Poor service at deli department. Ordered 8 piece chicken deal which is supposed to come with 2 each of breasts, wings, thighs and drumsticks. Instead I received 4 thighs and no breasts. Of course I was home when I noticed the switch. When I called the store, the phone line at the deli rang about 30 times, then the girl answered. Her immediate reaction was to deny the mix up. Basically she felt I was lying about the selection(I guess to score a couple extra breasts and a couple fewer thighs). Obviously, not satisfied, I asked to speak to the manager. Instead I was«accidentally» disconnected. When I called back, I was placed on hold for a while, during which time he became«unavailable». On the third call I was connected with a «service manager» that was really no better then the girl at the deli and she offered no satisfactory accomodation. Additionally, Ralph’s has apparently done away with their plastic trays(with a see through lid that would allow you visually inspect the order). Instead they just dump it in a brown paper bag. This steams the chicken and makes it soggy(on those ocassions it is actally hot). One would think that when your store is located between two stores with significantly lower prices(Smart & Final and Walmart Market) Ralph’s would at least try to compete with service. Sadly, they don’t. I doubt I will be returning.

Great selection of fresh food, fruits, and vegetables. Also a surprisingly great selection of various alcoholic beverages. A way better option than larger warehouse-style«grocery» stores such as for instance WalMart or Target. Their rewards program is really good as well, and you can save bigly. Best choice for groceries in Newbury Park.

On MAY7 of this year, I walked up to the Courtesy Desk at the front of the store to purchase a Money Order. That’s all. No grocery, no cart. Within 15 minutes I had my MO and left, realizing, after I got home, that my wallet was missing. I called the store only to be told that no such wallet of my description was found or turned in. I drove back to the store, questioned the Courtesy Desk employees who all told me, «No, we have no wallet here». I followed up with a few phone calls in the following days and finally gave it up assuming that it fell out of my purse and was stolen. Fast forward to YESTERDAY, three months and ten days later. Get a call from this store telling me to come and pick up my wallet! I am «sure» that the only thing I’m about to get back IS the wallet, with everything in it gone, but NO… Everything was still in it, including cash! Now, think about it. If it was stolen and dropped in the bushes outside the store, nothing would be in it. If a «Good Samaritan» picked it up, they’d have called me right away…(I’m in the phone book — or Google me). But none of that happened. I got it back in the same condition and with the exact same items intact. All this tells me is that this wallet was in the Lost and Found«box» at that store for over three months without anyone noticing or CARING to look at it. Anyone who’s ever lost a wallet can identify with the chaos involved with replacing the Drivers License(and the DAY it takes to do so); contacting the credit card companies to notify them, not to mention the cherished pictures(yeah, I’m stupid to have them in there), and just the general angst that something that’s become a part of you is gone. That Ralph’s allowed this to happen when all it would’ve taken was a glance into a box/drawer/whatever, is inexcusable and something out of the realm of anything resembling«Customer Service». I contacted the Store Manager and the Corporate Office as well, but do want to advise anyone who finds themselves in the same situation to call the store, ANY store, DAILY, and not take the word of the person on the other end of the phone.(Squeaky Wheel Concept). Needless to say, I won’t set foot in this store again.

I love this Ralphs — and the one in Thousand Oaks. They always have a great selection of breads, meats, veggies, and fruits — all reasonably priced. The stores are always clean. The employees are always cheerful — even after a long day, i am sure — and are always so helpful. I am really lucky that I live near two fantastic Ralphs! I always forget to do the surveys, until it’s too late — so, I felt that it is the least that I can do, to give them both 5 stars on Unilocal

The team at this location are person centered. If you gave them your list and ask them to shop FOR you they probably would. The overall attitude is professional, and hardworking. I shop here for a majority of my grocery needs and it’s a really great experience. Thanks all!

I like shopping here compared to Vons because of the layout of the store where I am able to find stuff quickly. The only thing that sticks out like a sore thumb is the older Hispanic female cashier. She is unfriendly towards me, never fails to give me an unwelcoming expression. It might be because I’m an immigrant from Asia, the big difference is I am educated and a professional and she is not. I feel sorry for Ralph’s because they have an employee who brings a negative attitude to the workplace.

I don’t fancy the layout of the store too much. The whiskey selection was odd, they had crown royal maple but not regular. Hmmmm… Place was clean, staff was fine. They weren’t in the greatest mood but they were helpful and pleasant. I think they were just tired and wanted to go home, can’t say I blame them.

I shop at Ralphs because of the people, primarily. They are friendly and helpful and there is always someone nearby to direct me to a particular product. More often than not, they lead me to it. The cashiers are helpful and listen to my requests for bagging; I usually bring my own green bags and don’t want them too heavy. The butchers will come out and patiently bring me items that I need that aren’t on the shelf. The deli is great too. The salads are delicious and well priced, and the cold cuts are tasty with a good variety available. Danny has been especially helpful with selecting my roasted chicken and giving me tasters. Lisa prepares my husband’s favorite fruit salads. Joe in the bakery is very knowledgeable and offers courteous service. Ursula at the checkout is always very cheerful and goes out of her way to help an older person like my husband. Our family honored the strike of a few years ago, up until which I shopped at Von’s. But the people there became surly afterwards, there was a remodel that made the store dark, and there’s never anyone around to ask questions of. So my husband and I have been loyal Ralphs shoppers for several years and will remain so.

