place in the same location of a long time T.O. restaurant, Sooki’s lives on! The same chef is here and they really try to accommodate requests. Definitely recommend! :-)

This is a stand-out family-run establishment. When my husband and I walked in on a Friday night, we were greeted by a very polite and professional young lady who was happy to greet customers. I believe the management has exchanged hands in the last year or so. The prior reviews were a little erratic, but my husband and I had a wonderful experience on January 22, 2016. After reviewing the menu, we noted that the prices are very reasonable. The space itself was very clean, comfortable and well-lit. I ordered the tempura shrimp udon combo with 6 spicy tuna rolls and my husband had the beef tofu stew(soon du bu). The spicy tuna roll tasted fresh and was jam packed with spicy tuna mix. The udon was delicious, the tempura shrimp were perfectly fried. The udon broth was savory and hearty, comparable to that of establishments that would charge twice as much for the same item. My husband’s soon du bu was flavorful and spicy and served with steamed rice and salad or kimchi. Overall the food is great, the prices fantastic and the service phenomenal, but what really stood out was the feeling that the food was prepared with the level of care that the business-owners would take for their own family.

Drop by here for visiting thousand oaks from LA. We tried tofu soup and orange chicken. Tofu soup was very good even compared to LA place. Also, orange chicken was one of the best I tried. The skin of orange chicken with sauce stays crunch long time. And their food is not too salty and too sweet. Was good. Salad sauce also very good

I’ve been here several times now and they have a consistent quality of food. I’ve ordered the Rainbow Roll meal 3 times and each time it was consistent in quantity and quality. The odor wasn’t fishy and the texture was consistent with most other quality Sushi joints I’ve been to. The meal started with edamame and a miso soup. The miso taste good, piping hot and Jair enough du auto whet your appetite. The quantity of food was filling and I left satiated each time I went. The wait staff is friendly and happy to refill your drink. When finished with the meal the staff thanked me for coming as I walked out. The décor was spot on with a traditional Japanese grill style restaurant. The tables and chairs were blonde with simple decorations on the walls. I lived in Okinawa for a few years. This very much was reminiscent of that feel but not so much that it’s off putting to American styles and sensibilities. Bonus: there’s Korean food too! Bulgogi, Kimchi, and some soups. Probably more I didn’t see on the menu. This is a great lunch spot. They are fair fast too.

I love this place! The sushi has always been excellent, with generous cuts of high quality fish and lovely presentation. The staff is sweet and the atmosphere is quiet and calm. I often order take out, but have been eating in more lately. This is definitely my favorite local sushi. Try the Newbury roll!

I was in town for work today and didn’t want fast food for lunch. I found this spot and am glad I did! I got the special of the month which is the tofu soup. For dine in you get 20% off plus a free fountain drink. They gave me a side salad, kimchee, edamame and some orange chicken free. They owners seemed to have changed and they are SUPER nice. I only get 30 minutes for lunch and I was able to come in and out! Will be back if I am ever back in town

Not sure where to begin this review but Sooki’s is definitely a place that I would like to go back anytime that I am heading up north. Would be a perfect place on the way or back from the Camarillo Outlets. Also noticed that there is another Sooki’s — Sooki’s Oriental Cuisine but I believe this is more reflective of the new owners. Now, you might wonder why I would even bother ordering seafood soft tofu soup when I live across the street from BCD. In terms of taste alone, Sooki’s taste better and there are actually more seafood stuff in the soup versus BCD. Few large pieces of squid, couple of scallops, 2 shrimps and etc. Soup had that seafood taste that I didn’t really get from BCD. So for that, I would rather eat Sooki’s. You’re not going to get all of that side dishes but no thanks, just give me the soup! Also the Orange Chicken was something that I’d like to note. Nothing like what you would get Panda Express or any places like that. They should almost call it Crispy Orange Chicken because you’ll get freshly made rather than something that is periodically made. Might get a little soggy if you take it to go but I never had Orange Chicken straight from the fryer. Can’t wait to go back for some more whenever I’m heading up there!

Food was amazing! Was driving through the area to SB from Orange County and found this gem of a spot! Ordered the soondobu, korean now, spicy pork dish, California rolls, Mexican roll, volcano roll, lobster roll & orange chicken. Everything we ate was great!. Yes there were a few of us eating everything and we devoured it all… Was not disappointing at all. Wish this spot was closer to us. Will keep bookmarked for when we’re in the area again.

Hee haw!!! I found the new spot that I could be a regular in newbury park!!! Soon as I walked in, I felt all about happiness from their smile. Male owner was so busy to keep checking on customer if they need something. Atmosphere is kind of simple but better than unorganized. And also it’s super clean!!! I ordered Unagi kobayaki, tofu soup, fire cracker roll. All of Them are big portion and DELICIOUS!!! I will definitely go back!!! Because toooooo good!!!

Got greeted as soon as I walked in. Noticed new owners and they are very friendly! They suggested orange chicken which is what I wanted to order. They must have new recipes or cooks because it is the best OC I have ever had! Props to the new owners, this is great.

Like everyone has been saying, not nesscarly death on a platter but not a typical joint either. They are a little pricey here an yes there is a sign that states the refill policy. It may ownership has changed over the years a d yes, patroons are small. If you at in the area and want a quick bite, go for it, but don’t go out of your way to make it a destination. The thing that gets me the most is when there are more than three orders, it takes 20 minutes to get your soup :(

Came here thinking a quick lunch of teriyaki would hit the spot. Ugh… I should have just skipped lunch instead that day. In addition to teriyaki, there are options for sushi, fried rice, and noodle dishes. The only option for teriyaki at lunch time was as part of a bento, no stand alone orders of teriyaki, I couldn’t believe it. Anyway, the bento came with a small salad, some tempura, and 4 pieces of a California roll. Everything was okay/standard except for the beef teriyaki. The beef was a strange cut or prepared differently, it like left over pot roast. Usually, the beef in beef teriyaki comes in small strips or chunks. Here, it was itty, bitty pieces and any large chunks would crumble and all apart. To make matter worse, there is a soda fountain facing the seating area. So you think, «free refills, great!» Right next to the soda fountain however, a sign reads«only 1 refill allowed.»