Shopping here is really nice, especially after the remodel! I always look out for coupons to save even more money, on top of having a «Ralph’s Club Card» where you get a lot of discounts on majority of the items in store. Everyone who works there has always been really friendly and nice.

While I love Ralphs meats. This store has really gotten my goat over the last 9 years. Mislabeling milk and chicken seem to be the biggest ones to me. Signs right now state; «grand remodel» opening. This store has become more and more frustrating. And, most of us don’t have the time — «every» time to return milk or chicken before it’s spoil date and just let it go. I am frustrated with this store. I understand marketing; but they have moved the aisles around every several weeks in the past month. I need a store I can«count» on. I need dates on goods to be «valid». And; I need to get in and out as quickly as possible. This store has really disappointed me. I applaud the employees who went through the strikes who are still there. They are fantastic and I love them. Baggers — thumbs down on this one. My bags were heavy enough as they were; however, after breaking my arm — this was just beyond belief. I was a grocery store employee years ago and worked up to a cashier. I started as a bagger. Exactly«when» did stores«STOP» training people how to bag? I’m not that old! I can barely pick up half these bags!!! And, they get frustrated with me. I try and load everything on the line in the order in which it should be packed. Doesn’t seem to matter. I have bags that weigh more than my dog — items which are perishable placed in the regular bags I bring in and other items placed in the insolated bags. Come on people. Please teach these people how to bag again! I’m not that old. I can’t imagine my 88 year old mother trying to pick up one of these bags with mixed goods. And; it wouldn’t upset me so much if the staff wouldn’t be so upset at me for«not» pushing things down the line like fresh produce; which I would like on top. I’ve arrive home with more broken eggs from idiots throwing stuff on top of the eggs even when I send them down the conveyor last!

Today I caught myself thinking«why do I always go to Vons?» Ralphs has decent pricing(probably BETTER than Vons on average) and is just as convenient so Why have I married myself to Vons? After 15 minutes in the Deli, I remembered I go to VONS for the SERVICE. I stood and watched one young lady attend to an older one(very attentively!) as she asked to taste every deli cut in the display. Nothing to be done there, In fact, I applaud that young lady for her patience! The second employee appeared to be a manager and was leaving for the day(not much to be done there, either). The third person was a surfer dude right out of Fast Times at Ridgemont who was busy making two huge heaping sandwhiches. I looked left, then right. I’m the only one standing there. «I’ll be with you in a minute, sir» in the following five minutes as I grew more and more curious about who these sandwhiches were for, I noticed the sandwhich price was 5.99 and someone sharpied the 5 into a 6 obviously indicating a price increase(I also notice 6BOAR’s HEAD signs on display for every roast actually in the case). Let me sing you a little song Ralph’s: «When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are, anything your heart desires… couldn’t possibly cost $ 7! With the sandwhich now out of the question, I ask«How much is the bowl of hot soup?» Fast Times guy answers«ya know, i’m not really sure, they do it by weight at the register» Well…that’s…just…stupid. Now I have to figure out how much my cup WEIGHS before I can find out how much it is?! Why? So i can dump it out at the register when I find out how much i’m about to get robbed for?! And as if a heavier soup should cost more?! what kind of logic is that?! In summation, I have and will continue to consciously spend more money at Vons for the simple fact that everything in there makes sense. I have never walked in and had the thought«What the hell is going on here?!» Whereas I was in this Ralphs store for 15 Min. and had that thought immediately.

I’ve been shopping here for many years. They have a huge selection of items and the cashiers are so friendly. There are a few squirrelly customers hanging around but anytime I need something that I think they won’t have they always have it. Totally what you need in a neighborhood grocery store. They bag your items super fast, too. Nice job, people!

Never shoppped at this store growing up for whatever reason… but it has gotten so much nicer over the years. Maybe because the area and houses around it have improved drastically. If I had to choose between Albertson’s, Vons, or Ralphs in Newbury Park, I would choose Ralphs. Maybe this is because I now only exclusively shop at Ralphs because it dominiates the Long Beach area where I live. Maybe I am biased, but I always have a good experience here.

The Grocery Store Delicatessen. This is the best grocery store«Deli» in the Thousand Oaks area. Last night I went into the Ralphs«Deli» to pick up some cheese & cold cuts. Daniel L. was working the counter. I ordered; Black Forest Ham, Roast Beef, Hard Salami, Swiss & Cheddar cheese. Daniel aked me how thick to cut the slices of the meats and cheese’s. Then he showed me the cut before he made the slices. He even papered the cheese’s, no one else does that! This guy should be giving lessons to the other deli’s in how to do this work. So, if you want good cold cuts, cut the right way, see Daniel at Ralphs on Ventu Park Road.
